I finally understood why Al Green wanted to be a pastor because his singing falsetto style has the same feeling and emotion that a black pastor would express verbally. I just love it and him for all the joy and peace he gave to each one of us, he was a gift from God and there will never be another Al Green, peace 🕊️ always my brother.

Black folk used to get lost in their art this way because imagination and expression was really all they had to escape reality. They themselves were their entertainment and found joy in taking you on that ride. Al Green was a tough act to follow
@ceceliablair91772 ай бұрын
Well, I’d say that they couldn’t escape their reality which was so hard, and often still is, but they knew how to transcend it through love. He says it here, “Loving you has set my heart free.”

This has to be the same performance Al Green did on the New York-based TV Show "Soul!" (labeled elsewhere as from "1972"), aired on January 3, 1973 (though he did appear on the program February 16, 1972). It was a great performance and one which touched a lot of people!
