Definitely team Roger, I like the straw hat’s, but having Roger, and his crew around, they would steal the show. Also wouldn’t it be easier to make white beard the pirate king or Xebec, with Roger taking Ace’s place in the series it wouldn’t only build the connection between Luffy, and Roger, but it would also allow Luffy to learn haki far earlier if Roger had it at a young age like his son.

If Roger was born in the current day the great pirate era wouldn't have been started by him, shanks would've never been his apprentice probably being raised in either godvalley or mariejois therefore never inspire luffy to become a pirate therefore him probably having garp as his parental figure becoming a marine, Roger would probably still become Pirate King but later, this time actually coming at the right time.

If Roger was born, raised, and developed as a pirate in the same era as Luffy, Ace wouldn't exist and his drive to become stronger before going into the New World wouldn't have happened because Ace wouldn't exist to be there at Marineford to die in front of Luffy. That alone is pretty much why he took up on Rayleigh's offer to train him to use Haki. Plus if we are counting Rayleigh into this as well, he couldn't train Luffy regardless the circumstances because he would still be on Roger's crew and he would be helping Roger become Pirate King instead of Luffy.
