Intro piano and ending is perfect. Unexceptional melancholy beautiful EDM-song ever heard. Have emotional memories about this song 2016. After leaving my friend's in NYC had to go sit and cry to JFK terminal gate after hearing again from loudspeakers at JFK-airport. Listening during that week at his appartment and knew won't able to visit NYC again since he had moved to Providence.

When I heard the song for the first time, the only thing I noticed was the (in my opinion) exaggerated use of the side chains. I've now gotten used to it.

I don't think having simple chord structure is bad in itself. Listen for something like Ego Death by Polyphia and it has simple chords but insanely compex way to actually playing those chords. They intentionally take pop song like structure and then sprinkle a LOT of intricate details on top. This results in song that feels familiar during first listen but contains enough small things to make it sound interesting even highly skilled musicians.
