Alanis. You are a beautiful soul who is on a wonderful journey. I admire your wisdom. It would be wonderful if you could be bring pia back and let her speak almost the entire time. She has amazing things to teach.

Loved hearing from Pia, all she had to say, and Alanis was a great and gracious host! Really helps to understand co-dependent behavior. Excellent Talk! Seriously! Pia has been a therapist for many decades and really knows this stuff!

That was me for 20 years too. I like to tell people I was Alanis Morissette when I was younger and now that I’m older I’m more like Jewel😂 Less interrupting though, we want to hear Pia. ✌️❤️

I feel like Alanis is interjecting and talking so much because she's really excited to be able to talk to Pia, who understands her. I honestly don't think Pia minded. I think the conversation was very interesting and I related to a lot that Alanis was saying. This isn't an interview. It's a conversation and yes, I do think Pia should have been given more time to talk while Alanis listened more but I still really enjoyed this conversation.

Awesome Alanis. I like Pia! She seems to not hold back at al, like she holds zero punches. Her framing on what codependent is has been hugely helpful for me in navigating relations, from the professional work I do and my own personal stuff. Thanks for hosting her

Thank you, Alanis, for holding a sacred space around trauma and shame, and for hosting such a wonderful healer like Pia Mellody. Some here have criticized you for speaking too much during the interview but it’s clear to me you’ve done the work and your questions and reflections were helpful imo. 🙏✨

I agree with some of the comments below about Alanis sharing way too much and not allowing the guest to expound more.I hate it when people invite others to be interviewed and then end up using the encounter to show more about their own knowledge than allow the guest to share theirs.Its fine to clarify and fill in with your own examples or but please allow a guest to speak,otherwise why even invite the guest? just do a one woman monologue.

Wow...a boundary Alanis could work on is to allow others the space and time to speak and answer her questions. She's asked Pia on to talk, but Alanis does all the talking and only pauses long enough to get affirmation that she's right. It should be called Alanis talks about Pia's work, and she didn't even need to invite Pia.

This is a really frustrating experience. I wish Ms. Morissette would give the brilliant Pia Mellody some space to actually talk. A more appropriate title for this would be Soliloquy by Alanis Morissette.

Can't listen to the whole of this because I was hoping to listen to Pia, but I'm hearing Alanís mostly. I'd have preferred to hear Pia speak on the theories she's developed. Even if this is a conversation and not a straight out interview, I still get the sense that Alanís dominates. Feeling icky

Dear Alanis: Question: It has to do with Prosody. The juxtaposition of the prosody of your speech compared to Pia’s is a good example of contrast. Can you illuminate and paint a picture of what your perspective is on prosody - tone, cadence, sound, pauses, all of the part of speech that effects how our message is felt, heard, etc. While I love Pia’s wisdom, her prosody is not necessarily something that seems like it has been sculpted to be more digestible or enjoyable. It’s the same thing we see with people like Elizabeth Warren or Bernie Sanders. Like, what and how would voice lessons etc do to make someone like Pia more palletable
@jeffkoe3105 жыл бұрын
I think the severe and early abuse is what caused Pia's unusual presentation. She had to learn to make clear and firm boundaries because her boundaries were so profoundly violated.
