All neatly laid out. We used to prank the gearbox tech in our workshop by tossing in extra parts to his layout. He would freak out 😂

I can imagine the frustration, when you are done assembling and have spare parts... You can't sleep that night haha.

Very nice! I have the same motor and had to rebuild it because it had been under water (I think during Hurricane Irene). It came out of a Gravely walk behind that had suffered a catastrophic failure due to a transmission sudden stoppage, that made the machine a lawn ornament. The motor was probably still good at that point, but it could not move, and it was in a low spot for Irene, so after the flood, the piston rusted to the cylinder. I ended up reusing the piston and rod, and just honed the cylinder, but the engine over-revved and the rod disintegrated. It may have suffered micro fractures in the major failure. Whatever, I had the crank turned down .010 and bought a .010 over rod and put it all together, again. An engine that was not designed to be underwater has many issues to correct for successful terrestrial use, and it's a cascade of problems that plague me yet. I did paint it, though, so it looks good!

I'd love to see more minutes of the sandblasting. I'm sure it's a pain in the ass to record, but it's so satisfying to watch.

thanks for restoring a kohler . why do you paint the engine block instead of powder coat?
@AJRestoration7 ай бұрын
The issue is if the powder coat was a fail, to remove the bad coat or touch ups is a absolute pain and wastes so much time. if I paint it the touch ups are almost instant and really easy.

Is that a zinc coating process and if so where can I get directions on how to do and chemicals

Meticulous restoration! I just don't understand why you go to all that trouble and then change the colors. That 1950s blue was way better.

Thank you for the awesome comment. I don't like blue haha.
