Beautiful, Alanis Morissette. Your song was sung as if you were singing to your friend Lisa Marie Presley. So heartfelt and moving. Thank you, Alanis, for saying good-bye in song and in such a passionate way. Lisa Marie and Elvis heard you in Heaven, as they heard Axl Rose.

They say the dead are always present at their own funeral. The unmatched pathos in this wondrous piece of music, to me, it says this is what I want you all to know of my beautiful and sad life. I would've felt with the over powering love of letting go that I had expressed myself. Only upstaged by Alanis' performance.

It was written after Chester Bennington died
@grizzlymandias9431 Жыл бұрын
It wasn't written for LMP. I also don't believe it was written to honor Chester Bennington, although since the song was written about mental health. Alanis debuting the song at the "Linkin Park and Friends: Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington" concert made sense since Chester did struggle with mental illness and died due to suicide. According to Alanis herself she said “Today is #MentalHealthAction Day. I'm sharing a song entitled ‘Rest’ written specifically about those of us who struggle with depression and anxiety, isolation, suicidal ideation and the profound despair that mental illness can plunge us into.”

It beautiful, but did Lisa Marie Presley go back to using drugs and suicide. That what this song about. Rest in peace sweet Lisa Marie
@grizzlymandias9431 Жыл бұрын
Actually it is about mental health. Posting the five-minute song on KZbin, Alanis Morissette wrote: “Today is #MentalHealthAction Day. I'm sharing a song entitled ‘Rest’ written specifically about those of us who struggle with depression and anxiety, isolation, suicidal ideation and the profound despair that mental illness can plunge us into.”
@donryan3153 Жыл бұрын
The lyrics are in no way about suicide, although self medicating could be looked at as a slow suicide since its self destructive. The specifics don't matter Alanis and everyone there understood it was appropriate.
