In episode 7 he admits that he does like the hotel staff and residents and is enjoying himself before he goes to meet Charlie. In episode 8, he sings that he almost died for his friends. You bringing up the possibility that Lilith contacted him to sabotage the hotel is very interesting and i think it could line up. Early on(pilot to mid season 1), he's just constantly mocking Charlie as if he's trying to discourage her. His ad for the hotel basically boils down to "this place sucks and has no possibility of success." When Charlie calls Lucifer to help, he becomes antagonistic to Lucifer. Al has been constantly sabotaging the hotel, until the latter half of the season. From the end of episode 5 onward, Alastor is even going out of his way to help her and prop her up. Telling Mimzy, his friend, that they're still cool but she isn't allowed to bring trouble to this hotel, specifically. He tells Charlie how to defeat the angels, he helps her organize an army by encouraging her to use her own persuasive ability, and he fights to near death to defend the hotel. Upon reaching his radio tower he _does_ seem surprised and amazed that he almost died *"for his friends"* and then immediately switches to trying to think of a way out of his deal. This makes it seem like he was contracted to destroy the redemption project without killing Charlie, which is something he would have delighted in doing, until he stayed there for a few months and had a change of heart.

His new boss says they are leaving town. Vox sees him on the street and asks him to join only to say no because of his deal. Thinks about WHY Vox would want Alastors even knowing his dislike for video cameras unless his extreme hatred towards it was new; he disliked it but to that degree was new. The trouble with being power behind the throne is what Jafar discovered in Aladdin - the advisor is always pushed aside for a prince. Therefore, Jafar Plan B was to BECOME the prince. If Alastor ingratiates himself sufficiently, he can use the favor from Charlie to ask for a marriage of convenience. Purely political. Her loving relationship with Vaggie stays intact, and Alastor becomes the Prince of Hell - with all the attendant power. He can sweeten the idea by convincing Charlie that as an insider, he's the one who can get his hands dirty preventing the Vs from overturning the established order of the overlords - avoiding a ring-wide turf war and the ensuing chaos which would threaten the hotel. He'll have to both ask her to intervene when Lucifer understandably goes ballistic, and eventually persuade her that the Prince of Hell shouldn't be on anyone's leash - something Lucifer could (reluctantly) rectify. And a precedence for a mortal sinner attaining high position in Hell's hierarchy exists - Lilith. As Prince of Hell, Alastor would undoubtedly take a more active role outside the hotel - perhaps even as a counter to Charlie's efforts. If he continued to increase power by obtaining souls, then fewer sinners would have their souls available for redemption.

I feel like this part of the song has a different meaning. He said that he almost died because he was defending his "friends" and that he might've started getting attached to them and forgot that his main goal was to cut the deal he made. He also didn't seem hostile as he seemed actually happy (or at least satisfied) in the cannibal colony where everyone around understood and liked him. It also showed that maybe Al didn't really hate Lucifer but maybe just tried to get on his nerves after what Lucifer did to him (disrespect and just bad taste towards Alastor). So in a nutshell: Alastor doesn't want to betray Charlie as she's needed for him to cut the deal. He might slowly start seeing the pros of Charlie's character and become a good person at the end of the series. Yes, he was a bad person but his attachment started getting stronger and stronger so he won't just betray them (+ he sees potential everywhere). In the pilot he was probably lying about him joining the hotel for entertainment (and maybe not) as he's kind of a "punisher" person who is fair towards everyone unless they show him that they deserve a punishment (such as the butcher in alastor's comic)
@hi_why_are_you_reading_this11 ай бұрын
If Alastor wants to be the ruler of hell, the shortest path to it would be a marriage of convenience with Charlie. It would immediately raise his status from an overlord to a prince. And Charlie wouldn't hurt anyone, provided that emotional damage does not count. Thus, Vox tastes ultimate defeat, Lucifer and Lilith are flabbergasted, but the Hotel and, probably, the rest of hell are ok. And of course, Vaggie won't be able to become Charlie's spouse, but it does not mean that they will have to end their relationship. Heck, they don't even need to hide their love, because it's hell and nobody cares. It is not the best of all possible outcomes for the crew, but it is not the worst either. Although, I am pretty sure that it won't happen, as it lacks drama, pain, betrayal and other things we are so hyped up about.
@strawberryhellcat473811 ай бұрын
Oh, it doesn't lack drama. Alastor as Prince of Hell would still be a power hungry sociopathic narcissist. He would definitely seek to control all the overlords, but more importantly, would try to increase his power by obtaining more souls - placing him in direct conflict with Charlie. Sinners who surrender their souls to Alastor wouldn't have them available for redemption. Most extreme betrayal scenario, he'd overreach by deciding one ring of Hell was not enough and attempt to become King of Hell by usurping Lucifer.

We've been considering that Alastor made a deal with Lilith seven years ago. What if his craving for power caused him to take a run at her instead? She walked out on Lucifer, and isn't a Hellborn, but a mortal sinner like Alastor. The end result of the conflict could have been the pair running to separate entities to recover. Lilith seeking out Adam for protection in Heaven, and Alastor turning to Roo. It's also apparent that Lucifer really doesn't like Alastor by the fact that the newly built hotel has one window completely destroyed - the window closest to Alastor's radio studio.

@strawberryhellcat473811 ай бұрын
@@karmagaming2098 True, Lilith is the first sinner, but it doesn't appear the majority of sinners actually have powers - only those who have discovered their niche either by obtaining souls and/or offering something the general populace wants. Alastor is a narcissist, and his ego outweighs his power (he could have fought Adam with angelic blades wielded by his tentacles, but didn't). With Lilith outside of Lucifer's sphere, he may have foolishly believed she had less power. Of course, this could also be "Deathnote" levels of overthinking the plot.

Alastor is shown to be loyal to his comrades: Rosie says "Alastor has never done me wrong" and Mitzy clearly relies on him to get her out of trouble on a regular basis. Alastor has friends, he enjoys their company and tries to keep them safe. I think he'd consider it a weakness to turn on someone who he'd encouraged to trust him. Alastor is often seen as chaotic evil, but he's far more lawful: he's a dealmaker, people who enter into deals with him do so knowingly and of their own free will, whether or not they regret the deal later. The overlords of Hell, while enormously feared, do have relatively normal relationships with others: Carmina is clearly devoted to her children and no one would (dare) think any the less of her for that. However, reputation is clearly enormously important for overlords, of course, and Alastor has put a lot of work into his Radio Demon persona. He's not troubled so much by finding himself attached to Charlie and the gang, it happens, he's been here before, but the double-blow to his hard-earned reputation of a) being defeated in combat, b) while trying to defend this widely-ridiculed idea of a redemption hotel, because of c) some as-yet-unexplained constraints humiliatingly forced on him, _this_ is what's ripping shreds off his sanity.

Alastor became more mysterious with every clue. The connection between him and Roo is closer than we may thought. If Vivzies twits (or x's) are still cannon, maybe Alastor is more related to Roo, like his child or avatar, that was created on Earth (like in "The Horror of Dunwich" of Lovecraft). He pretend to be a normal human, but got more occult power through his "cosmic, eldritch father", and thanks to that he could infiltrate Hell as a sinner. Hell was the goal, because it's easier to get into it, than to Heaven. He started his rampage, but because he was in Hell, his power wasn't that omnipotence- his father was in other Realm, that's why he use his staff with "father's eye" as an anchor. Seven years before Hazbin Hotel first episode- he fought Vox, because his ambition was in the way of Alastor. Then suddenly he was summoned by Lilith, who also had a deal with Roo. Alastor not only was weakened by fight, but also maybe daddy shut off his power, to give him to the Lilith on the leash. After that he regain power, but deal was sealed, and he was on the Lilith order. Now, limited by the humiliating deal, and betrayed by Roo- he seeks way to escape from the deal, and take Hell as a his own kingdom. Proofs:..all this green energy with foreign symbols, sudden rise to power as a Overlord. The eye in his microphone, and sudden weaken state after the staff was broken. Tentacles of his more demonic form (BTW. is it not strange, that he only transform- only angels, and angel0related were capable to do that. Other sinner, like Vox, Valentino, Angel Dust, etc. they do not transform).

In the cannibal town ready-for-it song there is a short interlude between Rosie and Alastor. Al: "She's filled with potential that I could guide..." [+ the scheming eyes] Rosie: "I concur. Stick with her. You'll be on the winning side." I wager Alastor wants Charlie to topple her dad and be a proper Queen of Hell who's invested, not the depressed care-for-nothing that Lucifer is. And that's why Alastor is calling in all his favors for Charlie. He thinks she is naive, easily manipulated and can rule hell under his wings (after he figures out how Charlie can "unclip" them when calling in his one favor with her). I mean that's feudal intrigue 101 :D You can't just lay a claim on a kingdom. But you can make the heir that has a proper claim into your puppet and rule from the shadows.

This would also end up as a secondary tragedy (and learning opportunity) to Charlie as RadioDemon finds the way to redemption but cannot be saved because of his own choices.

@lisatheboywonder674411 ай бұрын
I think he didn't make a deal with Lilith or anyone what people don't understand is that Alastor is VERY transparent with everything he says his smile is the thing that keeps them guessing. When he says stuff in terms of his intentions and where's he's been he answers honestly but his smile makes you guess. I think the 'deal' he's referring to is the one he made with Charlie in the pilot where she 'orders' him to help her run the place but on her terms as long as he feels like it. While it may not be something to pay attention to in the pilot you have to realize she is the heir to hell and if she orders you to do something you have to do it which Charlie or us don't realize because Charlie never flexs her power. Alastor wants to use Charlie cause he knows her potential and that she is as powerful as Lucifer as he wants to mold her to end up pulling the strings because he knows having her is a useful tool to him so he won't get out of the deal he made with her in the pilot for that reason, but its driving him crazy cause he knows he can technically get out of the deal because Charlie said until he feels like it, but doesn't want to because of how useful she can be to him but it's driving him insane that it has to be under her terms. So he got himself into a open ended deal that he can yet can't get out of. And Husks comment about him being on a leash is probably him being ' whipped' by Charlie cause why would Alastor let ANY one know he sold his soul much less to someone like Husk who Alastor owns his soul? That would be perceived as weak that if anyone would find out and he would make sure no one found out. Also Alastor isn't dumb enough to sell his soul he is all about control and knows selling a soul is a act of desperation and losing control and Alastor isn't about that. And when he is asked by Zelestial where he was he says ' just took a break nothing more but keep guessing I love to hear the theories' is Vizzie breaking the fourth wall because she does interact with her fans and will know there will be a million fan theory videos guessing so Alastors comment is a head nod to all the fan theory videos she knows are out there. Just a theory tho

While that is an interesting theory, Charlie's actual deal was, "I'm taking your offer to help on the condition that there be no tricks or voodoo strings attached." Then he offered an official deal, which she promptly rejected. Then she says, "As princess of hell and heir to the throne, I hereby order that you help with this hotel for as long as you desire." And that was it. Nothing was said about restricting his powers. It was just he couldn't force her to make a deal or trick her in some way to get him to help. The only condition was he choose to help and he could simply leave whenever he felt like it.

@CartoonUniverse I noticed something in Alastor's song in the final episode of Hazbin Hotel Season 1...Alastor mentions that once he finds out how to cut his wings, he'll be pulling all the strings...Deep diving into the backstory of Alastor, he was a human living on earth...however, given how much power he possess in hell it has been theorized that either he was a son born into a family cult where rituals gave him his power or that he is in fact God. While there are reasons to say why this may be true or false, this particular phrase caught my attention. We know Alastor made a deal with Lilith, which seems of great significance to this phrase. What does Alastor mean by cutting his wings? It would seem more appropriate for him to say for him to cut his chains of his deal. Typically only angels from heaven posses wings. It seems odd as often wings are described in this context as ones ability to obtain success or freedom. Cutting his wings would mean losing his success or freedom. It doesn't quite fit here. In fact, Alastor knew that Vaggie as originally an exorcist who had been cast to hell for sparing a demon child. Could Alastor have been and angel or an exorcist? It seems unlikely, but It seems to make sense when you look at these two events. Other than maybe using his demonic power to identify the truth, how could Alastor have known? Maybe he saw Vaggie once during the yearly extermination or somehow found out with his deal with Lilith. There's no one way definitively answer that question. The only way I see it is that he means to cut his wings to sever his tie with Earth, Heaven, and Lilith herself who is in Heaven. Maybe he meant a reference to Lilith who is in heaven by saying cutting his wings, a direct reference to angels of Heaven. Maybe he means that once he gets out of his deal with Lilith that he will finally be able to taker over hell with whatever means he decides. Having Lilith out of the picture may cause Lucifer to give up the thrown, making the way for Alastor. Lemme know your thoughts!

I believe Rosie to be a fallen angel (It's said she isn't a Sinner.) she shares a lot of the design qualities, like skin/hair color, head shape, and general maturity that those native to Hell don't typically have. also the plumage on her neck is the same as the executioner outfit plumage but red.I think Alastor has a majority of Rosie's power, taking that instead of her life when he was overthrowing the Overlords. That or idk lmao maybe Rosie is just a Cannibal Colony Hellborn like your said and perhaps Alastor made a deal with Rosie to give her the means to form Cannibal Colony and be their unquestioned leader. She did seem to spot deals for him, so I think it's something like the Vs but a lot more one-sided. BUT in the finale, he’s basically saying he shouldn’t let these feelings overtake him and his real reason for even being here. This is evident in ‘great Alastor altruist died for his friends’, he’s basically quoting what they might say if he continued to let his feelings for the ppl of the hotel (friendship, basically) take over him and make him weaker and forget his reason of being here. In the finale when he says ‘these constrains should have a back door’ (along those lines), he’s saying that this deal that he’s under, this leash he is on must have a way out. He wants to be in control, not the one on a leash. He wants power. HE’LL be the one pulling all the strings.

Everyone is stuck on the thought that Alastors deal had to be one where he gained power, no one seems to stop and consider his words "Once my wings are unclipped." this implies that his contract isn't one where he gets power. It's a contract that actually LIMITS his power, he states if it weren't for his deal he wouldn't have almost died which implies he'd be strong enough to kill adam or at the least be impervious in some way to him. Alastor is a deal maker and most notably uses voodoo black magic to make eldritch deals with people, he summons loa's (His "Boys", the little black guys that attack adam) and when he got to hell was already an unstoppable force that just rip tore through the pride ring then just disappeared? What if the reason he was so powerful when he got to hell is because he already had a deal with a powerful voodoo loa? Like say a figure such as Baron Samedi?(Death Loa, Basically the god of the dead and resurrection) or some sort of Eldritch entity? (Leviathan/Satan?) and when he lost to the V'z he was on the verge of death so he had to make a deal that placed a limit on his power but allowed him to survive (Most likely with lillith, hence why they've been gone for the same time frame.) and that's why almost losing his life to Adam or as he says "Alastor Altruist dies for his friends" then freaks out. We learn after that Pentious doing this gets him an instant ticket to heaven, if alastor knew this in some way and knew that it could potentially wreck all the deals he's made in hell it would definitely explain why he freaked out so much about it all, because that might literally be a potential death sentence for him in multiple ways. Also this would explain his messed up stitch face quite well. He's being restrained from smiling in his full capacity, because his power is bound, preventing him from wreaking the havoc that he was capable of when he was broadcasting screams on the broadcast.

I would like to change this a bit btw, rather than editing it I'm just going to do a separate aside as a thought for everyone. It is entirely possible that Alastors deal is with Lillith given the time relations (7 Years etc). But I noticed something while watching this scene over again. I think that Alastors deal is with Satan. We know that satan is likewise a powerful deal maker demon as well, and for those who want to ask yes Satan in HH is separate from Lucifer, Satan is an Imp Demon who rules the Wrath Ring now but once united hell. Anyway, in the scene where he has stitch face and is making the deal. Just to his side you see a GIGANTIC set of Arrows with a circle that all converge in the center. It looks like the sigil for "Wrath" which would be satans gig and seems a bit to obvious to just let go. And considering Alastors color schemes are constantly shown as being Red/Crimson and Black/Green which are both color schemes attributed to Satan and Eldritch entities in the series it ligns up pretty good.

Tinfoil hat theory: jumping from what the video said, Al’s deal is actually not with Lilith, but rather with Root; the wording being something on the lines of infecting heaven with the ‘root of all evil' by any means necessary. Al's only helping Charlie b/c while he himself doesn't think they'll succeed, the redemption being pursued by Charlie and the denizens of the hotel is the best chance for Root to invade heaven; thus Al is obligated to assist in Charlie's endeavor.

Why every solo Alastor ending of song sound so great? Stayed gone, and now this. I also feel sad, that we didnt seen Alastor full demonic form in fight with Adam. 6:11 simple, "made ... give up deal that we made at all cost" and Charlie would need to do it. 6:18 realy? I just sayed that xD

See with Alistair they took the yokozuna route showing everybody that he's this monster this great evil power and that's a big deal whenever he gets knocked off his feet which means it's an even bigger deal when he finally gets beat by Adam

Betray Charlie? No. Manipulate and take advantage of Charlie, her sweet nature and their deal? Absolutely

I feel like Alastor actually likes the hazbin gang but I think he’d rather do something to the other overlords maybe

i hope we get a backstory of alastor and vox's relationship as in the finale where vox and val sing, there is a picture of alastor and vox is on it as well but he is halfway ripped off, hinting at a deeper relationship between the two, this might also lead up to their fight and how alastor came to do the deal

I bet alastor's deal with lillith is he can return to hell only if he will risk his own life to save Charlie. Since he disappeared once he was almost dead he had infact fulfilled the contract by risking his life

there is likely more to it but I think that is part of it

I think Eve could be another possibility that wasn't mentioned like we barely know anything about her but she's be alluded to twice now, once in intro and now Lucifer possibly hooking up with her.
