Alanis Morissette's "Uninvited" is from the 1998 film, "City of Angels," starring Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan. Obviously, with a title like that, it takes place in Los Angeles. It's about angels and the humans they're guardians of, one in particular. Regardless of the reasoning behind why the song was written, the lyrics were so spot on, they may as well have been specifically written for the film. If you liked this song, check out "I Remain" by Alanis Morissette. It's off another film. This time, it's the 2010 film, "Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time," starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Ben Kingsley, Gemma Arterton, and Alfred Molina.

This song was actually written for and about the movie City of Angels. If you watch that, you'll understand why who she's singing to is 'Uninvited'

There are two stories I've heard about the origin of this story. One is that it was a response to her being stalked. The other is that it's about her experience as a minor being pursued by much older men. I lean toward the older man interpretation. When she says, "You speak of my love like you have experienced love like mine before. But that is not allowed." I read that as he has a history of going after young girls and they both know it's wrong. The ending is particularly creepy to me because she is speaking as a young girl we'll knows there is a taboo against their relationship and is not comfortable but is being persuaded to accept him. When she says his being uninvited is "an unfortunate slight" and that she doesn't "think him unworthy" it reminds me of how women are supposed to always "let him down easy" even if he is being presumptuous, rude, or scary. Sorry. I love this song and I love Alanis Morissette and I love writing essays.

Most definitely about older men chasing young girls

I read that it's about somebody in the music industry trying to use his power to shag her. I think that sounds most plausible.

Songs about a stalker. I never heard anyone call a creepy old man an unfortunate slight.
