the sound thing is complete bs Vietcong used captured weapons all day long, so they both had M16's and AK's so why would hearing an M16 firing mean to them that US soldiers were nearby? it mostly was just because personal prefrence. people that preferred the AK, they used the AK those that preferred the M16 used the M16.. not everything has such an 'epic' story for a reasoning
