I got around 5 hours in and what a great experience. Recommend getting a heal in the clerics tree. Also you’ll end up finding hired hands to help with the fighting areas also you find class trainers that boost a class you prefer to play. You can also respec if you so desire. My only real complaint would be tracking 1 quest at a time. Game really needs multi quest tracking.

Does this game have some kind of hard time limit system? I get nervous whenever I see games that keep track of time, can't personally stand when the game decides "You need to do X by Y or you lose." Constantly being under pressure is obnoxious for me.

Hey @splattercatGaming, I implore you to take another swing at making a video about this game but this time definitely spend less time in random combat encounters on the world map and more time doing Fighting Areas and quests from NPC's, which is the core gameplay - much more so than random fights - they just don't happen too often and normally you would just avoid them. I can strongly recommend rushing the first FA (1 skull) and after that either buying or crafting a weapon/armor. Game is insanely hard with starting equipment, but gets very manageable once you craft any sort named armor at the blacksmith or even purchase decent equipment. Also for doing FA you get rewarded with skill points and character advancements and can actually purchase combat abilities and magic spells. I think it's very important that you show off the gameplay up to a point of purchasing at least 1 or 2 usable abilities, but to do that you need to progress skulled locations on the map instead of fighting random encounters :)

You can absolutely be a wizard. It's not the best at this moment as the magic skills don't scale mostly with your weapon focus (for example staff), but if you craft yourself a Duskbringer armor and take 4 mage skills and cooldown reducing traits, you can decently well defeat groups of enemies. Just your single damage will be lacking, but you can poke stuff with an Azurite Duskbringer staff. Hope they add some mutators or progression to skills and magic at one point though.

Don't have a controller, I'm pure PC, most controllers hurt my hands for long plays and I tend to lose myself in a good game for hours on end, as I suspect I will with this one. I think I'm going to grab it, if I can afford it right now, and maybe play it in a few months when it's been worked on a wee bit more. I think I'm looking forward to it. Yeah bruva am felling that too, not just ultima online but the general look of the old Ultima iso view, think part of it is the view angle Ultima always had that slightly off normalized iso view position, then i think the russet and browns dominated pallet is another factor.

No need to wishlist this. Early access is more or less complete experience. It's just a matter of 12 months of further polish and extra features and some new quests. But as of now you can fully playthrough the story and there are over 100 quests and nothing is inaccessible really. Combat gets a little easy once you get good gear, but since release they have been doing daily patches. I strongly recommend buying the game and trying it now as it will help to further the development.
@zantrex42 жыл бұрын
Good foundation... just needs content. The combat skills are fairly limited and the quests are very samey. It really needs much more quest/dialog content and more build variety. Also wish the mob packs would vary in quantity/composition for each encounter. Fighting the same 5 bandits or w/e in the same exact order, etc back to back to back gets stale very fast.

The game has a very odd progression system, you don't get xp from killing enemies or even doing quests. You get skill points and attribute points from completing fighting areas (basically the dungeons) and that is also how you progression the story to make your way towards the final boss. Quests and killing enemies get you money and gear/items, but you could play for hours and never get a single skill if you don't do the fighting areas, which are actually pretty challenging, especially early on when you have no skills.

@@Molda22 agreed. i wish devs would stop trying to reinvent the wheel. a classic DnD-inspired system or an Elder Scrolls familiar system is all you need: either level up by killing stuff/completing quests or by advancing your skills through direct practice/usage. Looks fun even if somewhat MMORPG-like (had lots of fun with senseless slaughter in MMORPGs xD) with it's seemingly many kill quests. Classic CRPGs (think of the Ultimas, Wizardrys, Eye of the Beholders and so on) didn't really do the kill 3 giant rats, kill 5 wolves stuff and I wonder when this stuff became so common place.
@TheRealPDizzle2 жыл бұрын
My take on it is MMO devs originally needed to fill the game with simple kill/fetch quests due to the wholesale nature of MMOs -- you can't really have a thought-out and immersive player experience for everyone in the same vein as Morrowind or Oblivion, etc. Nor could you have the narrative and character development like that in KotOR 1 and 2 for a million people. Additionally, think about the technological limitations of the early 2000s when these games truly began to take off in popularity. Eventually their success led to numerous copy-cats, and the increasing popularity and main-streamization of MMOS or gaming in general. If we look at such games today, they're rife with incessant busy-body or carrot-on-a-stick motivators. I think this is in large due to the gaming industry pandering to the lowest common denominator. Your average gamer equates RPGing to: go to all the icons on the mini-map, pickup ALL the collectibles, murder hobo the entire map, collect all the shiny loot, sell the gear, rinse and repeat ad nauseum
