It's not "nourishing for the soul" it's frigging exhausting. Videos like this unfortunately romantize a life that isn't as Hallmark Movie as this. But then again, real people doing backbreaking labor in frigid conditions and doesn't look like it stepped off a xmas greeting card gets the same amount of views does it?

Thanks for the winter interlude. We spent Eight years off grid in Alaska in the 1970s and Solstice was always celebrated. Back then we had a dog team rather than a snow machine but I will admit they sure are handy. My wife and I are enjoying your videos.

Those drone shots was like a Christmas card in it selfe. Beautiful. The darkest day of the year means 3 hours of daylight where i am and i cant wait for the return of longer days, day by day. Love winter, especially late winter, near spring when the sun is beating down on us but the snow is still deep. Also, for tips, he needs to be careful tossing wood into an ice cold and brittle tobagan. It's pliable at normal temps, but brittle and prone to breaking cold.

Love your place and can relate with the life style. I have a place in Idaho and during the winter, not only do I heat with the wood stove, but I also cook every meal on it as well. I only use the gas stove when the wood stove is not being used.

When cleaning the inside glass on the stove just use a damp cloth dipped into some of the ash......voila! Same principal as diamond cutting diamond.
