This is one of my all time favorite songs. After losing part of my right lung whilst serving in the U.S. Navy in 2008 and the Fight with the U.S.Navy until 2011 and then the Continued Fight With the Department of Veterans Affairs 2008 , Awared 100 percent in 2013 and that fight continues now it is a month before 2025. In Nov of 2014 I blew my lower back out on the job and that lead me to find out I was suffering From seven of the 9 Gulf War Conditions that comprise the Gulf War Syndrome. In Feb of 2015 I undertook a proceedure to correct the issue with my lower back that nearly kkilled me and a new fight started. I was already beat down with the Fight between the Navy and the VA. Now I was fighting for my health and my job. I was forced to retire and in 2018 after 3 long years of court battles I won. I was tired then and I am tired now. I do not want to fight no more. Not for my self nor for anyone else. But I can not go quietly into to end. I continue to fight even though I an physically hurting and mentally strained. I listen to this song every so often to remind me even though I do not want to fight no more that the fight has to go on. One day the cycle of life will take me and one of those Gulf War conditions will beat me, but not today. Thank You Brittany Howard and the Alabama Shakes for such a heart felt song and a unique sound.

Every 15 to 20 years somebody comes along and just makes music that sounds different than everyone else. It always seems to be blues/soul based. The great thing about Alabama Shakes is that none of them look like rock stars, which means it’s the music that matters.
