@@m.d.764 I wouldn't call it unoptimized, I would just call it built to accomodate hardware that isn't out yet. yes it's very heavy, but the game scales incredibly well. I'm playing on a ryzen 3800x and a RTX 2080, and using the PS5 performance mode settings at 1440p balanced DLSS but with shadow resolution and ground clutter turned to high, so still beating base PS5 in resolution, shadows, and clutter, and the game looks phenomenal, one of the best looking games I've ever played on fairly low settings ( most setting are set to low/medium ), and I'm getting around 60-80 fps depending on the scene, and I could be getting above 60 at all times with 1080p quality which also still looks fantastic. if you had to make the game look like doodoo to get it to run well I'd call that unoptimized, but it still looks incredibly good at low settings.

The PS5 pro got these PC and xbox dudes in a blender....maybe someone should mention that if you are using DLSS on PC in quality mode the native rendering resolution is 960p to output at 1440p. And before you weirdo's say that PC can run this game native....stop it! We are on a game analysis channel, everyone here knows that unless you are on 4080/4090 (so a 2000.00+ pc) you aren't running this game native 4k 60fps with RT. The sad of this community is getting out of hand, the mental gymnastics used to try to downplay technical advances on one platform while giving praise to another is wild!

Yes! I am PC player and I think what the pro offers is pretty impressive. For a first iteration PSSR has me quite floored... I didn't think it would be that much of an upgrade over FSR. Also, the whole "you can do better for a similar price point on PC" is puzzling, completely overseeing the advantage of optimizing a game for a specific hardware and technology. That fact alone will have all PCs in a similar price point beat in almost a landslide. I also don't understand the "hate train" the entire gaming industry is going through these days anyway. The toxicity is reaching a whole new high, and that is saying something...

Ray Tracing is the coolest feature innovation in awhile. If a game has heavy lighting sections I always enjoy the RT over a high fps. But sometimes I alternate the modes based on the environments

Because remember, they are both relying on PSSR and part of PSSR's feature is RT ability. I think they down played the RT feature in the performance mode, because people will be expecting too much from the performance mode (60fps) as far as RT goes. We'll see though.👍

4k native is a useless goal, even if you have a 4090 you'll want to take advantage of DLSS and run a lower native resolution, there's no reason not to. 4k native is not a real practical use-case at all, anywhere. DLSS looks better than native by the way, CONSIDERABLY better at 4k, and even DLAA barely looks any better than Quality.

The title doesn't say whether it's hardware or software RT, and since the consoles have RT hardware in them, and the PS5 Pro specifically has better RT hardware vs the PS5, it's very reasonable to ask (based on the video title, without having watched the entire video) whether they're referring to one or the other here. Note that I asked which was being employed, I didn't ask what the difference is. 🤦‍♂️

The pro performance mode already fulfils its promise: you get 60 fps plus fidelity resolution plus graphical improvements. The pro quality is just a bonus mode. You do not have RT on the base console so Remedy actually went beyond of what they needed to do. Maybe better naming for those modes would be better. And for everyone who complain why the RT mode is not 60fps, go and see the pc specs for 4k60 with RT for this game or STFU

But I'm sure the devs of this game won't put out something where you absolutely can't deliberately tell the quality and smoothness from one another (that being between the base model and Pro model) and between the different modes. So when they state these specs, they are merely giving you an idea of what you will be able to get and see. And these modes are also so you can choose your setting depending on the type of setup you have as far as tv or monitor, but at a more even, yet wider range...considering you're not going to know all of what people have. I think it's very smart tbh, and people will just have to wait and see, and be honest in their reviews about what actually is. But yes, you aren't the only one to just scrape the surface of what's being said, so I can see how you'd think that you'd basically be switch between modes like on the base model. These modes will just be an improvement to the base model and tbh, easier for devs to implement. But only customers can really determine that. I assure you though, devs themselves love to game as well, so they are trying to improve things as gamers and as how we'll see it--they want the same.

PS5 Pro will be the living room champion: high-end modern TV panels have been at 4K@120hz for a couple of years now… so i really don’t see a reason to go over 120fps… or even 60+ with VRR, for a console… and 1200p upscaled with high levels of detail to native 4K at living sitting distance is fine… However, 4K@240+ monitors need an insane GPU to power them; in this case, powering it with something like the PS5 Pro would be a bit of a waste… The crazy thing is though… if you have one of the those monitors, and you want new games running full resolution at those high fps… that new 5090 is going to get you there with DLSS… but, it’s also going to cost you 2,500 dollars… and the only other option (the 4090 with DLSS), is still going to have troubles on some games hitting 4k200+fps… I think the PS5 Pro is a nice boast, and PSSR in the way it’s been implemented as a universal tool; seems to take the best of both worlds approach of both DLSS and FSR… We’ll have to see how much of interest there is… but honestly, what else is there this holiday season? A switch bundle?

I would’ve expected at least RT shadows on top to justify the low internal resolution for the 30fps mode but nope, just reflections and minor graphical changes still at a low frame rate. The ps5 pro is already bearing out to be an unnecessary mid gen refresh, few games have truly pushed the base ps5, the series S is still the last-gen baseline platform that hampers all cross platform games and then Sony has been releasing very few worthwhile exclusives to take advantage of the base PS5’s power. Demon’s Souls remake should’ve been the expectation for what AAA games this gen would look like but ever since then we’ve largely just gotten “aaa” cross gen games that look like upscaled Xbox One/PS4 games and then Sony’s cross gen games like God of War Ragnarok which had to be built to run on over 10 year old hardware as a baseline and didn’t really take advantage of ps5’s hardware.

Surely though, most are gonna play the performance mode. Rt is nice but not at 30fps. Raytracing is a bloody nightmare for current gen consoles. I might be wrong, but I don't see this console selling that well. Mark cerny struggled to sell this with his presentation. Half of youtube are trying to make it sound amazing. And the truth is, it's more than twice the price of a ps5, with good but not great performance advantages.

I still don’t get what’s in this GPU. It seems like it’s only PSSR being used instead of FSR. Is it not a more powerful GPU as well? I don’t get why games like Last of Us need to use PSSR instead of just getting a native resolution bump from 1440p to 4K. Or here, there’s no raise to internal resolution. And I get they’re bumping up other settings, but at the same time is this just a PSSR box or is there even any additional power in the GPU outside of this.

Don't count on it. PC's highest visual fidelity available includes path tracing that makes 4080 and 4090s rely on DLSS and frame generation to stay above 60 FPS even with a 1440p output.

You’re also talking about FSR upscaling (which is the worst one) vs PSSR (which is in its first interaction, but seemingly closer to the quality of DLSS) I’ll take up scaling from 800p over 1080p if it’s better and cleaner. Stop worrying about the base resolution and look at the results. As upscalers get better and better, they will be able to do more with lower resolutions.

FSR looks fine on my Rx 6800 in this game. I assume you mean FSR on console. Co's it looked great on my rig. Course it looks better with path tracing on my new 4080 super. Which i decided to buy instead of getting a PS5 Pro and seems like it was the right choice. I can get like decent FPS using FG and DLSS quality.maxed out settings with max path tracing. . Looks phenominal. with a 1440p internal resolution upscaled. Take that anyday over this.

This is a good example of why I love pc gaming. I get to make the settings to exactly were I'd like them. It's a different performance and quality mode... performance = base PS5 quality mode at 60fps and quality mode has better RT, more detail,... and so on. There's still an option for people who prefer (more) quality over fps. So what? These are also easy day one patches and not games developed with the Pro in mind from the start.
