bruhhhhhh you can tell its like timestretched and vocoded thru some sort of fm synth man they really took their time with sound design back then.. i wish a sample pack of today put in this much effort

hehe I got a new SCSI hard drive and CD-ROM drive for my Ensoniq ASR10 last year. Happy as a clam chowder festival! :D I wonder if you can take a new or old computer and buy a SCSI card and write a program to make sample dumps and control the ASR10 via MIDI sysex ??? I know scripting and OOP for web and I see how java works so maybe it's time ... Funny how playable most old skool sounds in those 80-90 hardware gizmos seems? It's like keyboard instruments with weird noises made for music. Sometimes each sound today is so fantastic, massive, huge, wide and immersive it's like a soundtrack in and of itself but hard to play, right?

Have you checked out ChickenSys software? Also back in 2000 A wave Studio was a thing for ASR sample dumps.

Just wondering, have you ever used Reason? I have hardware (even this s3000xl sampler like you have) but i really enjoy using Reason because its racks and cables. There is even an akai to reason sampler converter.

Dana Adalaide, I do a lot of Reason too, but still I find those old technology more beautiful.

Yes, I've been using Reason since it came out and I still update it every couple of years

What format are these Akai CD samples in? WAV? Can they be used in some type of modern PC emulator? Apologies for the novice question. Great sounds!

dos gos Logic should have an internal sampler that you can find between factory instruments....you can load Akai samples from cds straight into your Logic Sampler.

No, they're formatted to be mapped to a sampler. If they were just .wav's, you wouldn't be able to "perform" the samples on a keyboard. Good news is, most samplers can read these formats, like Kontakt.

It's been 3-4 years since you typed that comment, but if you still want to know, it's from a Sampling CD called "ZERO-G - Ethnic" (Ugandafemal3) There's a video called ZERO-G - Ethnic (Demo) You can find the sound at 15:36
