Hey Allan, great video! I recently had a problem with a client. He unracked the bar for a squat, and I proceeded to give him the command "Train Untaaaaiiimmmmmeed". He immediately threw the barbell out the window, and began humping my leg. Please advise.

Thanks for this man. I'm an aspiring trainer/coach and I have a few of theses problems. I've recently started training an old friend who noticed my transformation and started asking advice. So we agreed that he would get free training, and in a way I also get free training. I'm going to watch this a few more times and make some notes. Thanks again man! Oh...and get your ass to jujimufu's garage ASAP!

This was great and super helpful! Ever since I started powerlifting I've had a lot of women I know ask for me to help them start lifting. I really try to incorporate everything I've learned from you to help them. And I also have gotten a little insight by getting some in person training from your fellow starting strength coach, Niki Sims! Both of you are amazing, and I will always reference your knowledge to anyone, whether a beginner or seasoned lifter :)

The "Why" part in this video over analyzing and explaining everything you're teaching them, is becoming more common nowadays. as a coach/trainer, you have the knowledge and the understanding. But you're the one that needs to digest it and spit it back up in an easy and understandable way. Laymans terms. Too many people nowadays trying to sound smart by throwing up all the Chris duffin and mike Israetel material they just read. The smartest trainers and coaches make things as simple and easily understandable as possible. If they ask, then you can go into it more.

How do you decide the working weights for each exercise before starting the linear progression with the SS method?
@Uncle_Tijikun7 жыл бұрын
Caner ERBAY you start with an empty barbell and do a set of five. If form is correct and the weight is light you add 5/10/25 lbs and you do another set of five. You keep repeating the process until the bar starts to slow down and you feel another jump, even if minimum, could compromise your technique. You do two more sets of five with the same weight and you build up from there. Have fun with your novice LP!
@canererbay88427 жыл бұрын
Davide Cerullo thanks for the answer and good wishes. I had asked that for when I would train other people, though. And I thought the starting weight to do 3x5s would be somewhat lighter than the point you just described. To allow the lifters to practise the technique and gain some momentum before they start grinding under their new maxes every training session.
