I saw this film in the cinema when I was a kid and sneaked in under age. It was an x rated film at the time which will show you how much times have changed. It was a bit quirky but I have very fond memories of it too.I love the music too. I always think that had Malcom not had that disastrous film with Guccione that he regretted and contractually couldn't get out of then he would have been a much bigger star. A slice of England as it was.

-This is on my list of the top flickers ever made. Alan stole the show. The films "If" and 'O Lucky Man", both with Malcolm McDowell and directed by Lindsey Anderson, form a SINGLE theatrical odyssey. It is best to FIRST watch "If", and THEN, 'O Lucky Man", in one sitting, -if you want to better understand what Lindsey Anderson is trying to say. I saw both of these in the theatres as a young teenager. -Nothing like the old theatres (before the megaplexes). I usually went on a Monday or Tuesday afternoon (less people). Plus, Thursday was the traditional day of starting a new film. I used to see the film cans sitting outside my neighborhood theatre, awaiting pick-up, and wonder what would happen if I nicked the film and held it for ransom... It's odd to know that all the great films of my youth have either been restored or need to be restored. -E.g., camera negs found, the entire negative work print, digital high-red transfer, etc. Often, no two released prints are identical. E.g., the filmmakers were still making changes during the theatrical run! This is why "Director's Edit" productions are important. Sort of like Tom Waits' records, "Swordfishtrombones", "Rain Dogs" and "Franks Wild Years" forming a trilogy, -best listened to in sequence. Otherwise, you might miss the story Mr. Waits is trying to tell. I think Island Records should release these three records as one triple record set (remastered from source parts -ADD). I suspect Waits was not sure what he was doing until the latter part of that period. The ultimate example of this is probably The Firesign Theatre's first three records. On "Don't Crush That Dwarf, Hand Me The Spanner", George Tirebiter, phones for a pizza delivery. He unwittingly dials Nick Danger, on the PREVIOUS record. Danger answers the phone and replies, "Pizza to go, and no anchovies?! You've got the wrong number, -I spell my name DANGER!" . Now, that took some premeditation! I cried when Peter Bergman died.
