What's always worth pointing out is that today's mid-size trucks are effectively yesterday's full size trucks. This Colorado is the size of a '90's - 00's Silverado.

I purchased the bison about a month ago. I’ve taken it off road as well as my daily driver. I love it. Only thing i hate is it has no digital rear view mirror and the wireless charger doesn’t work. Gas milage varies city i get around 16.4 miles and highway around 18.5. It says 16/16 but it does get better on highway. I have gotten used to the no functional rear view mirror by adjusting my side view mirrors and if i need to see behind me quickly i just use the camera. Great review though. My wife that is 5’5 loves to drive it and just shimmies right on up in it. I purchased a foldable step stool, that i keep in the back seat, and my 87 year old mother uses to get into the truck without any assistance. So far I’m loving this truck and i came from a 2010 taco!

I’ve been watching ZR2 Bison reviews for the last few weeks and finally got around to yours and I will say, it’s my favorite one so far. We all get it- this truck is a BEAST off roading, and there are plenty of reviews that show this off. What I appreciate is the viewpoint of just driving this truck day to day because 90% of the time, that’s what people will use this $65k for. Love the humor, music, and just your overall vibe of it. The criticisms are definitely welcomed and just being real about having to deal with the cons of the truck. Keep it up!

I'm surprised how tall the ZR2 Bison actually is. You were practically the same height as an F-150 Raptor at 24:40!! I totally agree with the need for a rearview camera mirror, at least in the configuration you drove. Like you said, GM has that option in many models and it works really well. Having that huge spare tire really cuts out your rear visibility.

The rear tire blocking the rear view seems to be a gripe with alot of people. Me, personally, I love it. At first when I test drove a Bison I thought “wtaf is this thing?” But I overlooked it and drove off the lot with my bison same day. As I’ve driven it, I’ve come to appreciate the rear view being blocked so I can’t see a**holes tailgating me when I’m already going 10+ over the speed limit. They don’t exist, because I can’t see them, therefore, not my problem :)

Yeah, that no digital rear view mirror is a massive oversight on GM’s part, especially with that 35 blocking so much of the view. I own a Silverado 1500 ZR2 and had to haul an AC unit, and it blocked so much of my rear view that I had to use the digital camera mirror to see at all. Massive safety issue for sure on that Bison Colorado.

For a comparison, my 2018 Silverado 2WD gets 22 mpg normally, even loaded, up to 28 mpg best. It has a 5.3L V8 that goes to 4 cylinder when cruising. Why didn't they just put the 5.3 in the Colorado? Of course, the axle ratio has a lot to do with gas mileage.

It feels like what this thing needs, ironically, is even wider fender flares. Hear me out. The biggest problem with this truck is steering angle. A wider front track would, of course, need to be complemented by a wider rear track as well. To get the tires to stay legal from the factory, it would need EVEN more fender clearance - and that clearance can't come from the inner fenders.
