Genie WAS the storyteller at the beginning of the animated version. The peddler was voiced by Robin Williams and if you look, he only has four fingers. In an earlier version of the script he was supposed to reveal himself as Genie at the end of the movie but they ended up cutting that part out after the beginning had already been animated.

The jam-scene was mainly improvised, it is wonderful in all of its awkwardness. I think that it is a nice touch that this Aladdin isn't as charismatic and right away well-adjusted to royal habits, like the original one seemed to be. He has a lot his own kind of charm, though. Somehow I knew that "A Whole New World" would make you emotional. The argument between Aladdin and Genie and the scene where Genie gets free are done better here than in the original, in my opinion. And "Speechless" was an amazing add to this movie, Naomi is such a great Jasmine. I hope they had included the song "Desert Moon" in the movie as well, it is very beautiful and calming song. This is one of my favorite live actions, so it is really great to see your reaction.

I think the original Aladdin is more beautiful visually, but I think this one has better pacing which makes it slightly easier to watch without getting distracted, even with the longer runtime. Also, love Will Smith as the Genie, Mena Massoud as Aladdin, you can tell they had so much fun making this. Also, less pop-culture references here, which I get people some people like, but this feels more Arabic (based on my limited knowledge, so sorry if I'm wrong) which is kind of more appealing to me when watching a film with this kind of classical setting.
@r-giireactions22352 жыл бұрын
I also have to say on behalf of A Whole New World, I get that them taking the Magic Carpet to China emphasized the size of the whole new world they were seeing, but just leaving it in the Arabia-like setting shows that this region of the world is a whole wide world in and of itself (Meaning the whole world is even bigger).

With this one I actually did enjoy watching it but as far as I'm concerned it will never come close to the original. That one just holds a special place in my heart with Robin Williams. 28:24 - I think people cover their appearance up on the outside because they believe that's the only way people will see them. If they see past your disguise, you fear they'll hate you not because they see your true self, but because they'll only see the unembellished version of your surface, they'll still refuse to look deeper. People think that by covering up their weakness on the surface, they can get people to see the value that's within. Basically, it's creating an illusion to reveal a deeper hidden truth, but unfortunately, over time, maintaining the lie of the illusion can eat away at the goodness inside until you're the opposite of what you once were, appealing on the surface, lost in the center.

The good thing about Will's Genie is that he paid proper homage to Robin's...without stepping on it or trying to redo it. I have mixed feelings about him overall, but he made the right choice in bringing out his "Fresh Prince" persona for the role, and still giving the proper respect to Robin's role. Which, kind of makes sense, since he would've seen Aladdin as a kid, too.

And even tho I love giant demon Iago, I would love to see Jafar in a giant Snake form more (but I guess and understand they went full budget on this, so the money on CGI Snake destroying the city while chasing Aladin were not possible after the full movie CGI). Still the jam scene is one of the most hilarious things in any movie I have ever seen, I laugh so much I start to cry every time I watch that scene.

The live action of Aladdin is probably the first live action they did right. Beauty and the Beast was OKAY but it felt like it was missing something. LION KING was meh. Just a remake with updated graphics that didn't capture the essence of the original. Aladdin was like you said on par with the original. They did a great job adapting it and I absolutely look forward to the sequel. The only problem I had with it was the actor for Jafar. I was hoping he would be older and more menacing looking like the original so I'm not sure what their reasoning was for choosing the actor they chose. Maybe a love triangle in the future? Maybe make him good? Because I read they would want to go into a different direction for the sequel. So who knows!
