Dude! I wish I had this video 8 years ago when I totally refurbished the unloved MPC3000LE I bought for $1200. It was a PITA to complete but after I finished it looked amazing. I soldered in all 52 new tact switches, soldered in all blue LEDs, installed internal SCSI converter card and SCSI2SD card, installed the personalized Vailixi OS 3.50 chips, installed the blue LED screen, added black fat pads, soldered in a new note variation slider, added all black buttons and thoroughly cleaned all the internal circuit boards and the entire inside. I still truly enjoy my MPC-3000LE!

Nice one! :D Amazing how long this stuff lasts if looked after!

Great work! Vids like this take a lot of time and effort and are a great service to the community. Worth mentioning that Vailixi was the work of Melbourne genius and dear friend Rohan Mansell R.I.P.

Sorry to take so long to get back to you. Wow I didn't know Rohan was from Melbourne! Indeed very sad that he passed.

Its alot of work to only last 10 years, I have a toy Yamaha keyboard from 1986 fully functional, and a 1986 same year Technics amp and speakers also fully functional.
@100ThingsIDo Жыл бұрын
It could last 20 years. Depends on how much its used and envinromental conditions. 10 years seemed about average for those tact switches to start showing issues from my experience. :D

Nice seeing you doing that job. I'll have to get around doing mine sometimes, any recommandations on where to get new tact switches from? Cheers !
@100ThingsIDo Жыл бұрын
I think Mouser still stock them :D Yeh its worth doing just to stop the frustration and risk of the plastic buttons snapping!

hmmmm never had to replace tact switches in my MPC 2000 Classic
@100ThingsIDo Жыл бұрын
They all go bad eventually, I've done heaps of them over the years on all kinds of synths and samplers. The Tactile buttons are not sealed so over time they either get gunked up or if not used all the time eventually the contacts become less conductive. I guess where you live can also play into this with environmental conditions :D

Thank you for the post. Are there only two traces on the board for the tact switches? How would I know if I putting them in correctly. Just acquired one of these beauties!!!!! Thank you in advance
@100ThingsIDo Жыл бұрын
They can go in either way around being a standard switch they are no-polarised so having only 2 pins there is almost no way to get it wrong :D Hope that helps!

Can you up grade an MPC one to make it sound better? I live in Sydney.
@100ThingsIDo Жыл бұрын
I guess you don't like the sterile sound of it ? You could put it through some nice outboard pre's to give it some life like a nice Neve clone or something :D

Good job, mate. As always, I'm waiting for the next episodes. (And one of of these days, when Ill be brave, I'll change the displays on my S1100 and on my K5....)
@100ThingsIDo Жыл бұрын
The S1100 is a pretty easy display to replace and well worth doing. I replaced the backlight on mine just recently :D

@@100ThingsIDo how did that work for you, l was told it's not going to work
@100ThingsIDo Жыл бұрын
@@BTHECROWN1 I changed the inverter to a 5v to 15v one and used a iPhone 6 Plus backlight and it works great! I had to drop the current slightly to reduce the brightness. If your inverter is still functional then a new backlight foil should also work (I did that with my MPC 60 and worked a charm.. .same display and inverter as S1100)

@@100ThingsIDo Do you have a video showing me how it is done or how to check to see if me inverter is bad so, l can know direction to go

@@BTHECROWN1 Sorry, no I don't. Best to have a look at the web. be careful when mesauring the inverter out its 5v in but over 100v AC out normally! :D
