I used to have a dog named Harvey he was my best friend and every now and then I have these sweet and very vivid dreams about him. Glad to see you home. And outside enjoying what you like. I'm not in to going out and spending the night I'm to old. But I did get a load of wood today. I'm going to be working with my Grandson on the Flutes I'm going to teach him how to make them. I'm learning that certain notes and frequencies. Are very healing 🙏 one woman told me that the flute she got from me healed her cancer. That's one of the reasons I make them it's all about healing 🙏 you are playing the flute beautiful dear. Thank you 😊❤️ thank you Brooke ❤️ I really think highly of your family. No it's the reason I want my grandson to help me he's good with music and he knows it better than me. I had a camping kitty in the 1970's. Pure black cat named Spooky. We lived under a walnut tree for a year and a half, without a tent. Some would call it "homeless" but we were comfortable. She would catch rabbit and bring to me. I would clean the rabbits, she got all the good guts and stuff, and I would cook and eat the rest of it. She would also "gift" me mice, but I let her have those to herself. 1975 we sent on a backpacking trip across California, Nevada, Utah, and Colorado. One place in Nevada I woke up to see a free range cow's face 2 foot from my face, looking down at me and sniffing me. One spot in Colorado where I stayed a week I had to keep Spooky on a leash because she wanted to hunt the rattlesnake that were only 10 foot from our camp site. I had read that snakes won't cross over a hemp rope, so put a rope all around where I slept on the ground next to the camp fire. I have since read that it doesn't work... but I never had a rattlesnake try to crawl in my sleeping bag. One morning a state trooper stopped by and said that was his favorite place to shoot rattlesnakes, and couldn't believe I was sleeping on the ground, and that I had a cat. On the way back home I was sleeping on the ground in the Nevada desert we woke up completely covered in about a foot of snow. It acted as an insulator and I woke up sweating because it was too warm in my sleeping bag. --- My favorite camping musical instrument is a harmonica. I don't totally suck at playing it.. I blow too :> One time when out in the wilderness for 4 months gold mining I made a trombone out of a transmission filler funnel and a couple pieces of PVC pipe. People told me they could hear me playing it from 5 miles away.

I have a directory on my hard drive where I can clip / paste stories I wrote to eventually compile into a book. But I keep forgetting to save them. --- I've always had pretty good luck with rattlesnake. I was once out prospecting for gold with my 20 year old dog, named Son, and we made base camp under an about 30 foot around pyroclastic flow "boulder" (made up of volcanic ash and stones.) I had concerns about rattlesnake because I had seen quite a few Northern Pacific rattlers in the area, and heard mountain lion screams at night. I wasn't too scared, I had my pistol and a Winchester rifle with me. We stayed there 2 weeks and never had any problems. While there I caught the only German Brown trout I've ever caught. It was attracted to the smell of my socks that I had soaking in the creek. It seemed intoxicated by the smell of my socks, I was able to fence it in using stones. Then using a tiny bare fish hook kept dragging the hook in front of it's mouth till it finally got mad enough to bite it. Then a huge crawdad (it was like a small lobster) was attracted to my smelly socks and I was able to just reach down and grab it with my hands. Boy did we eat good for a couple days :>

I could smell the popcorn, coffee and fried bread. My dads been gone 10 years this October, even though it seems like yesterday. Wow that sourdough frybread reminded me of Naan bread. Then you broke out the cinnamon/sugar , and you turned it into a scrumptioously delicious campfire pasty ; with lot's of crunch! Yum. Yeah, they say the 19th century was colder than the 20th, and the 21st is...? I dunno, Mother Nature's been having hot flashes in the wintertime. Upper 60['s , and lower 70's in January, wow. Then we have what is called down here in Southern New Jersey, "Sprinter" that being winter rolls right on into the summer season, bizarre! Yep, Maysie loves her ma, and so does Hobie cat, and so did your poor cat that passed, Jesse, (sorry for your loss .) Love hearing the caw caw caw of crows. P.s. Man alive, I haven't had Jiffy Pop since the 1970's when I was a kid. Campfire Jiffy Pop..whaaat?! Talk about good! You're the coolest , Girl in the Woods!

what a blessing to be out in the woods! moved to Phoenix from Ohio and sure do miss the woods bit I do escape up north in the pines! Also saw your Tucson trip and Grand Canyon! can't wait for camping to open up and Kayaking! thanks again!

Your videos really unstressed me last night. I watched a few of your videos and it relaxed the pounding in my chest. I love the camp fire. I used to winter tent camp often in VT, PA and NH, now it's cabins for OLDER me. Having "wild" land to safely retreat to in this pandemic is the best thing right now. Love your style, your quietness, your insights and simple observations of the obvious in the great outdoors. Keep up the great, (and needed) work/fun that you do. Be safe while YOU help us.

Thank you for sharing your adventures. You inspire this 60 year old with COPD. I used to be adventurous when I could breathe. I try my best to exercise and keep my my breathing up. But the disease has other plans. But you inspire me. I sit here with my 5 lb weights and try to do squats and deep breathing. You and your hubby are amazing.I would want to be you in my next life,
