As a Sunderland fan, Alan Brown will never be forgotten. It breaks my heart that the man who thought of Brown as his mentor was never given the chance to manage the club he loved. "I would have crawled up the M1 on my hands and knees over broken glass to be the manager of Sunderland" Brian Clough

He also pioneered the short corner, something we see every day in football. Always puts a smile on my face knowing that. He wrote a book called Team Coach that captured some training methods and tactics, never sold many and didn't get a good production run. But I have few in the attic 😅

I like that statement “there’s more to football than silverware”. It actually rings true, and to a degree, silverware is an inaccurate way to determine how big a club is. Home support would be more accurate, and going by that, Leeds United are bigger than Manchester City. Sure the latter are a bigger name in terms of league status and marketability, but that’s a false way to judge how big a club is.
@Veaseify4 жыл бұрын
Brand recognition is what makes a club 'big' - Newcastle get 50,000 home crowds but nobody in Africa is wearing a Paul Dummett replica jersey...to be fair neither is anybody in Newcastle (I am a supporter before you ask)
@Veaseify4 жыл бұрын
@@bakaweiner6956 Yep, but I know a lot of deluded Newcastle supporters who claim we are a big club because of the stadium and the crowds...
