My name is Hank. I was named after Hank sr. I'm from Utah and I used to work at the Hyundai plant and I got the opportunity to rent a place within walking distance to his grave and I would still see the tour busses stop in from time to time visiting. I would go over and visit some nights when I couldn't sleep and have a drink with my namesake.

Many people make fun of country music. Well, Alan Jackson's Midnight In Montgomery is an example of pure artistry that single handedly refutes this kind of snobbery. The cohesive instrumentals and the stark black and white video images create a haunting atmosphere. The marriage of this scene with Mr. Jackson's lyrical voice combines to pay homage to a truly American music genre, an era in our history, and to the man himself, Hank Sr. This video evokes in me a depth of emotion that I treasure and I feel really sorry for anyone who would fail to appreciate this kind of beauty.

Yes, Ronald - it's always struck me as ironic that the lyrics in country music are often stereotyped and ridiculed by those who don't really know it - when in reality, they are usually far more clever and eloquent that most any other genre. And the musicians second to none.

Born and raised in Montgomery, I've spent countless midnights there(though not at the cemetery!). Many of my family are buried a few feet away. I always stop at Hank's grave and pay.my respects. What a tragedy that he died so young, since in his short life he blessed us with so many iconic songs. One can only wonder how many more treasures he would have left us had he lived a long life. RIP, Hank. God bless you, and thank you for.making my life-and millions of others around the world - richer for the beautiful music you created. I was 6 years old when this song came out, and even after 29 years of listening to this song I still get the chills when I listen to it. Written by one of the best songwriters of my time, about one of the best songwriters of all-time... It pays tribute to the father of country music in a way that no one had before... Or since. It baffles me how this song never reached #1. The lyrics, the performance, and that haunting d-minor key all come together to give the real country music fan a taste of how a country ballad is supposed to be. I highly doubt we'll ever get another country song that embodies the genre in this pure a form. Certainly not from the likes of the faux country artists that are so prevalent these days. It makes me a little sad... And pretty damn mad too. Thanks, Alan... For writing a timeless classic about another timeless classic.

Alan Jackson has always been one of the most humble performers, in country music. Every time he's won an award, when he walks up on the stage to accept it, he always seems embarrassed, like he didn't really deserve it. Alan Jackson's music embodies the heart and soul of classic country. His songs beautifully blend storytelling, heartfelt emotion, and a sense of nostalgia that resonates deeply with listeners. Whether it's the upbeat rhythms of "Chattahoochee" or the poignant lyrics of "Remember When," Jackson's authenticity shines through. His ability to stay true to traditional country while appealing to modern audiences showcases his timeless artistry. Listening to his music feels like a journey through life's simple joys, trials, and triumphs, making him a beloved icon in country music history.

This song has always given me this pleasant haunt-y feeling. It's odd how feeling just a little sad can be pleasant, but this is one of the sources. That and "Seminole Wind" by John Anderson.

It is weird but I know exactly what you mean and this song always evokes that for me.. So does Clint Blacks Like the Rain and Whiskey Lullaby too but that one is almost too sad. I'm not a huge country fan even, but this is one of my all time favorite songs.

Country singers these days have no idea what music's about. They have no soul and no clue. Real country music is dead. Think God some people who love this music is still alive.

I've been listening to this song since I was a little kid, and I've seen the video hundreds of times, and man...I still get chills every time it first shows Hank standing next to Alan in the cemetery! Not only is this a wonderful tribute to the late Hank Williams, but it seems to perfectly capture the emotion and feeling of Hank's tragic life.
