Everytime I see one of these amazing *HBCU* marching bands it always upset me that this excellence is not mirrored in HBCU football and basketball teams. I wish more (if not most) of our top black high school athletes would choose Universities like *Alabama State, Southern, Alcorn State* etc instead of Alabama, Oklahoma, Clemson etc. There is no reason why the HBCUs should not be the gold standard in College sports especially *Football Basketball and Track* These Universities are so underfunded, and so under appreciated by our own people.

You try to reach your Audience in your Song Selection! I'm sure most of the ppl in attendance were familiar with and appreciated the Star Wars Theme selection. I'm not so sure they were familiar with or appreciated "Backstabbers"! But to each his own. Peace and Out!

And i just have to ask, why does ASU director always have to have an escort, man please?
@deeisme13695 жыл бұрын
smiley 24 we had escorts in my years in band 74-78. Usually there is more. Reason safety, if there is an emergency they need to scramble the parade, there is an officer there to direct them.

I hate how everyone is saying why people hating on them and that we should be proud they are representing HBCU's.... IF THIS IS HOW HBCU MUSIC PROGRAMS ARE GOING TO BE REPRESENTED, THEY DONE RUINED THE WHOLE IMAGE!! No university band should sound like that. I almost thought they had a high school playing💀just horrifically embarrassed by this

This was about to put me to sleep it was an ok showing. All those old songs push it, backstabbers, papas got a brand new band they could have at least thrown one new up tempo song in there. They didn't sound like a collegiate band but then again the parade route looked very long so cotton mouth probably set in and they were trying to conserve energy and chose simple songs. I know the stingettes feet were killing them afterwards in those baby doll shoes.
