I see it sold already! LOL 😂 That guitar is like 20k new, it was a steal for $8,400. I have 2 SCs, OM in Euro Spruce/EIR, Vintage Artist Sitka/Mahogany. Love them both. Just bought the OM cutaway a few months ago by a miracle for 6k, it was on the market for 3 days. My next custom SC, OM cutaway will be Old Growth Mahogany( $2,800 upchrage) with Old Growth Sitka( amazingly no upcharge for that wood by SC.) The SC Vintage Southerner( Mahogany with Sitka or Adi), is the best slope shoulder dread Ive ever heard or played. It's interesting how the redwood worked with more air in the box from 12 fret, with the Adi bracing and Old Growth Mahogany, incredibly loud, dynamic, and bell like, yet very smooth overtones. Maple would be my preferred binding wood, looks incredible! Alamo Music is a class act!

I would have never dreamed about taking a Santa Cruz off the wall to give it a play, but the last time I was shopping for an acoustic guitar, a dealer plopped one in my lap as I was auditioning some more realistically priced guitars. Oh, man! That Santa Cruz was, without a doubt, the best built, best sounding guitar I ever had an opportunity to play. So sweet and articulate. Thinking back on the experience, there's a really good reason that I try to avoid playing guitars far outside of my price range.

Cooper…, you really need your own KZbin channel where we can just listen to you and watch you play. Absolutely Beautiful Playing. Audibly you’re Amazing but also visually you are memorizing to watch. Do you have any albums out? If not you should really be working on it. If you do please forgive me for not knowing and then let me know how to get them. Big Fan Cooper… You’re Awesome! Also.. I just watched your video, “The Golden Apple” at the Quarry…. Loved it 👍

I have to believe that whoever traded this in is now regretting it. Cooper, beautiful job demonstrating the tonal qualities that a guitar of this caliber can produce. Just stunning.

What an amazing guitar! I was just paying my Collings SJ Cutaway and this guitar reminds me of my SJ. I think my SJ has a bit more volume, but same beautiful balanced and rich tone with so much complexity to each note!

one of the best guitars I ever played was a small SC - neck was too wide for my small hands but the feel and sound was outstanding

Gorgeous guitar, great playing from Cooper as always. I'm curious, how do y'all mix the two mic signals when you do acoustic demos?

Great congrats on featuring a maker you don't sell. Santa Cruz ROCKS!! Richard Hoover and team have been at it for a long and illustrious time. Confessing my ignorance, please, what is OG??? And Q 2 please, why would someone want Adi bracing on redwood? Or sinker redwood?? Fabulous sound. Great playing. Thank you.

Adirondack bracing adds a bit more stiffness. It produces more head room, in my opinion. The protein glue also helps. Santa Cruz knows how to get the best out of the tonewood used.

Hey Cooper! Not related to this, but I put some Luxe Kovar strings on my OM28, and it made the guitar sound very nondescript. Do these strings work better with mahogany guitars? Maybe I should try them on my D-18. What do you think?
@PeteA544 ай бұрын
As a Mahogany addict, I can only say that I put a set of Kovars on my 000-15M and I doubt I'll ever switch to something else. I agree that they are not a good match for an OM28.

No slight to the Santa Cruz, but Cooper could make a shoebox with rubber bands sound good.
