For all who say Alladudin khilji saved India from Mongols should read history properly The "Battle of Killi" Zafar kha the commander of 3rd flank of Khilj's army was the one who single handedly Defeated the mongols and injured mongol commander Allauddin was just sitting and watching and didn't help his own army and hence Zafar kha sacrificed himself ( story was Mongol commader asked zafar kha to join his side as Allauddin had betrayed him) but Zafar was real brave warrior and he fought till his death Hence Mongol backed away becoz the weather of Indian subcontinent didn't allow them to battle more.

Then add to this that the whole "war for Padmini" thing is also myth which doesn't hold any credibility as there is no mention of Padmini by Amir Khusru who accompanied Alauddin Khilji in his campaign against Chittor. Jayasi composed "Padmawat" in 1536 which sounds like a fantasy tale(a talking parrot who firstly instigates Ratansen to go for a quest for Padmini and afterwards instigates Khilji to go for Padmini) A believable version could be that Khilji demanded surrender by Rani Padmini as her husband had been defeated but instead she immolated herself.
