Ole was unlucky. Great sub for several seasons, then Becks left and Ole played right wing. He was excellent, possibly even better than Beckham. Really thoughtful crosses, just like a striker would want, and a goal threat from open play too. Then he got a bad knee injury. Never recovered and retired a few years later.

@@chrishammond4381 I was there mate. I was at every Home game in old Trafford in that period, and saw Beckham from his debut, through his "purgatory" after the World Cup, and his two "Purple Patch" seasons , where he outran and wore down every full back he played against, which earned him his transfer to Madrid, ( as well as his shirt sales) He was a very good player, even without his dead ball skills. Ole on the right wing for that one season, before his injury, was at least his equal. His crosses were more thoughtful, (as an ex centre forward he knew when and how to play a through ball) he was a bit quicker over 6 yards (Becks was never teh quickest) and had a killer shot when cutting in from the right ( rarely part of Becks game) Football is all about opinions, and if yours is different from mine , i respect that.( even I f I know I'm right 😁😁)

If Scholes was Italian Spanish would have been euro footballer of the year
@magicfc100010 ай бұрын
Was he better than Pirlo and Gattuso? I'm asking coz those two were on another level also. Scholes was part of the England team that failed to qualify for the Euro 2008, which Italy played until semifinals at Penalty shoot outs 😅

Scholes was a world class attacking midfielder but defensively he was barely average

In today’s game Shearer would have been sent off in the first few mins definitely in the first 20 mins

Weird that Forlan at Utd and Forlan at the clubs he played for later (Vilareal and Atletico Madrid) was night and day difference. Even at international tournaments he just looked a much more confident and deadly forward player compared to how he looked at Utd. I could never explain it

Such things happen in life, at different levels. However, explaining them becomes very difficult as you said

I was in Newcastle that day. The local paper was saying Dyer should replace Scholes in the England squad. We laughed at this on a full bus of toon goons. Then the drubbing ensued

Crazy to think how much damage Shearer did before getting a yellow, in today's game the first elbow would of been a red 😂
