@@originalredneckgirl Not sure what you mean, Hank III does Country, then he does Punk/Grunge, and then does Sludge metal. All in one 3-4 hour show. I suspect you haven't heard the entirety of albums such as Straight to hell, Rising outlaw, Love sick, broke and driftin,Brother's of the 4x4. Check them out because III does a ton of different styles of music.

This is a tribute song to the legendary country singer Hank Williams Sr. Although he only recorded for six years, from 1947 until his untimely death in 1953, he's had one of the biggest impacts of any artist in country music. Unfortunately he was only 29 when he died in 1953. This song gives him the respect he deserves

A song about the legendary Hank Williams Sr. who passed away at the young age of 29. He left a legacy of great music behind. Yet another great song about this man by Alan Jackson. I love how he incorporated the title of one of Hank William Sr.'s hit songs, "I'm so lonesome I could cry". Glad to hear this song again. 😊

In this song, Alan references Hank Williams Sr.'s song "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry", not only by mentioning the title, but also by the lyrics, "Just hear that whippoorwill".

I have a love/hate with reaction videos. On another channel, they were reacting to Jr’s Whiskey Bent and had absolutely not reaction to the lines referring to Sr’s songs. Again, as written before. Since they don’t know the genre’s, why not learn the background of the songs? Perfect example. I’ve seen 2 different reactions to “The Smell”. One channel actually Wiki’s the sings before reacting. It was amazing watching his reaction since he knew Ronnie wrote the song from a real incident...he also learned the all LS songs were written from real real experiences. Okay, done ranting.

Carol Tillman I'm also an Elvis can. In the Ghetto is one of my absolute favorites. I'm not really a fan of most Gospel music, but when Elvis sings Gospel, I feel it to my bones. There's just something about his voice and the way he sings Gospel that touches me deep inside my heart. Please tell your husband I say "Thank you SOOOOOOO very much for your service to our country. It's because of you that we still have our freedom today and can rest easy knowing we are being protected by Very Special Warriors fighting for us."

This song means so much to me...I'm from Montgomery but we moved when I was a baby, but my dad grew up only 2 blocks from Hank Williams house when he lived there and my Moma's grandmother is buried 3 gravesites from Hank Williams plot. I might not have lived there but all my extended family was in Montgomery and I spent nearly every summer with them...The one thing I don't like about this song (which I do love) is that the video was not made in Montgomery but in Nashville...it just takes some of the beauty of the song away for me...

I LOVE Hank, Sr and Hank, Jr. My wife and I went on a little weekend getaway last year and spent the weekend over in Montgomery. I’ve visited Hank and Audrey’s graves many times. But I’d never gone at night. So about 11:30, I told my wife I was heading out to Oakwood Cemetery and asked if she wanted to go with me. She was like, “No Way”! 😂. She told me I was crazy, but she knew I was serious. (Cemeteries don’t bother me. I’m a graduate of Mortuary College and after being an embalmer, cemeteries day or not aren’t ‘scary’. 😂). But I played this song all the way out there and I got some great pics with a full moon in the background. The sky was like a dark purple. It was amazing. I’ve got the pics on my FB page. She still don’t understand it.

This song also speaks to the greatness of THIS song ..... MRM loved it apparently w/o knowledge of its deep and lengthy backstory.....as did when it was 1st released....it just draws you in and holds on! I did not kno Mr Hank Sr., George Jones, Conway Twitty, Tom T Hall or any of my daddy faves.... at that moment in life I was like no thank you. NOW....I truly love this song even more since my dad is gone .... reminds me of his love of REAL country music AND that folks are never gone as long as they are never forgotten.....

Long time, no see, MRM. I have a playlist of highway/crusin' tunes. This has been on it for about 20 years or so. I don't cruise much anymore, gas costs too much to do that. But back in the 90's, you could get a gallon for around $0.75 and travel he backroads and relax. One stretch or road near my house, at the time (it's a housing development now), was a sod farm. During the summer, they would grow peppermint, and when the moon was full, and the mist covered the fields, I would have the windows down to inhale the thick scent of the peppermint and watch the moon reflecting off the mist. It gave that stretch of road an other-worldly vibe that was something else. Kinda reminds me of this song.

Ty, I'm agreeing with most folks here. You got a bad recommendation. You have to "get" Hank's place in country music to understand this song. As good as it is "own it's own", the kicker is when you know Hank's legend. A GREAT Alan Jackson song for you to do - I will NOT insert the link: "Alan Jackson - "Remember When" | Live at the Grand Ole Opry | Opry" This is another one you need to do with your wife in the room, even if off camera. Interesting fact: When I lived in Montgomery, I went to see his grave, Hank's original tombstone was a huge guitar. When I saw this video, I got on the phone right away with the Montgomery police department and asked about it. They verified that the tombstone had been changed.

The song was a tribute to Hank Williams Sr.

I would think it would be scary driving at night and listening to this song knowing that it's about the singer meeting up with a dead person, Hank Williams Senior who is buried in Montgomery Alabama. It's his grave they showed.
