They're great and I'm a big fan, but Savona is an absolute genius of the C64's programming world. The gameplay on this conversion is notably better than on the original, and we have him to thank for it.

@@AL82RetrogamingLongplays It really warms my heart to continue to see new things being created for these older systems. Not only games, but new hardware too, like add-on hardware and cartridges, etc! I think a lot of people my age who grew up in the eighties are just kind of tired of the FPS stuff that seems to be 90% of the modern console's arsenal. Systems of today are thousands of times more powerful - literally - than these old 8 bit systems, but are they thousands of times more fun to play with? Anyway, yeah, there are new games every few months or so being created for these old systems including the Commodore 64 (and Vic-20!), Sinclair Spectrum and even the Atari 2600. Have you heard about the "Commander X16" project from the 8-bit Guy? They are creating a new retro computer system and the end goal is to have one for under $100. It's rare seeing Commodore 64 video games using the high resolution mode entirely and still looking great at the same time. Most Commodore 64 games use multicolour mode since it could have 4 colors per tile, but the trade off was the fat pixels. The PC version of this game looks and sounds worse than this version for some reason...

The original PC version was made to mimic the graphics, sounds and performance of the ZX Spectrum 48k, which is the reason why it looked, sounded and felt the way it did. Currently, there's PC versions that allow to change, even on the fly, the graphics and sounds during the game in order to emulate a number of old 8 and 16 bit systems, from the MSX to the Genesis/Megadrive, and some that run self-contained, standalone emulations of the game for each of these systems on windows and such, but I still think that this conversion from Antonio Savona is the best out of them all.

Il protagonista del videogioco viene ucciso da ultimo? Per un videogame per il C64 e una cosa originale ed unica per quel periodo. Non credo che il finale "e vissero felici e contenti" sia monotono, ma almeno si doveva osare un qualcosa di differente.
