Just checked on the AK knives website and the price for an AK 6.5 in CPM-3V sheath included is $273.57. That's almost twice the price for an ESSE 6.

Twice the price of an ESEE? Not true, but it is 29.6 Billion times better than an ESEE. Good LUCK with your blades!

The ESEE 6HM is only $128 on Amazon in my opinion it's the best model of the ESEE 6 line, I don't have one but if I could it would be the 6HM. On Amazon the ESEE 6 is going around $140.

You can buy the ESEE 6 with scuplted micarta handles for $130 at Chicago Knife Works, but the AK 6.5 in 3V with similar accessories (micarta handles, sheath, clip) is $270. So I don't think they're really comparable budget-wise.

Esee 6 is made in 1095 or s35vn which are much easier to work with steels. Cpm 3v is a high speed tool steel it's designed to machine steels like 1095 and s35vn. That's why there's such a price gap. Also how the steel is heat treated

@@billvan5219 I'm not a moron, I have the appropriate gear with me all the time. Why would you not go into a heavy knife use situation without a field worksharp with you? I've also used my leather belt to hone it, which is more than sufficient 99% of the time. There are dozens of pocket/necklace carry stones that work. This isn't the 19th century, there's no excuse for not being prepared. Hop off that short bus and try some common sense and critical thinking skills.

Looking at the Architect 5.5 in Magnacut, but as I understand it's not great at making sparks on a ferro rod, given it's rounder spine edges. Question, do you think you could make those edges sharper with a little grinding are would you just be ruining the knife? I've also heard that jimping on the top is pretty aggressive and not the most comfortable if your choking down on the knife? Thoughts?

Lower price get the verusteleka Terava Jakarri puukko. Higher end but not a bank acct breaker get the Cold Steel Republic. They are versatile, comfortable and rugged like a fixed blade survival knife should be.

For the Cold Steel SRK, I don't know if it's overpriced in Europe or what? But in the Knives and Tools shop, the CPM 3V is at 292€, and the SK5 at 60€. It's either much more expensive or less expensive than the $80/100 price range???

I know Moras have a cult like following but run of the mill Moras aren't full tang so can't really be considered a survival knife IMO. I have $20 Rough Ryder fixed blades that are full tang and superior to basic Moral in everything (that matters in a survival situation) except feather sticking.

Sure looks like your giving reviews on knives you've never used. I might value a opinion if you actually used one of these knives. Stainless is not superior. Less toughness hard to sharpen is a big deal in the woods. I personally believe you just parrot nonsense from youtube without showing a reason
