It's been 30 days since I was told I have cancer. It's taken this long to get a second opinion and my port in. In two days I start dose dense chemotherapy. I will be honored to listen to this song during the next six or seven months of my treatments. I thank Alabama Shakes for sending me this message. P.S. It doesn't hurt that I'm an Alabama girl! P.P.S. Here's my update. I've held on! Still around, had a recurrence, post traumatic GROWTH (how bout that!?!?). On immunotherapy and doing well. Love to all of you who sent me love and prayers and good vibes. I had no idea so many of you reached out until today, my 3 year anniversary). Wish I could reply individually to you. Make your day great! Julie Kay from Alabama

Myself and 4 of my other stage hands who were on break enjoyed her set from the eagles nest backstage. I couldn't move, i couldn't speak. I personally love the feral cat sounds that mince out of the much hated Ms. Joanna Newsom. Also, the female lead of Carolina Chocolate Drops (can't remember her name o- o) has a badass southern singin' voice a lot like Brittany. Good music NEEDS to xome back to the forefront. .... I wish to do inhuman things to radio devices, (depraved, horrible things,) even when I know they don't control the insufferable noise that is deemed popular and diarrhea'd out of their speakers. Sorry F. Mercury All I hear is Radio kaka.

Thank you to whoever wrote this song and to the ones who played it. One night I was sitting alone and scared in a really bad bad situation and I was praying so hard to God and asked for a sign from my ex fiance to please give me a sign that they he was with me and I would be saved and make it out alive. God's good grace and mercy was upon me and the radio powered on by itself and this song started to play I started crying and in that moment I knew I would be ok. Fast forward week later my Dad and aunt drove 8 hours straight and found me in the middle of nowhere they rescued me saved my life. I'll forever be grateful and never will I forget this beautiful song that played that night out of the blue. This is the whole truth my truth of God's love mercy and Grace. Never ever give up and always hold on. ❤

Just keep in mind. Those feelings of wanting to end it all..they are only temporary. They come and go. Be strong and hold out till those feelings change. And when.you are thinking clearly use this time to come up with positive changes that you can use next time you find yourself in that suicidal position again. I know its exhausting but ppl that love you would rather have you tired then dead. Dont be so hard on yourself. We all seem to be our own worst enemy.

Nah, not gold. More like someone melted down a big chunk of rusty iron and added some honey to it. I mean that all in a good way. Gold is like some pop singer. This chick has some pipes and a roughness to her singing. Been listening to them most of the morning with my 1 year old daughter, dancing and singing along. Hoping I can get her started on the good stuff so she doesn't get into just the pop stuff that her friends are into when she gets older. I was listening to 60's 70's rock and old blues before I was a teenager and never got into most of the contemporary music of my youth. Fortunately I moved before high school and it was cool to like that music at the new school.

OMG, are you kidding me or what? If there ever was such a thing as a perfect voice, well, ladies and gentleman, its here. Yup. No questions asked. Hands down winner. Her, name is BRITTNEY HOWARD. People, we have been blessed with her drop dead perfect voice along with the most touching words and spirit a song could offer. This song 'HOLD ON' has it. Is it. And wait, of course lest I forget to mention a song that is brimming with feel, and, soul, overflowing with emotion, and hope, all the while it has perhaps, "THE MOST UPLIFTING SONG EVER RECORDED" TITLE WRITTEN ALL OVER IT. I'm in my mid 50s and I had to stop and sit down. Listen again and again. Then I pinched myself, that I had to wait 50 something years to hear this gold. Bless my heart. Bless my soul. This song, has touched me deeply to my soul and brought back the beauty in songwriting. This song has such a riff that is worse than crack. Just once, you hear this song and if you're a human, you'll be stuck listening over and over again, and loving life again. There just might be someone above, as Brittney says. Brittney, I concur! Baby, I'm HOLDING ON! [By the way, so far I'm on 68 consecutive listens to this song, I'll stop at 100 consecutive listens--over 5 hours straight. I needed this, I had to get back up.].

So when my bff, callie, called me, she replaced Brittany with Whitney. This song has always been my goto when im missing my dad... thank God for artist who digggg deep when performing.

I remember being in Tennessee about to head back to Florida in the morning unable to sleep and seeing this song performed live! I was coming back to town for my grandmothers memorial service and I had been talking to a girl and we ended up getting together when I got back. It reminded me that there was good even in the bad times, of course we didn't last and eventually I had new good times to get me through that darkness.
