Hi. He n his wife of 41 yrs have 3 girls. I was in line at Wal-M. I noticed an older couple next to me - have been married 53years !! It's POSSIBLE to find the one that stays with you thru trials n tribulations n not bail out at the littlest things or even bigger things. It's a day by day thing. Alan Jackson expresses life n events in it so well. Peace to you and yours

My husband and I have been together for 18 years - since the end of high school senior year. There have been hard times, times when, though we were committed to each other, there wasn’t much loving feelings. But we chose each day to love and care for each other anyway, and those loving feelings came back. There will always be mountain tops and valleys, but I adore that man and he treasures me. My relationship advice includes learning how to argue without cussing and calling each other names - and being grown up enough to remain kind even when your significant other isn’t. Let your words and actions be something you can be proud of. Your sweetness will bring your sweetheart around again. He does that for me, and I do that for him. 💛

I went from remember when to Monday morning church, the day she left this world... one year ago now.. I loved her was together for 14+ yrs.. I took her for granted.. now I'm just broken all she ever wanted was me it's all she ever asked for just a little of my time.. i never asked her to marry me and i knew she wanted me to.. she never asked and neither did i but i knew... we as humans let things that seem small, truly get pushed aside but i hope someone sees this post and it makes them see what they have.. dont be a fool like me it ain't easy being me lately... God bless and peace to you all.....

Alan is such a great songwriter and performer so I love a lot of what he does but what’s so special about this song to me is how it doesn’t candy coat the struggles people often go through. No one said marriage and raising kids is easy but man is it worth it! The song mentions how the start was hard and how life threw them some curves which happens. Also, how they’ll break each other’s hearts and hopefully bend but not break the marriage. How having kids can teach valuable lessons to the parents who have to let go of so much of themselves and put the kids first which often brings the parents closer even though the job of raising kids is one of the hardest yet most rewarding things they’ll ever do. It also talks about how our perceptions and values change as life moves on and how ultimately we’d do it all again, the struggles, the hurt, the broken trust, the rebuilt trust, the joy, and the love. It’s a masterpiece and had I not been married for 17 years with two kids this song wouldn’t have the same impact on me as it does now.

The difference between marriages that last and those that don’t is staying together through the inevitable heartbreaks. That’s why strong love and commitment is so important. You love the other person even when you hate the other person. It’s not easy. I failed like so many others.

Brother I strongly encourage you to pray to God to send you the woman He created for you. There is a woman out there God created just for you, that He intended for you from the foundation of time. You will know when you find her. She will have prayed for you and you will have prayed for her. As Ecclesiastes 4 tells us, a threefold chord is not easily broken. That is a picture of a man and a woman with God at the center of the relationship.
