@@davetubervid you have to remember though that Alan is written by about three people. So while Coogan is obviously brilliant, a lot of the things he says here are written by his co-writers too.

i highly recommend his 'from the oasthouse' on audible, it's exquisite, and series 2 is out in September. I've listened to it several times now and it remains excellent. 'This Time' is amazing too. I think the more recent stuff is much funnier than the original material, Steve Coogan is a genius.

Pretty sure it's all scripted, Ross clearly has a sheet of paper there with his list of prompts, takes nothing away from the craft tho, all the greats did it that way, Parkinson always lamented that he regretted having to do this with Les Dawson, Tommy Cooper and Frankie Howerd because he wanted to get nearer 'the person' but they wouldn't come on unless it was scripted

He (Steve Coogan) Still owes me a Bottle of Southern Comfort from 1983, It was given to him So he'd get out of the Old Air Raid shelter me and some mates were Drinking Double Diamond Beer and Gaymers olde English Cider next to the old Quarry that was Inbetween Alkrington where he grew up in and Victoria Avenue east. (Now the M60 Motorway) it was during a Heavy snow storm ,As he walked away from the Shelter We shouted to him" Watch out for the Small trench Which he immediately fell into 😊 and eventually climbed out covered in snow and yet still trying to look cool (He wasn't) He did manage to save the Bottle of Southern Comfort from smashing though.

Alan, very funny. Funnier than your last TV series . Once inspired by Terry Wogan now Riichard Madeley. Perhaps Alan could go on I'm a Celeb, be voted to do trials then faint like Gillian McKeith or have a 'funny turn' like Richard and have to leave by air ambulance.
