Bringing Wash back is easy . After the crash landing and the Alliance is fighting the Reavers and crew . The Alliance Med. team grabs Wash's body and uses their High Tech Medical procedures to repair him thus saving his life , so they could Interrogate him of course .. Done !!! After that they memory wipe him and leave him on one of the back water planets Until a few yrs later Mal & Gang run into him reigniting his memories . Would work and makes sense .

it would be even more interesting from a story telling perspective if he didn't get his memories back, not right away at least. then you've got this interesting dynamic going on with him and the crew for a while.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but I know it's really quiet and the audience is really loud so here's what's being said (from what I can hear): Audience member: Okay, I'm gonna ask a question you guys probably don't get asked very often. But, uh, what do you think the chances are of another Serenity movie..? (audience laughs) Alan: (Honestly have no idea what he actually said there? feel free to comment if you can figure it out!) (audience laughing) Adam: Look, at another comic con Joss explained this sort of Camelot that sits there now, and it would be risky to go back and try and live up to what it was, or what it is in our minds. So, it could probably just sit there as this beautiful Jewel - *looks at Jewel Staite* - (audience laughs and awws) or rather gemstone if you will. (audience laughs) and we would all miss it -- DO miss it, but it would still be there as this beautiful thing. You know, if Joss figures out a way to make it happen again, I think we'd all agree to do it. But, uh, at this point, we don't know. He's been busy! Alan: yeah, i think-- i think--- I think yes that IS what Joss said wasn't it? BUT, I also think anything is possible. Because Joss went and did another TV show for FOX after Firefly was canceled, and I mean, who saw THAT one? (audience laughs and cheers) and he's all like "I will NEVER, I will NEVER! mm-mm-mm-mm", and then one afternoon after (unintelligible), he came and was like like "let's do the show!" (audience laughs) If he picks an idea that he likes, and applies it to Serenity - - Adam (to Alan): I'm just spitballing here, but how would you bring Wash back....? (deafening screaming and cheers from audience) Alan: (unintelligible response to Adam)... I think it was someone in Dubai, at a Dubai festival that was really great, uh, a comic con in Dubai. Yeah, someone just dropped the idea of "yeah, let's just get Alan in, he's got no life, I'm pretty sure his schedule is open." and uh, but, the idea is that CrAzY River starts flying the space ship, uh, which she would, and um, that I would be a figment of her imagination. (audience whoops and cheers) and talk to her -- talk to her about things. But I'm just wondering who else would be keeping me company in CrAzY River's mind. (audience laughs) No, but it's the best one I've heard though! Yeah, I think it could work, because that way Wash would be able to comment on what's going on. Joss always said flashbacks, but that could be so limited. Adam (to Alan): Like Gandalf? Come back and sort of... Jewel (to Alan): With a long white beard. Alan: Wash in white. - *nodding* - White-Wash. (Audience cheers and whoops loudly)

If the original Serenity had a data recorder, would that include active/inactive comms from the cockpit? Cloning and psychological cameos sound interesting, but the most plausible way for Tudyk to play Wash again is via an AI voice / hologram

There is no timeframe between the end of the TV series in the beginning of the movie! Meaning they could pick up the TV series again at any point in the storyline, of a number of years before it hits the movie timeline!

Yeah... but they are all 16 years oder than back when Firefly came out. Maybe that'd work for Jayne as Adam doesn't seem to age much, but River and Kaylee were basically kids and both actresses are now full-grown women, it'd just seem off.

This entire show is set in the future, there is nothing to say that they can't go back and transplant him via DNA and make a clone of him.

Wouldn't be the same Wash. You would not only have to have the same DNA, but you would have to have transplantable memories, similar to how a computer works. You don't have the software, the hardware is useless.

@@isaiahwelch8066 yea but if they wanted to bring him back they would have to find a way to get it, or there can be an entire episode arc where he downloaded himself into an encoder on a distant planet and they have to chase it down.

@@tactrix1h : Actually, the scenario I see is this: What if Wash -- the guy on the crew -- was a cyborg, and they didnt know it the whole time? First, they didnt check the body upon impact in Serenity -- and considering the Alliance saved their bacon, I would think it could be swung that the reason why the Operative let them go, was because the Alliance got the data from the cyborg's memory. This leads to Wash, himself an Alliance officer -- under a different name -- basically getting fed up with the secrets the Alliance has -- and the twist in the plot is, Wash was the original Alliance liaison officer with Blue Sun, in terms of the super-soldier project River was the subject of. And the whole reason why the cyborg was sent out originally, was that it allowed them to try and track Book. Ironically, Wash and Book knew of each other, but had never met each other, until being on Serenity. Once the memory data is retrieved, Wash finally gets fed up with the Alliance, when he is told they want to send out a second cyborg. Once he learns this, he decides it's time to make his break. He uses his authority to basically download the memories and other information into his own mind (basically, having those memories as the cyborg lived them), which wipes the storage device at the same time. What pisses off the Alliance is, they hadn't had time to actually analyze the data. But Wash, before he does this, uses the second clone, and duplicates the implants he himself has, and inserts them into the clone. However, there is no data on any implant for the Alliance to retrieve. Wash then fakes his own death by committing suicide, at which point he throws the clone down a 70-story skyscraper on the Core planet he lives on. The resulting mangled body buys Wash enough time to get out of Dodge. At the same time, Wash takes up the name we know, and discards his Alliance name. He then, in-show, spends the whole season trying to find, then catch up with, Mal and the crew. The season finale is basically Wash tracking them, and when the crew gets into a major scrape with Blue Sun, he swoops in and saves the day. The final scene is Wash turning Zoe around and upon seeing her shocked face, says, "Hi honey. I'm...home, I guess?", all while giving what I call the "Wash Half-Smile/Half-Smirk."

I think Joss should take Firefly to Telltale, and do a season or two to continue Firefly, but that's just me esp after Guardians of the Galaxy they'd be able to use the tech used for the Milano ship movements on Serenity...

i've always thought the events of serenity would be the ending... but they could bring the show back and have it take place between season 1 and the events of serenity. and they could do it animated too. leaving lots of options. i only worry about stuff happening after serenity because i don't want characters dead or gone. i want them all. but maybe they just have to do a multiverse scenario and start over with new canon. firefly A... now firefly B.

I could see that, actually. If River can send out energy, why couldn't she absorb energy? The way the human mind works is almost like we're disconnected computers with no network connections. If River were to download Wash's energy, and that frequency, I'm sure she could re-upload it if they could find: A) a cloned body of Wash, and 2) a machine to download the information into. Information is just energy that hasnt been de-crypted yet.

@@omalleycaboose5937 : Perhaps. But I think it would be due to the fact that she is, in essence, super-intelligent. I understand River, because my mind, my brain, works at a much higher clip than most individuals. As a result, I have to "dumb down" conversations I have with most other people -- and I think in River's mind, she runs analysis and other calculations in her mind constantly, which is why many people dont understand her. Given this, I think she not only can read minds, i.e., telepathy, but I think she also has observational skills in overdrive, not to mention a huge prediction/probability package. Militarily, she would be the ultimate soldier or pilot, if she could be controlled.

Killing Wash was 1000% unnecessary. People fell in love with Firefly because of its characters, not their corpses.

I can't understand why Netflix or Amazon haven't bankrolled another season or two. The last two seasons of the Expanse sucked, and Firefly would be better no matter what.
