LSU Gamer the posters that say: save the heart/save the earth. Clear message.
@blu9987 Жыл бұрын

the message of this song is that if you want to change the world, you have to change your own heart first. for example, if you're against war, then you need to eliminate war in your own life, in your own relationships. because what happens "underneath" shows up as "bigger symptoms out there." whatever you're against or for, make sure you embody it. that's the message of this song

I just cried watching this video. I just love how she made another sort of metaphor or comparison (precious illusions) with the message of the song. This time more sutil. I used to not like this video or song, I didn't get it. But I love it now. Its like this love anthem with long chorus her therapeutic voice to the rhythm of the heart. Genius. So explicit, yet not obvious. I love how explicit the heart and earth images are which led to a beautiful aesthetic of the video. Also how it ends with that critique of first love yourself then save the planet. I also love how she pushes him away then smiles at his picture on the phone and hugs him. No self love=no love=fight. Self love=love=make up. I love how she's not afraid of singing about real life stuff.

This is such a deep and meaningful song! I love the idea of Saving the Heart and the Earth! In the lead up to 2022 we need to do both especially Save the heart, tell all those haters and bullies to go away and stop self doubting yourself and questioning whether you are good enough because you are, stop those horrible feelings and defend yourself like Alanis is ripping down the posters!

i remember still being in that space of the diehard fan wanting her to have the overdue massive comeback and the glamorous return (even though that was never what she wanted or was aiming for, and probably never going to happen for a 34yo woman in the pop music industry in 2008), and as much i loved this song instantly, i just wrote this video off like a cute little flyer taped to my wall... over a decade later, not having that stupid expectation, the message and the beauty of this visual really hits where it was meant to.

For me this is one of her best songs from what I consider one of her top 3 best albums. I've always loved the lead guitar part of the 2nd chorus until the end. Simple and yet a perfect fit for the beautiful vocal/lyrics. I wish she played this live more often. 👏🙌✌️
@sizzlexc13 жыл бұрын
Solid song. I think what she's saying is that we should strive to achieve what makes us happy, self actualization. No more "heart-blocking". We should stop "waging war" , "jumping ship" and steer that ship to a place where we will be content.

I love how I'll never get to the bottom of the lyrics completely or completely relate to it (in the sense of fights in unhappy marriage) but it will always magically have me drawn back to itself when I need to touch the untouched hurt part of myself and that of my own smallness and insignificance. We are how much we love the other. Thank You, Alanis, forever.

the way she puts emphasis on words in a verse you wouldnt normally hear that done with makes this song special, the way she sings is just amazing. example - "There is no diiiiiff - er - uunnnce" like in no song every has that been sung that way, i remember the first few times i heard that i thought she said "there is no end for us" but nope shes just elongating how she sings one word, and she continues to do that for the entire chorus. its just crazy to me how different that is.
