So what are you gonna do? Ban backyard pools? 😢 That guy has a point who said "in the water kids think everyone's watching them, when in reality no one's watching them." Interesting comment. All I hope for us that people will Stop using kids as excuses to ban things.

Growing up my neighbor had a above ground pool. My parents put me in swimming lessons at the local YMCA and Boys and Girls Club to make sure I knew how to swim. Treading water is one of the most important things you can learn if the water is too deep.

Honestly… these people all know they need to watch their kids by the pool. They literally know. They either just aren’t doing it, or America is quickly becoming a horrible place to have kids. Do you know anyone who has an extra 2k a month to spare?? I don’t know many who do. But America has made having a family and a home impossible to do without both parents working full time. We see our kids a few hours a day after work. We drop them off with random people who will never treat them the way we would. Nobody I know can afford to stay at home with them. What’s even the point of trying? We don’t even raise them, and most of us can’t afford full time help watching them. 4th of July was a work day for most of us, and the kids are alone until mom and dad both drag their tired butts home. I don’t think they need to learn pool safety, I think our government needs to take a good hard look at what “family values” really means to most Americans. Create an economy where parents can be home, and stop pretending like the system isn’t killing kids, and creating little monsters who basically raise themselves.

I agree, if the parents have to work, provide reasonable, and affordable care. Also everyone, adults and children should learn how to swim. Toddlers MUST be watched around pools, it is extremely easy for a baby to fall into a pool and drown, right next to the edge, and they can wander off in a blink of an eye...into the neighbor's yard...or too far out into the waves or deep end. Toddlers can drown in a bathtub. They can be taught easily how to float on their backs, and how to grab onto the edge of the pool, lifesaving skills...even if they can't swim. But perhaps it is a pipe-dream, but provided daycare should be legislated, and swimming skills should be taught just like literacy in schools.

Every single pool in the video has a fence around the yard or deck but not around the pool to prevent access when not in use... Maybe, just maybe, that is part of the problem?

Coincidences don't mean much. If anything, they simply verify and re-verify that you just never know when your hours are *UP*. Choose what you do with them wisely. D34th will be on His way no matter what, and if you don't have the right bus fare for the trip beyond the void veil... well... I'm afraid you won't like what the alternative is.

Pool fences should be a mandatory regulation like they are in Australia. Yes, they might be an eye sore, but it stops people and pets from accidentally falling in.

Pool fences are the LAW in New Jersey, you have a pool in your yard it must be fenced in! Just as important parents HAVE to watch their children, simple as that!

@@momma3204 Not sure how NJ is relevant when this video is about NY. Kids run around, sneak out of the house, and run around the yard all the time; you can't expect a parent to always keep an eye on your kid, especially when you're in your own home with chores to do while raising a child unless you want to constrain them to a singular room. The pool at 0:25 is completely exposed and a gate around that area would have denied that child any chance of getting near the water. You don't ALWAYS have to keep an eye on your child when the proper preventative safety measures are taken because parent's aren't expected to always have their guard up and to keep an eye on their child, especially in a safe space that would be considered their home. I doubt this even crossed their mind as something that would happen to them until it did.
