Thank you so much for posting this. When I was a teenager I turned on the game and there he was getting ready to play and it was a complete surprise. I called my parents and siblings to the TV and we all watched in awe, wondering how high he would go at the end. We were blown away, pun intended. Eight years earlier on a move across country we stopped in New Orleans and had our picture taken in front of his nightclub. I got to see him live in the early 90s when I was in grad school. This just makes me bawl when I see this performance. What a master Big Al was. RIP Jumbo. You were the best.

wow great memories. I'm no trumpet player, rock guitar player but studied jazz as a way of learning music theory so was also blown away as well when I saw this live and then again when I got the DVD of the game 20 years later. His tone and phrasing is amazing on this echoing in the Super dome. Happy you were able to hear AL play again something you and your family enjoyed so much.

Hermoso!Bello!!Just beautiful .Passion and gusto from a trumpet maestro!. Im picking up.my trumpet and loving every minute after this pandemic. Found me a parking spot behind a Dennys restaurant. To my surprise, nearby neighbor shouting words of encouragement! The chills brings a joy havent felt in my heart for years. My beautiful wife of 20 years also pushed me and encourage me. To all my music brothers: brass, winds, strings, drums. Go out there and play! Find your spot ., your love, your music touch and passion. Love and blessings to all. From a humble trumpet player.

This was a classic game with Oakland coming back from a 35-3 halftime score! I remember Stabler brought them back to win 38-35!! I was 16 on this Monday night.
@johnmongani52237 жыл бұрын
actually it was 28-14 at the half but then 35-14 Saints early in the 3rd quarter. The rest is Stabler history. Another amazing comeback for the Snake at 0:57 like he did so many times in his career. here's a link to the second half of that game. kzbin.info/www/bejne/paTLqIp4iJhlb5I

He's also exaggerating the uneven tempo to hint to the audience that this is a solo performance so they'll stop trying to sing along, leaving him free to express timing as he sees fit for the remainder of the piece. The audience didn't get the hint, though.
