With a bullet wound behind the ear, I don't see Russian Roulette. I'm thinking he was murdered. As a cop he would have made enemies.
@abee84052 жыл бұрын
To me, it does not quite add up: He was clearly very much liked and respected by the locals to be honoured with such a tribute after only 7 months of service. I don't think any other foreign police officer would have their own monument and walk after 7 months in office. In contrast to that, his former colleagues say he was a drinker, unhinged enough to pay russian roulette. Also, the autopsy report is not consistent with a self inflicted gunshot wound. Who else feels something is missing here?
@mirofeya Жыл бұрын
The monument and walk was done by local mayor to commemorate Tom. Why? Because he was killed and local authorities allowed it. I doubt that locals liked him that much after these dead bodies near the station.
@larryselkirk426 Жыл бұрын
I had the same thought watching these videos. The description of the wound seems to me to be more consistent with an execution.

I don't really see how the Russian roulette story can match the autopsy, sounds like he was shot in the back of the head 🤷 which isn't surprising given the nature of his work

Considering the suspicious nature of his grandfather's death I suspect this is the honor bestowed on someone martyred for doing their job. I just don't believe he played Russian roulette.

@@gemmster14 Saying he was a police lieutenant whose primary role was to establish rapport with the community based on friendship and goodwill. The rebels depended on local support and if he was a successful in connecting with people, as the testimonials demonstrated, then he was a potential threat to that support. Speculation on my part to be sure. However, I feel confident in that speculation. Remember this is a man who fought against Japan in WW2. He was now serving in a country that had been invaded by Japan in 1941. So while he was British, he was probably not looked upon as a total outsider the way other Brits might have been.
@anniemossct4 жыл бұрын
@@cariganpintalba9498 I kind of feel that he was offed by his own fellow police officers. If he really was killed by a Communist, I doubt that it would have been covered up with a Russian Roulette story. I can see that he was well loved by the community in Cha'ah even though he had only been there for a few months. British officers like Tam Darling would have been loved as he didn't see the locals as anything but people that he had been tasked to look after and keep safe. My mother used to tell me stories of British officers giving away condensed milk tubes to the local kids and I even remember stories about my grandfather who didn't speak a lick of English except when he got drunk, telling a British officer about the mice problems he had at home.
@colleenarmstrong60054 жыл бұрын
I don’t think he killed himself either. The autopsy report detailing the entry wound location leads me to think it would not be a natural position to shoot yourself in the head. Very awkward position. When described it sounds more like a ‘professional hit’ type injury. If he was playing Russian roulette when he died the only other explanation was another person in the shop was tasked with pulling the trigger after his grandfather spun the chamber. I think it was either the communists or his fellow officers who pulled the trigger.
