I’ve watched of a few of these today. How I wish I could do a demo at his academy. I don’t mind as a white belt getting demolished it’s how you learn. But being completely wore out and the have to spar with sensei Dean. And that last time when he whips you over his leg. I think that’s the wake Up call to summon all the energy and go one las time.

Beautiful...I have done Martial arts for over half my life and only discovered Jujitsu 3 years ago, I have not looked back and can say with confidence you students prove time and time again that when the tree is good so are the seeds.

+tenshunn One of my best friends trained there for a couple of years and got his Blue Belt. From the stories he tells it's a tough place. I'd like to train there someday.

I would love to be a part of your school sadly I live in Hawaii I've been training for about 4 years and your dojo seems as legit as it gets.. Lots of respect and patience from everyone, I hate rolling with ass holes

"Sadly I live in Hawaii" - I'm not sure I've ever read that sentence before! Sucks that there aren't any good schools around you though, all the best.

The purple belt style is a lot like mine. Heavy on the neck and hard top pressure.. That's the way my style is. I just got my purple and this is the standard I aim to be at before my brown... OOSSS!!!

It's like Roy's just there to come in at the end and throw him a few confidence taps after the dude from Ralph's place has crushed his soul.
@AnGhaeilge6 жыл бұрын
He was exhausted by the time he rolled with that brown belt. They have to do the exam and then roll for like an hour solid or longer. It's different than rolling fresh.

The Ralph Gracie brown belt in the white gi was extremely smooth, non forceful and simply "took what he was given." He looks like and spars like an experienced black belt. I would like to see a video of him versus Roy Dean. They are almost mirror images of each other. My money, however, is obviously on Roy Dean.

That's the brown dominance over purple
@godzy54866 жыл бұрын
No, actually they were both brown belts shortly after and it still would have been the same difference if they went for it again directly after (brown on brown). Also, the "dominance" you are referring to was probably mainly depending on the fact that the purple was already tired, and the brown just came in fresh from the side.

How come nobody has stripes on their belts?
@StillnessAcademy10 жыл бұрын
Roy only awards stripes to white belts.
@israelanaya161510 жыл бұрын
why? shouldnt it be for every belt, to see how far they have gone.
@StillnessAcademy10 жыл бұрын
Pedro Anaya "to see how far they've gone" < That's what the belt is for. :) In the early days of the BJJ, there were white belts, and blue belts. Now we have white, blue, purple, brown, black, stripes on black, red and black, and red. That's a lot of promotions. How many does a person really need?
@selimd4010 жыл бұрын
Am I seen it wrong or does people dont know? When there is the possibility to go for kneebar - two purple belts wear sparring - why looking for another longer way? (submission) I cant get that sense in BJJ :(
@xSaecredChaotixx10 жыл бұрын
Depend on the school. Some schools encourage and allow a full finished leg or ankle lock. Others, only want you to hold the position with no finish. And some, like some tournaments, dont allow any leg action at all. Typically these academys will be both gi and very traditional.
