I've seen this video so many times. I had a theory, based on research that Ghanaians were more than likely the direct descendants of the Kemetians. This video broke it down more beautifully than I could have hoped for. This video is pure gold !

The is deep, the Ghanaians are the Egyptians who fled long ago to avoid the Romans. Sadly the slave trade started and alot of the Akan, Fante were taking away to be slaves. This brother is breaking down a very important part of our history that was lost. I knew it was something special about Ghana 🇬🇭 and our spiritual connection to that place. The language, names and land marks prove that our people were taking from these lands.

The creator (God) is the source of all creation. IT not he/she. It is the totality of everything. The verb the ENERGY not the noun. Once you think God is a noun, a person, a place or a thing, you separate yourself from it and immediately become a limited being. That’s what separates the believers(religion) from the knowers( spiritual). God is conscious.

I do agree with you, but I see nothing wrong with people viewing the earth as a woman. Very much like the primordial Greek Goddess, Gaea (Gaia), Asase Yaa is a personification of the earth, attributed to the beauty and fertility of the woman. The Akan people view the Earth as a female spirit, as women give birth to new life, Asase Yaa gives birth to the earth and its properties. I still feel that God / The Goddess is the source of all life and creation, but it is easier for people to personify the divine in this way. The same is done for almost all other deities. :)
@Hommiez
@Hommiez 2 жыл бұрын
@@Iyana Mother Earth is not the creator of the universe. In this case I’m talking about the creator. Anyways, I agree with you if you say Earth is a goddess because she produces. Nammu gave birth to the first gods/deities. AN (the god of HEAVEN) and KI (the earth goddess) Nammu was originally a personification of the primeval sea as the beginning of the world and one of the mother goddess. But the forces/energies behind everything is what is termed as the Almighty or the creator. Apart from the almighty we had other creators like Enki creating humans.
@Iyana

@@HommiezAh yes, I agree that the creator is easier referred to with gender nuetral pronouns. I refer to it as The Great Spirit (in honor of my Choctaw heritage, they reffered to God / The universe as this). Do you have any book suggestions when it comes to this topic? Many Akan don't know they are looking at a form of their ancient spiritual practices or what many call the Akan religion when they see Rastafari. Even the popular Rasta phrase I and I comes from Twi, me ne me. Locks can be since from Addis Ababa to Dakar but we all know locks were a sign of the ancient Akan priesthood. The drumming is a mix of Asanti and Kongo drumming. The concept of word sound power is Akan as well as how they bound themselves to nature. Yet it seems they don't see themselves. See even it concept of Iternity or eternity and creation is all Rastafari that came originally from Akan. Please let us bridge the gap or gulf caused by the ocean and slave trade and be able to see one another. Then everything Irie a Rasta word from Yoruba ire- meaning blessings and good fortune and vibes.

This is hard to watch ... at first glance. It started out on the wrong foot. lol First of all, the european word "God"denotes a Fictitious Character; like Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, etc, etc; because that which is denoted by that essentially meaningless word is NOT PROVED or PROVABLE! So if an Akan aims to give the Akan perspective on Reality, then the Akan should use Akan words denoting Reality, and then use english phrases to try and give an idea of the Reality of which he speaks. After deciding to revisit him and paying closer attention, this speaker did a great job. A language represents the EXPERIENCES, etc of the people who cobble together THEIR language. So if the creators of the english language have never ever experienced the Totality of Reality, then they will not have a word to denote that Totality of Reality. And that is why biblical "God" are said to have some strange characteristics ("God is a jealous God", say) which ARE NOT in tune with what this fellow is describing. Truth is: This fellow seems to be describing a Reality that is in line with what those of the Vedic Knowledge System know to be Brahman -- The Totality of Reality; ALL that is, was and ever shall be. When the mind surrenders all of its activity, and is in its Settled State, that is when this 'experience' of Brahman, this becoming one with Brahman is experienced 'purely'. To call Brahman (Nyamkupong/Chukwu-Igbo?) "God" or 'allah' is to promote and harden ignorance.

Yet the Akan exchange all this beauty, this rationality for a white man in the sky, who sees them as secondary because he already has his chosen people. Even knowing all this, when the Akan call upon God, who are they beseeching. Boy, there should be some confused people walking around Akanopolis, not sure if they must preserve all life or to just slaughter, as those who defeated them did.

@@jon_s Where did it say in the video or by the recorders of the video that it was a male only audience? I couldn't find that. I have been instructed by teachers from that part of West Africa before and only certain topics would have single gender groupings, and this wouldn't be one of them. And references throughout the sharing of knowledge from the teacher would make reference to there being female or male folks only in the group present. Also, if it is truly meant for males only as you say, there is incredible disrespect by the producers in posting this video and giving access to everyone. So, my opening question to you remains, and it is sincere, I'm not asking to start an argument between us.
@jon_s
@jon_s 2 жыл бұрын
@@xinavaneify Your teachers were right about single gender groupings and this is actually one of them. I am from West Africa here the female things are usually explained by the Matriarchs or the lead female in the community. If the topic has gender specificity (like the one he's explaining), then a patriarch or head male explains the male aspect and a lead woman explains the female aspect. It may not make sense to you but in Africa this is common sense, especially due to the ways our languages are structured. The lead female will always be able to explain better to females about the female things and the lead male will do the same for his gender. That's why we have gender-specific societies in which youths join to learn things and do activities relating to their own gender. Going through one of such societies usually gives us a consciousness relating to our own specific gender so we stay in our masculine speak our topics only. For example, I was raised in Ekpe (lion) cult that is only for males. If I were to explain spirituality, I would do so from the Devine masculine perspective. The women from the Abang, Ekombi, Moni-Nkim or Ndem (female cults) will come at things from their own female perspective. That's just how it is. That's why all our societies have Patriarchs and Matriarchs to mentor their own gender group. I believe that Kwame Aku in this video did not deliberately exclude the female side for any reason of discrimination or anything like that. It's just not in his consiousness to mentor females

I just want to thank you for sharing this. This video was genuinely a breakthrough for me and I will always remember it and look back on it at times. I have been on a spiritual journey for a few years now, and have been looking at ways to incorporate my African and Choctaw heritage into my practice. I genuinely honor and love nature so much and the Akan Concept of God is absolutely beautiful and feels perfect. Even though I honor Asase Yaa in nature and through dance, gardening, exploring nature, music, and libation, I also have an altar where I do a lot of my spiritual practices and work, and have dedicated a place in the center to her! This is just a planter that looks like hands, and it is holding the Earth (plants I put in the planter). When I water the plants I feel like I am giving back to the Earth. Asase Ye Duru 🤍

When you water plants you water yourself. Keep that in mind because Asaase Yaa, the plant and humans are connected.
