I was really doubting how those abstract squares would work out but you pulled it off, especially by replacing some of them with square tree planters. Pretty awesome to see such a new and different style from you!

Wow, absolutely stunning as always. I love the "reflected sky" idea, even if it's not reflecting the sky above, since it could be a projected image like that strret canopy in Las Vegas, on a grand scale, to hide industrial ugliness far below the city levels. The result is gorgeous! I'm imagining looking down on that plaza from inside the towers, and how lovely that would look. Great job!

This might be the best build I think I’ve ever seen in Cities. So incredibly creative, it’s amazing the level that you can take this game to. If I were ever in a position to design a real estate development I’d hire you to do it!

Ditto. Best ever. Period. The. Standard.

Other than the sea of blue it turned out looking good! I feel like a sort of night market would fit well in between the plaza and central transportation hub, imagine like a very brightly lit, neon-ish night market, and above it you have roads and walkways where you can see below :D

I mean, asturis was never short of nice ideas and great technique to bring those ideas to life, but this square really is something else. Cities Planers around the world should watch this series. Of course its not realistic, but it could really help to generate a vision of how cities in our near future could look. Amazing Work, i really hope you still have some ideas and keep going for a while. I really enjoy watching the Asturis-Series!

In my headcanon Asturis is the capital of an intergalactic federation, and the murals are of other cities in the federation
@melissaharris33897 ай бұрын
I like that idea. I've been imagining Asturis being a high density, compact city built specifically to support the space elevator and off workd cargo transfer. There must be other elevators spaced around the planets equator; each one with a support city. The high-speed rail line goes inland to a capital city with all the heavy industry (mostly mining, oil extraction and refining) and agriculture being located quite far away from population centers to better preserve the image of unspoiled natural beauty.

OMG you're crazy, this is insane! :D At the moment I can't imagine that C:S 2 could look like this.
@BlazingImp7715111 ай бұрын
what you are describing with the city underneath the city makes me think of Chongqing china, where its really hard to determine what is ground level because there are so many plazas and streets on so many different levels. Asturis already does this to a degree, but with the idea that there is also underground levels full of industry and stuff it takes it to another level.
@ultmateragnarok837611 ай бұрын
The transition from super-high density to normal high and medium density will be interesting to see, with more and more freestanding towers still reaching probably around twenty floors on average. Something more like a modern city near there. Definitely seeing some of the city edge near the ring highway as well will be interesting, how it'll all merge into that.
@zweal633511 ай бұрын
amazing! If it is possible you should also consider adding a building that is similar to the las vegas sphere. That would probably fit in very nicely within this city.

19:54 okay, so water doesn't work ... And the sky thing is a cool idea. But what about this: what if those glass panels are looking into active lava tubes? There's bound to be a few interesting lava/magma texture in the workshop. Lava doesn't usually move very fast, so it doesn't need a million vertices to simulate splashing or animated textures. You could place lights below to give a dark red/orange glow to contrast the navy blue of the plaza at night.

Hahaha; I should've waited till the end; I prefer what you did with the scrolling day/night sky images; it's really nice

@spartan117zm11 ай бұрын
I’d love to see you do some kind of sci-fi canyon city one day, with tons of sky bridges connecting everything and waterfalls running into central lakes (almost picturing the outer Citadel play area from Mass Effect) a full floating city on a blank ocean map, or even an actual floating city (in the sky this time) like you mentioned with Bioshock (maybe even with a steampunk type aesthetic).
@RN-du8wr11 ай бұрын
The ai image in the artificial lake was a pleasant surprise. My idea earlier in the videa was to build a 'city' entirely out of po and shrink it all down then place it in the void with some kind of foggy glass to represent clouds to make it look like the city was on terra firma below the actual city build. More complicated😅
@HesteBremse11 ай бұрын

@sergiorodrigo994711 ай бұрын
What a fantastic plaza, great job! I have only one suggestion to make it better: add bridges connecting the island separated by the “sky river”. Otherwise I just don’t see that central part of the plaza being used that much, as it isn’t a place where you can pass through to go somewhere else. I think is pretty isolated as it is now.
@christopher674011 ай бұрын
This is an absolutely amazing video! In both Cities: Skylines I and II so much of the content created about them is similar, with very few unique ideas, but this... For both Asturis and Altengrad, the creativity that has been put into them is just unbelievable. I hope that you continue with both of these series, they are truly one of a kind.

Man, once again, you pushed the limits of what CS can be. Suggestion; you should od a place where the "undercity" is much more visible, with all the industrial stuff, more elevation, more levels atc. Maybe somewhere at the edge of the city.

I’m not a big fan of the gridded tiles (it looks way too cluttered) but I love the void sky. Maybe it would be better to have a few straight lines of tile squares to serve as more of an accent rather than a textured space filler. Other than that, it all looks great. And once again, I’m going to suggest filling the empty space around the finished city with an enormous solar farm.

0:50 Do these buildings have railway tracks on the top? (Might be for some kind of vehicle for the window washers to hang their platform off.) 32:33 The shadow on the sky image somewhat detracts from the illusion. 34:13 The night sky is more credible.

The use of ai generated images here is pretty disappointing. I was hoping it would be something like feeding it a screenshot to stir up ideas. But all it really ended up being was these visually busy images plastered across the wall of a very clean plaza, with no real concern from the ai for where these images were gonna be used.
