I recently made further purchases. Saving for a market slump is also a bad idea. There are different perspectives on recessions and depressions; we cannot always expect significant rewards; and taking risks is preferable to doing nothing. The bottom line is that by diversifying your portfolio and making sensible judgments, you will accomplish exceptional outcomes. In just 5 months, my portfolio's raw earnings increased by $608k.

Recently bought some recommended stocks and now they are just penny stocks. There seems to be more negative portfolios in the last 3rd half of 2023 and first half of this year with markets tumbling, soaring inflation, and banks going out of business. My concern is how can the rapid interest-rate hike be of favor to a value investor, or is it better avoiding stocks for a while?

Safe investors should invest in hdfc bank if you have a rational return expectation...if you want high risk high return...then dont invest...fyi I am also a high risk investor but since hdfc is giving a safe opportunity of good return, hence I still prefer it...I also look at technicals and then invest rather than 100% relying on Akshat or anyone else's comment ..you still have to put your brain because it is your money

Akshat is positing the wrong question - people saying that HDFC lut gaya, barbaad ho gaya. Then coming with a solution that HDFC will be back. HDFC will be back for sure. Almost all of us know that. The question is why invest in this if the returns are lower than even the index funds. When investing in an individual stock, the expectation is to beat the index and other similar stocks with a big margin. If this is not delivered, it does not make sense. Who wants to work more for less returns.

Comparing Bank PE to defence PE , seriously?
@abhinavmaheshwari16653 ай бұрын
Sir! You forgot the most important thing..opportunity loss. This stock is in consolidation zone for past 4 years. Had this blocked money being utilised in growth companies, people could have doubled their money. India is currently in growth story..so always focus on growth companies. ICICI bank is much better than this old hdfc bank.

In banking stocks Price to Book ratio is more important. As far as the consumer product company that you were discussing, has a high price to earnings ratio. But, we have to understand that how the earnings is calculated. According to Indian accounting, the massive expense on advertisement and product R&D is expensed, not depreciated. Let's see in different perspective that how much money will be required if you want to create the same consumer product company that you have discussed?

I believe, merging hdfc business with hdfc bank was a very long term bet. So the stock will be in a range for next 2-3 years. Also there are much better banking options than hdfc bank, so would be better to go with them.

Exactly. It needs at least 3Q further to settle down. But people are in wealth rush. It doesn't work this way. I regret leaving my position. (340 shares) But I could hedge. Well, it's just one of the many more good options in share market.

In the case of banks, you normally look at price to book ratio. HDFC bank used to grow at more than 25 percent in the past. Hence it used to trade at expensive valuation of 4-5 P/B. From the numbers, it seems HDFC bank's loan book is not growing anymore as they are not able to raise deposits on the liabilities side. For the re-rating, it needs to grow at more than 25 percent. There is no doubt about the high quality of the bank. But the size is too big and considering the current growth scenario, the current P/B of 3 is not cheap when you compare it with other private sector banks. Could you please explain how HDFC bank is still a good investment choice?

If loan goes down & they gains interest. They will show it in *other income* & try to show it as profits. (Which is not as isnot generated through the actual business) We should deduct it from PAT & consider the remainder it before deciding to invest in it.

One important aspect you missed to cover here having said all about micro and small caps is their exit strategy. You could have shared at least one or two quick exit strategies to get atleast capital back- but what are its triggers w.r.t. PE, Growth aspects etc. extend w.r.t. Nandan itself. If fall happened every cycle with market issues or its about its PE rerating etc etc.
