Started 4 days ago. Yesterday I've just been doing the obvious, questing in Redridge. After some time a player who has been following whispered me saying: "Are you new?". "Yes" I said. "Let me help you" he said. He proceeded to give me 2000 gold and took me to Ironforge with a train where he told me what do buy. I bought some armor which is called "looms" Now I level 20% faster. I know not all people are that nice, but I'm really happy a player like that helped me.

Couldn't agree more with having a lot of fond memories of the game and trying to recapture them by coming back. I don't hate WoW by any means, but it is a disappointing to watch Blizzard just keep changing the game so much. It baffles me why they would keep downgrading the social aspect of an MMO. Even if that's true, the game itself would suffer. That fee ensures that we get constant support. MMOs don't thrive from in-game cash shops and one time fees. *Looks at BDO*
@mikeuh8 жыл бұрын
V3racious I'm pretty sure if they have enough money to create a movie, an xpac every year, and those badass cinematics, they can thrive off of xpac payments and cash shops. Do you know how many people actually buy off the cash shop? If there wasnt a sub fee, there would be even more money spent on the cash shop.
@V3racious8 жыл бұрын
Micah Lyles You need a lesson in economics. They have that money based on the existing model. When they have to rely more on putting content into the cash shop rather than in the game, they are devaluing actually playing the game. If they don't put the coolest stuff in the cash shop, they don't make enough money. When WoW moves away from a subscription, the game will die. Hence why they haven't over the last 10 years. $15/month is nothing. Get a job. Quit crying.

I'm gonna be honest here, I really want to start playing WOW, but I know I never will. I've heard too many people say bad stuff of WOW. Like you said in the video, it's not a bad game, they just hate what it has become. That's how people are, we don't like change. And indeed, the cost is the number one reason for me. I don't like playing a game for which I need to pay monthly. I'm more the kind of guy who wants to buy a game, and play whenever I have time to play it. I have a busy schedule and I know I wouldn't be able to play a lot. I would consider playing it if they did something like Elder Scrolls Online. It used to be a monthly subscription, but you Bethesda changed it to just one purchase. That's waaaay better than a monthly fee. Or look at Runescape. A free to play area, and a member's area. Gives you the chance to see if a game is good, before subscribing to it.

The reason why i hate WoW now is because its not based on fun. All the attention goes to raiding, or just making your character stronger in general. The gameplay is not fun, its not challenging, its just pure numbers. Why do you raid? To get better gear. What do you do use that better gear for? To raid! Endless cycle, Id much rather just meet up online with friends and cause some havoc together in GTA Online or beat some challenging areas/bosses together on Dark Souls or Bloodborne. Mmo's are dying anyway. Action oriented open-world games is the future.

I played wow from the last few weeks of vanilla until the end of WotLK. I returned to the game last year and boy have I had fun. I was always more of a casual player and never really liked raids because I always felt I would screw up everything if I tried them. Thankfully cataclysm updated the vanilla leveling zones and made the quests a lot more interesting, so there is more to do in the game. Leveling is also faster so you don't have to stick around one zone and kill the same enemies for hours straight to gain a level! Doing legacy raids, either solo or with a friend, is fun. You can also earn achievements and collect mounts, pets and toys while doing them. I also like garrisons, but understand why so many hate them. Single player content isn't for everyone. All in all, wow has become more casual (raiding excluded, mostly :P). Some like it, some don't.

***** It still wasn't hard in fact Wotlk catered to casuals even,try out vanilla leveling and tell me if you'll ever get the chance to try out all of the race or classes,the way leveling was in vanilla meant to be grindy which ended up in new players being exhausted half way through level 20-30,only a few could spend enough time to be able to hit 60 and try out the endgame
It's simple then... We kill the old engine, and get a new one. ... I get a feeling it's easier said than done.
@Diavolo2229 жыл бұрын
***** Using a new engine doesnt necessarily mean that people wont be able to play it if they do so on potatoes. Also, cmon even if you are playing on a dual core piece of shit with integrated graphics card, is it that hard to invest in something like a GTX 750ti which you can run only from the PCIE slot and turn any potato into a decent gaming rig. Also, it is fucking 2015 and it would be later than that when they decide to update to a new engine. The game not only demands a lot of money, but also a lot of time invested into it, modern games tend to do the opposite (Even Blizzards own games, such as HotS, you can pay OR grind, but not both). Everything in it is drawn out and stretched thin in order to ensure that the player has to spend months getting to the top and continue paying subscription money. As a result: -Content gets repetitive very quickly. Grinding in a game with hotkey based combat is not very appealing. You can't even commit to bursting through the game, since a lot of quests that yield necessary resources are one a day/week long cool down. You have to log in regularly, only to do the same thing over and over again... -Since spending more time means paying more money, naturally everyone tries to rush through as fast as they can. Which means If you lag behind, you will be left behind. Now my experience with the community has been generally positive, but there is no sense in having any lore If I have to skip everything just to keep up with my dungeon group. I love things like seeing my character in a cinematic, like the one where we blow up the train in WoD, but If I don't skip it then the party will get mad. -Those playing for the lore are severely punished. As mentioned earlier, time means money, so you have no time to stop and read the quest dialogues or take in the beautiful atmospheres the art team creates. In a rush to catch up with my high level friends, I rushed to lvl 90 (the cap at the time), and the experience felt so underwhelming (took me months to do BTW, I have no idea how anyone who has an average daily schedule can do it in a week, unless heirlooms really grant THAT much bonus xp). It was only after I found out channels like Dorons or Nobbel before I realized that there were many interesting stories to be immersed in. Now I know WoW requires the money it gets to keep this massive game running, but It could at least be a bit more flexible. I mean think about it: If you pay absolutely nothing, you can play from lvl 1 to 20 (and tax the servers anyway). If you buy the game, the latest expansion AND pay subscription money, you get the full experience. If you buy the game, the expansion but don't pay the subscription; you can only play to lvl 20 again. There is no in-between. Why is a f2p having the same treatment as someone who has bought the game but simply isn't paying the subscription? At least let us play subscription free in the old expansion zones and maybe include a week/month long free time to play in the new expansion If we have bought it? The whole subscription aspect is really off-putting, especially to those of us living in a third world country, and essentially having to pay thrice the money. The ONLY appealing part of WoW, is that It is WoW. The hardcore fans of it, it's popularity and it's reputation. There is really nothing in it that is worth investing that much time and money into, save from the social aspect. I feel like there used to be a time where a new player could start playing the game, meet new people, quest and raid together and have a blast, but I as a new player have missed that ride a long time ago (I started in MoP)... The game world feels barren, and to mingle with the community I am required to search for them outside of the game, which speaks volumes of WoW's failure to be a social game by itself in it's current state...

Everyone has fond memories of playing it for the first time, huh? Then please enlighten me as to why that doesn't hold true for me. I started playing with my brother around vanilla and then tried again during Wrath. And both times, I could not get out of the starting zone as it was far too boring, it was a constant stream of 'kill this thing here a certain amount of times' or 'collect this much of a certain item that may or may not drop quickly'. The classes are not done intuitively, nor is there a quick move option to go to an NPC to sell items. Instead your greeted with 'target is too far away'. Same holds true for the combat; if you are stuck facing the wrong way when an enemy aggro's onto you, then you have to waste time turning to face it instead of the automatic correction. This was only a few things that I absolutely despised about the game, and this is being said from someone who only played Guild Wars 1 AFTER he attempted vanilla WoW and found it much more fun to play, especially when there was a neat little function that put you into a different instance when you went out into the world.. So no, not everyone has fond memories of playing it the first time, or at all.

I didn't know there were pve servers when I started playing I got constantly trolled but eventually grew to enjoy the possibility of pvp at any time. What made me hate the game at times was being excluded from raiding because I wore full conquest instead of pve gear. This was BS to me because to get the better pve gear Raiding was the only way to do it and even if I played well during a raid the moment I was noticed wearing pvp especially with a raid groups that kept wiping I was often kicked. Even if I was high on the dps list. This made raiding a contradiction and is one of the reasons I dropped the game.

ManzarsGaming It´s actually common thing on every internetplatform, like youtube reddit and forums etc, if you disclaim in your post/video "this will propably get a lot of hat/downvotes etc" most people who would initially dislike it, reconsider and think the poster must have been actually aware of the possible negative feedback, and would still go on post it cause of him believing it is right/relevant, and thus they actually follow his opinon. I don´t mean that this video is "bad", i highly agree with majority things said in this video, though I also think the whole aspect is a complex psycholigcal thing, but i just notice this over and over. Don't have to worry about paying a WoW sub for a long time, thanks to WoW tokens. So far, have a years worth of WoW time by paying with gold. The vanilla wow questing and how difficult it was, the social aspect, the "feeling" you had fighting mobs, having to think about how many you pull and deal with them, and your class itself was so much more satisfying. I was seriously satisfied handing in the "Stolen Silver" quest from the raptors in Crossroads - and that was a simple quest.

Heirlooms. The only thing I like about them is that I'm able to get weapons easier. The first time I leveled in WoW, I was a paladin in wrath, and I could NOT get any weapons unless I finished quests, and rarely in dungeons because someone would usually ninja the better weapon, I must say though I don't like how the rest of the BoA gear increases xp gained. I'd like it if they implemented a way to shut off the extra xp and just get regular xp.

For me the main reason why I lost the love for WoW happened in WoTLK. As a TBC player, I believed in the system of, get t4, do t5 raid, get t5, do t6 raid and etc, a linear progression. So before WoTLK came out, I dedicated A LOT of time in putting a solid 25 men raiding team, we did Naxx and EoE and I was online for +15hrs per day. Only to find out that, that when Ulduar came out, ALL the new players could get the SAME loot and tiers that I had spent days of hard work trying to collect, in a couple of hrc runs. Made it seem like all my hard work just went down the drain. What was the point in spending hours in front of the PC, getting frustrated with wipes, trying to organize raids, missing real life events and etc, when I could just get the same loot a few months later in a day. That's where I lost my love. Anyways, that's just my opinion.

I tried it out during TBC. Obviously it is one of the most impressive MMOs of all time, but why I don't really like the game: - Too time consuming, yet when the new expansion comes, boom - everything is outdated - Addiction among the players is far too common - For me, it's destroyed what WC was all about pre WoW and it just does not do it for me lore wise - People being toxic when it comes to even entry level raids if you should make a mistake, or if you are slightly under geared - Too much reliance on gear and waiting forever to get something good for your class/spec when raiding or PvPing

I actually do enjoy the multitude of difficulties and even when I clear it on LFR, normal, or even heroic, I strive to go back, personally and complete it on the highest difficulty (Mythic now, but Heroic back in the day) Its more or less to me, a personal challenge and a great reward when you can claim you beat a raid's hardest difficulty. Hell, just last night I managed a mythic SoO, which was a blast and while the group itself was well above level requirement, it was still neat to see the difference. LFR is nothing like the Mythic level difficulty and it actually feels different than just facerolling through a raid. You appreciate the work and the defeat of a boss is a reward in itself.

I understand one of your comments very well. Certain people will only play WoW because it's popular. I remember when I was trying to fit in with other kids, so I can have more friends, and I got rejected constantly. I then started hanging out with others who had long hair because they were very friendly to me. This is back during the early 1980s, to help this make sense. I was listening to heavy metal before it became cool, and that really pissed me off. I kept telling those popular freaks to go back to their music, which was the hip hop music. Those popular freaks kept telling me that I was still a dork, I had no intention of wanting to be popular. Popular freaks are very cruel people and they love to look down on people. I understand that the original WoW players were playing the game before it ever became popular, I feel ya. I was introduced to the game from a good friend of mine. He knew that I kept getting into trouble with the law and needed something to do. Been playing since Wrath and had no intentions of wanting to downgrade the game. The difficulty kept me busy and occupied until I found a way to conquer it. I will keep playing WoW until it ends, no matter if it becomes dead meat.
@Yuilen9 жыл бұрын
You forgot to mention the other reason why so many people hate WoW: because the game sucks and looks like shit. Also with Blizzard having a legendary reputation for terrible customer service and completely brain-dead development teams who ignore players' requests and suggestions/feedback, choosing to follow their own delusional ideas of what would make the game better, instead making it worse and worse with every expansion. WoW is running on an engine only 2 years older than Warcraft 3. Only 1 year older than Rome Total War. That's utterly ridiculous that cheapo Blizzard wouldn't invent WoW 2.0 with a new engine and much better graphics, but again this is because Blizzard doesn't actually give a shit about better quality, they just want to keep milking the cash cow that is WoW until it has sputtered its last and died. If I could have played a multiplayer version of Skyrim and not that garbage "ESO" which wasn't even made by Bethesda in the first place, then I would be playing that right now.

I agree with the warlock one as i am a warlock main and i have been playing demonology since Cata and even been doing heroic/mythic raiding with said spec since then..... And since they nerfed Destruction in 6.0 and now demo in 6.2 the only viable spec so far is affliction... and lord knows how i fucking hate affliction... it is such a boring spec to play, and it's the only damn spec that does enough damage for me to be viable for my raid team. It's annoying as hell hells.... IF they were to buff demo they should've at least buffed destruction a bit -.- even though destruction is a boring as hell spec as well, it's still much more fun than affliction.
@seralthi41109 жыл бұрын
I don't undestand why blizzards nerfs stuff so much always can't they like watch dps meter while balancing so that there would not be so big differences. It can't be that hard in other mmos for example all classes always have more viable builds than one and few days ago they remade the whole talent system and now pretty much all archetypes of all classes are viable. If other companies can do balancing why can't blizzard.

@randjan85928 жыл бұрын
Well, that's one of the biggest reasons for me, but I have met many many people who don't really care about the lore or don't know anything about it! Some people say they can't take the lore seriously, I don't know do they hate it, or they don't care too much about it, but still acknowledge it. Some people also say "What? Ragnaros? Who is that?". I heard that a few days ago...
@CynicalGamingBlogTerry3098 жыл бұрын
Randjan Of course people don't take the lore seriously... because WOW made the lore a joke. Before that though the lore was pretty good. The books written about pre-wow lore were also pretty good for the most part. The fact that WOW is an MMO doesn't help the lore though, they had to put the night elves into the Alliance and the Forsaken into the Horde even though in the original lore they were independant factions.

As a roleplayer, main reason for me still playing wow is that it got an RP community. Most new games don't, and if there is a roleplaying community one has to share spacce with non-roleplayers, meaning tons of trolling and hateful whispers while the RP goes on (Guild Wars 2 for example). It can also be extremely hard to get into said roleplay communities because they consist of a tightly knit group already that isn't really interested in letting anyone else in.

Very well put together video. I left due to subscription and I was a pvp'r. If you were hardcore about a specific spec and you grinded pvp gear for that spec for months just for it to get nerfed and no one wanted to queue with you because of the nerf it just ruined it. I couldn't get into raiding after Wraith, something about spamming the same few buttons over and over (especially if you were a healer) and then moving every few seconds just for a small chance to maybe get a new piece of gear became extremely mind-numbing. The cost. There is just so many other things I'd rather spend $15/mo on. And as I'm getting older, though I have the time to put into WoW, there's just so many other priorities in life that I doubt I would get my moneys worth it playing time. Finally, it's just gotten boring and old. It's the same 5-6 types of quest chains done over and over again. There's 0 difficulty to leveling. As a pvp'r having essentially the same bg's since Wraith has gotten REALLY old.

I loved WoW, played from late BC to mid-Cataclysm. What I really did not like however is how unforgiving players are when you take a break for a few months: if you aren't there for the few weeks of new heroics and raids to learn them while they are still new for everyone, critics can be ruthless. The most fun I ever had in WoW was when I rushed to level cap in Cataclysm and the LFG queue was full of driven players eager to die learn all the new pulls and bosses. Lots of dying and repair bills but nobody expects an easy run when the expansion has only been out for a week. One of my friends lent me his account so I could level some of his characters through MoP and be ready for Draenor. When I started doing some LFG to get him some half-decent gear, I got a cruel reminder of how much it sucks to be the only one in the group who has no idea of how the dungeon goes and that pretty much killed my interest in going back to WoW unless the monthly fee is either abolished or drastically reduced.

Garrison added a easy ice breaker when talking to players you have never meet. In a garrison you can't have it all and people make group finders just so they can visit other people garrisons. In the past the social interaction was this "whats your DPS/item level?" "over 9000" "inc inv" Now people are actually talking about story line, follower choices, building choices. Raid finder is what saved WoW from going under, at the end of WotLK. In that same time frame there was tons of MMO's hitting the market and all them have gone free to play. WoW made a never bad move by making all raids,10 man 25 man, share locks out drastically reducing the guild size from 100s of players to just a hand full. Leveling is easy in a way to balance the game..... if you feel your class/spec was nerf to the ground level something new and be raiding at the same tier in about a week. As far as "WoW is dead" the fact of the matter is WoW subs have gone down but all subs of all MMO has gone down. In the past WoW had 75% market share of sub based MMO's now WoW has 90%+ market share some game has lost 100% of the player base, WoW has not. To put it simple there used to be 200 people playing MMO, and 150 of them were WoW players, now there is only 100 people playing MMO and 90 of them are playing WoW. Cost is zero, it just takes 30K gold for 30 days of game play. You can make 30K really fast.

Some of the aspects I'd love to have in the game: - leveling should take waaay more time and it should be more beneficial to play in a group The feeling of reaching the max level should be something special and nothing you could do within a day. - the lfr function should be replaced. This would even work in the low-level instances, because there would be more people questing and leveling on that level. - epics should be rare: the value of an epic should be increased. Receiving an epic means nothing nowadays, because you can get one in hc 5man raids, which arent difficult to complete - open pvp - skill points every level: it would go along with the slower leveling. Receiving a skill point every single level-up is just an other bonus and it feels good to "improve" the character

The ONE and ONLY reason I don't play WoW was the subscription based game. I'm too poor for one and also I believe if I spend the money to buy a game I shouldn't need to continue paying them for every month, makes me want to rush as fast as I can to max level to make use of my money. So I play GW2 and love it, its a very casual game with great continuing story and graphics and community. Very cool to go to any of the main cities and start talking about... cats for example... and 10 other people will join in for almost hours because the community is pretty awesome. Also you made a video on GW2 and rage quit'ed the PVE, which you are right it is lacking, but the combat and exploring is amazing in a beautiful world... which everything and anything gives you EXP. BTW as an old player of GW2 I recently got a Ranger from lvl1 to lvl80 (cap) in under 2 weeks :) I've got 6 out of 8 characters to max level

The reason I hate WoW (and all MMORPGs I have ever tried), well you said it in this video. "It's a game that never ends." Having a story, characters, a villain, and a final boss are all extremely important to me in a video game. Without these things, any time I've spent on the game just feels like a huge waste (especially if I have to pay a monthly fee for it).

For me it is the grind. Once you get to max level before you can even THINK about raiding or pvp, you have to gear up the hard way, buy doing faction grinds to get gear. Granted, this for me personally, as back in Burning Crusade. I ended up quitting the game and only playing sporadically during Wrath and Cataclysm. I finally got sucked back into WoW after WoD was released, Decided to give it another try and leveling up was a joke, even without heirlooms I was at level 20 in a day, level 30 a couple days after and the only reason it took me a long time to get to max level was because I am an alt-alholic and can never stay on one character long. On top of this, after letting me fly in literally every other zone once I hit 60 and could get the flying mount , Blizz decided to make everything in the WoD xpac a no fly zone... After receiving a boatload worth of negative feedback on the no flying in WoD, they pretended to relent and came out with their massive achievement thing that required a bunch of other difficult grind based achievements in order to get. The entire idea of that just really killed it for me. If there is anything I cannot stand in a game, it is faction grinding where you have to do the same quests every bloody day to get the item(s) you want / need. It is slightly more acceptable to get a fancy mount, but to get something you should have anyway, like the ability to use your flying mounts, or to obtain the gear you need to continue with the actual content, really pisses me off, and it pretty much destroyed the fun I was having before I hit the WoD content. The thought of having to either spend the necessary hours grinding to get the mega-achievement to fly in WoD or having to stay on ground mounts while taking alts through the content for was a loose loose scenario, and I quit the game, forever. Nothing can suck me back into WoW again, not even the prospect of playing the new Demon Hunter class that will be introduced when Legion is released.

I'd actually would hope for a World of Starcraft rather than a new "WoW 2". Imaginære that, three faction, a space and planet type game like Wildstar, but of cruise more awesome.

I miss the insane arms warrior DPS. I only enjoyed cata because I didn't only have a fun spec, but I murdered recount with the dps. Started playing after a long leave and it didn't take long to go from iffy about the game to raiding and then to grinding heroics. And once I got my hand on the heroic Garth...PVP wasn't anything either. Until I dueled a ret pally with the same weapon that is

I've given FF14 a try since I got it at Gamestop for $5 cause you know, points and all, so 30 free days to try it out, gave WoW a break during the time. I'm now loving FF14 for a number of reasons, two reasons being A) FF introduced me to RPGs and B) Nostalgia classes. The game also seems to have a more in depth combat system too, just my opinion. I still love WoW but after playing it since Vanilla, I think I am done with it, but I do want to keep up with lore either way.

I think another attribute that can be contributed is most people choose their specs/talents based on what the internet says is best and don't experiment on their own and play what they like best. This leads to less variety when pugging because everyone of a certain class is going to be the same spec/talents, just different gear level and personality.

I have been playing wow on and off from beta, the main reason I left the first time was the expansion cataclysm, the group finder, and most of the friends I played with left for other game. I hated group finder because I feel it took away from guilds, and reasons for people are in guilds. I came back for panda and leveled my monk to max level in 4 days, my first character took me 6months. It really made me sick. I will keep coming back for each expansion, now I have found it hard to come back, guilds that survived the group finder raid only with each other, because they know each other, and have been playing with one another for years. I started playing again after a 3 year break, in the week I have come back I have been in 5 guild, 4 were created and vanished after a few days, the only one to have survived is an older guild, but now only has 5 active people out of 800 on the roster. I am thinking about just rerolling on another server, because I can't afford the 30$ per character.

As far as it being easy to level, I can understand why Blizzard would make it easier for two reasons. 1. It takes a long time to level all the way from level 1 to 100 without the heirloom gear and other perks and I feel that one main reason why leveling becomes so easy because you all too often out level the content. A quick fix to this would be to get rid of the extra 40 levels and reduce the levels back to 60 and reduce the amount of quests within a quest hub and boost the amount of experience for the quests to the point where you have to complete almost all of the quests in a given zone before moving on to the next. 2. Most players want to hurry and get to the end content and loot because that's where the meat of the lore and gear is. Quick fix, make leveling story and gear matter. Make a great story out of leveling quests and when a player completes the quests in a given area, let there be some real visible changes. I don't mean just phasing the zone to appear different, I mean something more aesthetic like having city guards proclaim you as a "savior" or be recognized by the citizens as a hero. And let the gear matter, be more useful, and visibly appealing (in case players want to keep it for Transmog), while leveling back in TBC (the exception would be certain vanilla pieces) I felt like my gear was pretty much useless and it wasn't particularly spectacular looking. Many want to feel like a hero and be able to look like one too and the only time one begins to feel like that is after they reach max level. As far as Group questing is concerned, Blizzard got rid of it because of phasing; but lets face it... It really wasn't all that good anyways. When I was leveling, it was a big pain in the backside to get a group together to do group quests. Spamming general chat in the area or trade in the cities was almost as bad as spamming for heroics in chat. I don't agree with bringing them back and am glad that they are gone. Instead what Blizz could do is add some kind of incentive to group up and/or run dungeons. Something that isn't forced but something that would get players to want to group up and socialize. I think that if Blizz would make these changes, it would help out a lot.

I like LFR because it builds my courage to want to do normal raids. I've actually tanked a guild raid once because I watched my dad do it and wanted to try it too. I'm healing in LFR and plan on healing in normal raids within the next few weeks

I had a similar experience growing up. My parents were okay with me playing games, even WoW, as long as it was no more than an hour a week. The main reason for this was that the two of my friends who I played with and who'd introduced me to WoW weren't very successful in school (at least according to their insane standards). To give you an idea, at the dawn of facebook, my friend created a "Save MisterVicePresident from his parents!" facebook page which got over 100 likes in the first day. At one point they made me quit because they couldn't tell whether or not I was playing the game whenever I was on my computer (alt-tab pro), and they managed to lock my account. I eventually found their password (okay, maybe I was a little addicted but, an hour a week, seriously?) and was able to get my character up to 70. In the middle of my first and only Karazhan raid, my mom walked in, freaked out, and took my computer away. Sad day. It was only in college that I was able to start playing again.

I enjoyed the video thank you, been playing WoW since 07, I take breaks but always come back. I don't hate it, I do think it's getting a bit rough around the edges. Looking forward to Legion tho.
