Somebody gave me an AP X1, It had the problem of not stoping automatically. At the end you show the hole for fixing that, thank you very much!

I have the AP-B1. Have used it almost daily for 35 years with no problems. Knock on plastic.

This is near identical to the Akai AP-X1 I have. Just having you point to the areas that effect skating is a huge bonus. Going to have another look at mine when I get off work. The X1 is has the same tone arm, uses a PC-35 cartridge with a RS-33 stylus, all P4d. The only real differences I can see with the A1 and X1 are cosmetic. Thanks for the video, this is what I really needed. I got the X1 with an Akai Am-A2 amp I wanted, but as the record player and amp and other components are all styled the same I thought I would see if at was any use, but I couldn't get it to play through a whole record without jumping and skipping (new stylus too). Now I have everything I need to do a proper service. Thanks Turntable Guy!

There are two points where the skating spring can be attached. One is under the "fake" skating cover and the other is in the position in the video.

Hey, not related to this video but I just watched your video on the SL-23 service, helped me out immensely BTW, Thanks! I recently picked one up and although it's in great running shape it was in a smokers house and the finish has yellowed somewhat, any idea of what's best to clean that type of finish? Love the content.
@TurntableGuy3 жыл бұрын
Most SL-23s have yellowed from age. I use glass cleaner and a toothbrush to scrub the grime off, but it's doubtful you'll get rid of the yellowing.

Can you explain how do you repair the belts? Put it inside a bowl, with boiled water Plus putting it inside the microwave for 2-3 minutes?

I have the same turntable, it's been sitting in a box until I can decide what to with it. Last time I tried playing it, it worked, but the sound was so low and sounded like far away, I figured something is wrong with the RCA cable and gave up. Any ideas?

Sounds like you didn't plug it into a Phono input.

So was the crack caused by the manufacturer? Or was it abuse by the user? Nice turntable, its amazing how simple it is on the inside. Great video.
@TurntableGuy2 жыл бұрын
The crack is caused by old, brittle plastic eventually cracking under the load of a metal screw and nut. The constant back-and-forth of the tonearm will eventually cause it to break.
