I'd recommend FFMPEG for converting videos. It is a command line tool which can convert all video formats and is in fact what many of these converter tools use on their end, they just show you a nice UI while the actual converting is done with this free library.

I usually drag the video into a video editor and render it in my desired format. I can also use this opportunity to do some edits to the video if I want to as well.

You can also import swf files into adobe Premier and add it to a layer, if the scene in flash has no background it is automatically transparent in premier and it updates as you update and export your flash file. The only drawback is that you have to go back and forth between two programs. I use reference image frames of the video footage as background guides in Flash when ever the scene changes angle. It works for me.

My way to convert a video is to put it in Premiere, and export it like I do when i'm editing something. This even allows me to cut or short my video :)

Ooooor you could export the video into image sequences, download the audio file and import it into flash, that way you’ll have way more control over your animation, but that’s just an opinion

Hi Alan, But this is not embedding a youtube video into the project canvas right ? Its a standalone video which you have on your local system that gets embedded. What about showing a KZbin video, like html simple websites have KZbin embed cod placed into them. This is so people can see my demo showreel etc which already exists on KZbin within a website im planning to make using ANIMATE.
