In my opinion, Shawn Ryan is one of the best former special operations podcaster. Shawn is always patient and never interrupts his guest. He'll let the guest speak and then make comments and ask questions. Also, Shawn provides sidebar information to correlate what the guest is talking about. There is a former Seal that also has a podcast and this guy ALWAYS interrupts his guests. A guest will say something and then this dude cuts him off and starts sharing his own story related to what the guest just said. Shawn Ryan, thank you for running a truly professional and informative podcast.

My brother was there is Desert storm, his MOS was Chemical Warfare Specialist. He ended passing away from the damn Chemicals they handled over there. He is buried in Great Lakes Cemetery. I was supposed to enlist with him but a baby came soon as I was going so I c Decided to not go and served in Public service for 23 years in the Fire Service. I have to utmost respect for every single Military Personal wether they were in Combat or not. Much Respect to you Men.something too was they all received some Shots prior to being fully Deployed, after that the War there was over he was sent back to Hawaii to Scofield Army Barracks then to Fort Campbell, Bragg. He hurt his back really bad in a Training Accident jumping out of a Helo then they sent him to the Butcher Shop at Wright Patterson Air Base, that actually made it Worse, he could barely Walk after tha. The Army sent Him to Walter Read Hospital in DC. unfortunately they damaged some Nerves so he was Permanently in Bad Shape, then gave him a Medical Retirement even though He didn’t get his Twenty Years in. The Pour Dude gave up Hawaii to go into the Airborne which he was in for a few years before and after he got Hurt, The Foreign Doctors are the ones that Actually made his injuries Worse, They Cut Nerves they shouldn’t Have Cut. He Hated it and Fought the Discharge because he wanted to Continue to Serve. He Wanted to Retire From The army. The Doctors seen to that I guess ( Retiring) . But His Back wasn’t what Killed Him He died from Complications from Pneumonia caused by the Shots they gave everyone before they Deployed over there. I believe it was called, Gulf Syndrome for which I don’t know what that was that would cause Pneumonia every month it seemed. Then I Hear all the Time that it was Actually something everyone seemed to come down with. Very Sad Day in Our Family. My Dad, Two Older Brother Served, my Dad In Korea during that Conflict or War how ever you want to call it. My dad was really a bad Dude, He was a Drill Instructor after the War. Then Retired. My other Brother did 4 years during the Early Seventies, after the Fall of Saigon. So I was actually supposed to Enlist with my Brother but I had a Baby on the Way so I wasn’t going to leave with my Fiancé at that time alone to have Our Son. So I went into Civil Servant in the Fire Dept. I had always wanted to Be in The Military as Far back as I can Remember. All through my Teens I wore a Army Hat with my Dads Sargent Pin in the Middle of that Hat. I wore that damn Hat until it was so worn out I ended putting it away and it got lost in one of Our Moves.

I starting to see now that 30 years of war has cost our country way more than just blood or treasure. Three generations of the nation’s most intelligent, physically strong, mentally tough, compassionate, hard working, and most of all Patriotic men and women. They gave up their personal lives and walked out the door with the kids in the background crying not wanting them to leave and knowing that they were hooking up and rolling out. To take on all comers, anytime any place. Listening to Mr Cooper I started to realize that the huge void in our country I think all of us feel. This void was created by a call to arms 30 years ago that our nations greatest patriots, not only answered call put it all on the line to keep our country safe!. They dam sure paid there share of the price. What really was that price Think if even a half of these amazing people had been right here in the US for those 30 years. The doctors, and judges, country sheriff’s or maybe just mom and dad, and leaders of our community’s. These guys are our nations most valuable treasure!!! We are really glad to see you guys at home with your family’s and being roll models for the next generation of America.

I was 107th MI (ABN) LRSD at the same time at Ft Ord, Ca. That female POW was a UH-60 Pilot, shot down, broken back, broke arm and when I was wounded and went to Landstuhl, she was the WOUNDED WARRIOR CMDR! She was really cool and kind of inspiring. We had some really bad WIA's there.

Alan, The STAR course is still there.... We had two days to complete it.... First day "Go's" got the next day off for Foot Maintenance(There were about 46 of us our of 265 that got a GO on the first day and the rest had to "Re-Train").... and I hated Sand babies, reason being that my cadre had really small hands.... and you know how they would take their hand and grab the top of the bag and if the bag was showing on top of their hand they would dump it and not count that bag.... I'll never forget that or the Jeep.... That was tough especially being the 6'3 while the other gents were 5'8-6'0 tall.... I don't remember the paint/water buckets, but I'm pretty sure in team week I was delirious until I got that piece of paper that said OUTCOME: SELECTED..... I came alive then....

I was a Artillery scout in the Marine Corps before I became a JTAC. We get sent to Coronado for Naval Gun school. Are barracks are right next to the BUDS barracks and we seen those guys everyday in the chow hall. They never stop moving running from sun up to sun down! Much respect! My favorite one yet Shawn, all of it, but especially the last three to five minutes. That’s the good stuff. I have three young boys, and I hope someday I can be a dusty ole retired cop, and tell each one of them how proud I am of them. Hell, I already am, but to see what men they’ll become is something I think of every single day. As a son of a man who was also military, and worked for the agency, I have an understanding of what type of guys “the majority” embody, as you said. I couldn't figure out how to leave review on iwhatever but I'll leave one here. I think you're one of the best interviewers on KZbin. You're thoughtful, allow others to speak and you're always respectful. I (I'm sorry to say this) have gone to other's channels after watching your interview with them only to find that they aren't as interesting on their channels as they are on yours! You bring out the best in people. You've enlightened us, taught us and I appreciate it. I'm an old woman and sincerely wish my family and I could take classes from/with you. I'm frightened about our world right now and often find my only comfort knowing there are people like you out there. Be safe. Take good care of your lovely family and thank you.
