I've been to Tel Aviv, and the video of the bombed road leading south from Gaza is just reminding me how close I've actually been to Gaza... That stretch of road looks just like the beach north of Old Jaffa. Going to Israel felt very important to me at the time, but I'm revolted. I walked past the ice cream shop that was burned in an anti-Arab riot, and I didn't even imagine that was the one I'd heard of from the news. That's how easy it is not to realize what's going on just ONE day's walk from where I stayed. It makes me feel ashamed and disgusted. Glad you are still with us. I have taught the bible for 30 over years. I have made over 70 chapters of the bible into songs, After October 7th I fasted and prayed in sympathy with Israel. I fasted nine days out of twenty-seven and the first five days in a row. The first week changed my mind, and the Lord turned me against Israel. on the 27th day, the Lord gave me what I sought. The inspiration for a song. But it was not the song I wanted to write in sympathy with Israel, it was "The Burden of Israel: Thou Shalt Not Commit Genocide." If my song makes any money every penny will go to Gaza, and I will match each penny with one of my own, so long as I can afford it. I am a poor American with 3 children and a pregnant wife.
