you don't need to do like in the video, the rest system works for every daily stuff, you can do chaos dungeon and guardians after 2 days of accumulating rest (una's task also have rest bonus), you'll lose 33% of resources but playing way less, basically you're gain more per time invested, the game encourages players to not overplay but to play daily for few hours like 2h a day, unfortunately people are too anxious and can't play without min max every thing nowdays, you can read the comments and will see a lot o people experiencing the exactly of what I said

Well, you get so much free honing stuff on your main that you don't get on your alts that it makes it seem as though you are only supposed to have a main character and then alts are only there to do side stuff perhaps or feed the main character with stuff. Doesn't really bother me, I only have 1 alt. I'm more of a one character kind of person... but I did want to try out Sorceress. Oh well, hopefully they make materials even easier to come by and gain regardless of the character you are on.

One problem with this game is that some people see more content as more chores, while others see more content as more choice. You don't need 5 alts, you don't have to slog it out. I have one T3, one T2, and one T1. Some days I do nothing, some days I just do Una's and Chaos, some days I do everything. This is a game that doesn't need to be hardcored.

I play on a server with friends I met outside the game and even then we don't really play together all that often. That's fine for me because I like playing MMO style content solo as much as I can, but that style of play definitely is not for everyone. It is definitely more fun with the slight bit of community I have though because I can talk to them about the game and we can put together abyssal groups without having to worry about any toxicity.

I really appreciate this video, and I'm glad you're enjoying the game. I think it also made me decide to hard quit Lost Ark. I took a break because of Elden Ring, and I think I'm just a single player only pleb now. The idea of a game having any "Daily" makes me want to vomit, I just can't stomach that anymore. I'll wait for an MMO that can break that progression mantra, but otherwise I'm good.

I'm finding that it's a game that's more about the journey than the destination. It's unlike many other mmos in that there isn't really a stopping point for gear progression. Your goals will always be the same-- get higher ilvl, make more gold, see the next piece of content etc. Many of the lategame fights are still fun (the 1340 abyss dungeon is especially memorable to me), but the reward being just a handful of gold and an extra honing chance makes it feel like more of a chore rather than an epic raid.

Definitely this, you won't ever reach max ilvl as a normal player, not even normal whales will reach max ilvl max gems, engravings, skill points, runes. Only the ultra giga whales can reach that and by next patch that raises the cap they will have to giga whale again

Loool the dailies take about 30min on one character and you don’t need to play more than one character. If you play more that’s just you turning to keep up with the players that are playing way more than you. @@propersod2390 I’m 1385 and yoho takes no more than 15min x2 then chaos takes bout 10min if you’re going slow and una task take that last 5min all the other things like field boss, chaos gate are time gated and you can do all other content you want in the meantime so on average the basic dailies take 30-45min per character. And like you said it forces you to play if you want to “progress faster” you’re right it gives you methods to do to progress fast but it doesn’t force you too I got 1385 with 0 alts by playing the market and now I’m playing alts for silver and to try other things out. Yea I wasn’t able to do argos on release but who cares why do I need to I’m going to be be doing the same content anyways just a week later

Its not pure RNG. Each upgrade is a guaranteed chance EVENTUALLY, so the number of tries for a successful honing is definitive. RNG dictates if you arrive there earlier. Plus you can either earn or buy with excess gold items to increase your chances.

@@heidiallen824 I recommend completing the shadowspire tower (t1) completely for the rewards then the fatespire one(t2). Though be warned the fatespire boss on level 50 can be quite a problem. Gave my 1390 berserker some issues even though I out geared it.

Went from playing this game 11 hours daily to now only logging in for my daily login reward. Most content that isn't locked behind daily chores that are more boring than washing dishes have been completed. I still miss the super lategame content but I'm not sure it's worth the daily chore grind. Not going to swipe either. So as a free to play player I'm quite burned out. Will play again when new classes are released I guess. It's a shame cause I had not enjoyed an mmorpg as much as Lost Ark in years. The leveling while doing mokokos, adventurers tome and islands was so enjoyable and fun. But now that all islands have been visited. Most adventurers tomes are completed and most collectibles have been collected all there is left for me are daily chores to get mats to upgrade tier 3 gear so I can one day try new content.

Burned out as well. Its just a never ending daily farm. I love the gameplay but this game feels like an actual job more so than any mmo ive ever played. Like you need a full on schedule with different events and boss timers just to keep track of daily activities. On top of that theres little to no need for any player interaction other than queuing for matchmaking and playing with people who are not even on the same server.

i was feeling like that, but if you get into a different mindset where you dont have to play optimally and rush to the latest content the fastest way possible you will enjoy it again. There are rested bonus in the daily content for a reason. If you only do the daily content every 3 days instead of every day you will still get 2/3 of the rewards you would have gotten for example. You also don't need to do the timed events. If they happen to be at a convenient time when you are playing, sure, do them. But don't feel bad if you ignore most of them

Most of ppl play as free and progress just fine at own pace. I dunno why some ppl think this is p2w and just not even give a shot. I paid only for the skin and still have 1 main 1350 and 4 alts at 1315, 990, 600, 540. It just takes longer with free play. Spending money only comes in factor if you don't want to actually play through and buy the mats which comes really late in the game.

Lost Ark is a typical korean f2p p2w mmo, theyre all designed that way, very pretty, cool classess and gameplay, early game you have so much to do, many gameplay mechanics, and then the game becomes a daily chore, unless you spend money. Dropped the game shortly after reaching T3 on my main. I knew it will end this way, but there was so much buzz around the game when it launched, and the gunslinger class looked so cool to me, i decided to try it out :) Im just staying away from most multiplayer, grindy games with cash shops, since im 99% sure the game will be like all the others. Games like Elden Ring, Horizon Zero Dawn, Metro Exodus, Monster Hunter World - that i all played in the last couple of months, are great enjoyment still for me. No cash shops to milk you, making the games grindy and repetitive, nothing forcing you to log in daily because if you dont - you "miss out", great games that you play whenever you want, finish it and move on :)

MMO's are a marathon not a sprint, and I feel like from playing this game and attempting both, it rings extra true for Lost Ark. As soon as you stop viewing dailies and weekly tasks as "I MUST DO THIS, ALWAYS" and instead just do them if you can /want to, the game becomes way more enjoyable. I feel like too falling behind gearwise /progressionwise just doesn't matter here too, if not only for the mass of alts people have. Meaning you'll always have people in your content range to play with. I took this approach myself after nearly burning out on trying to do too much at once and pressuring myself to hit the endgame asap, and I honestly find this game far, far more fun now that I view it this way.

I enjoyed the game at times and kept saying it gets better at the "fantastic endgame" , but I am afraid that the endgame is literally doing the exact same boring things every day in order to get to another tier where you just keep doing it. I wish the game would reward you and give most progress for the most fun content like Abyss dungeons, but the rewards are pretty slim and you don't get ilvl upgrades. If you want to progress you got to grind the same boring, repetitive, mindless stuff each day to unlock a new ilvl to get to experience the new.

Couple of my 1 character more casual pvp friends are at 1370+ solely off of events. People with alts have to spend thousands of gold and materials to get those alts to t3. It isn't like you magically have a character at t3 and it instantly pays off. There is time, gold, silver, and materials invested. This game too easy even for single character players, so idk if you are exaggerating to make a point or what but this is simply not true.

My experience: 2 chars in T3 (1370, 1310), 2 in T2 (1000, 940). On T3 ones I do both Chaos and Guardians daily, on T2 I want to push I do Chaos daily and Guardians every 3 days, and on 'spare' T2 I do all every 3 days. It doesn't take long, and I just hit 1370 today. I give my spare resources to friends to catch up (will be hitting 1370 tomorrow), and run with them some PvP and T2 treasure maps for profit, along with hardest Abyss available. So, with 0 money spent and 9-5 job, I still have quite a lot of fun. Without recent changes, 1370 would take at least another reset which would be annoying (same guardian mostly), but tbh I have fun with most of it and I don't take it as seriously as Peon as I plan to play for a while. The way he is doing it I would burn out hard by now... My point is, don't get discouraged by seeing 6 alts or hearing $1,000, it's like watching a person that plays WoW and other games on 10 accouts, or Guild Wars 2 with 70 characters (I have seen it all). Oh, and I'm not playing the market or anything to 'cheese' the game (every time I tried I lost gold), nor is my honing luck far from average :D Have fun!

I have a character at 1370, 2 others at 1325 (waiting to hit 1385 until i progress them more.) 3 characters in the end of t2 very close to pushing over into t3. The only money I have spent on this game was for the Bronze founders pack and the Omen skin pack. A few of my toons are pretty stacked with level 3 engravings and proper stat priority. Gems could use some work but other than that each account feels pretty strong in each form of content. I couldnt imagine spending $1k just to be a few weeks ahead of where I am now... Maaaaybe a month. Anyways I enjoy all the vids you post covering different games and what not. Thanks for the content.

I've posted my thoughts on reddit, so I'll just copy-pate it here. Pretty much, there's a ton of content in Lost Ark, but at the same time not enough of it. Majority of the interesting content is time gated in some way, like Abyss Dungeons are weekly, Guardian Raids 2 times per day, Chaos Gates, World Bosses, Islands, they're all on a timer... So you have to pick one, and then you can't do them for another hour or 2. In the meantime you just afk and do something else. It really sucks, especially in the case of Abyss Dungeons, as you can do them pretty much in 15min if you know the mechanics but only once a week. Also, the game feels really grindy, but at the same time it doesn't allow you to grind how and when you want to. The game requires tons of time or money investment to keep up and access latest content, it feels like a job. I just dislike that the game locks you out of so much content intentionally, but then makes alts kinda mandatory to have - especially later on. Daily stuff gets really mind numbing and boring when you have to do it on your alts, especially if you don't enjoy the classes. Majority of the time spent in game is me grinding boring stuff so I can get an upgrade to enjoy the 5% of the actual engaging content that is Abyss or Legion Raids in the future. While I had some issues with the game in T1 in T2, I feel like I had much more fun, than I have now in T3. Possibly due to this deadzone between 1340-1370. Usually, in other MMOs, I'd just keep queueing up for PvP (or going into open world PvP) at this point. Sadly, I absolutely despise Lost Ark PvP, so even that isn't an option for me. I really liked and wanted to like the game, but as it is currently, I'm not that sure about it. I'm definitely going to wait for roadmap though before deciding if I want to quit or not. Playing classes I like might make me want to stay. Right now, I only like playing Paladin, but I hate that I'm stuck as support only. So it all depends when they decide to release the classes I like. If the class release is 6 months away, I'm just quitting. I'd hope to come back once the class gets released, but I'll probably forget about the game by that time.

I’m currently at ilvl 1380, free-to-play and no alts. I only spent $15 to start playing a couple of days prior to official release date and some more $$ later to buy skins for my bard character, ship, mount, a pet, cosmetics in general, which I have no problem. I enjoy the game and that’s my way of supporting the devs for such an amazing game… I do the same in other games as well. Must people here complaining about this guy spending $1k don’t even play the game or played it for a while, didn’t even got to tier 2 or 3. If someone wants to spend $$ on the game to level up their main character (or alts) “faster”, then that’s ok, it’s not your $$, stop hating. You can still play the game for free and get to the end-game. Keep grinding or probably not the kind of game you should play.

I could not get over the tedious dailies (chaos, guardian) They were fun in the beginning 2. Massively p2w cash-shop 3. The feeling of being forced to play alts or swipe 4. Just shut up and play the way u want and leave other people to play the way they want lol I didn't even rushed the game that much, i didn't waste any of my real money in the game, got only 1 character on t3 and 2 on t2 (changed mains 2x, scrapper > zerker > sorc), have like 750+ mokokos, 30+ island souls, 35+ paintings, the max gold i had was 150k and i didn't even buy mats/gear on AH and so on... Doing the same dailies and killing the same bosses everyday with multiple characters just gets tiring very fast + failing tons and tons of 80%'s+ also fucks with your mind + doing side content is cool, but just for a certain amount of time, after a while even that gets boring af... With all that, i just got tired of the game and dropped it, period.

Without even going into dailies, those islands end up giving you a lot more than you would need to reach T1, let alone all the free materials from the two events going on right now which more than double that by the time they end.

@@HattingmaD yep, I did the full island questlines, I even followed a guide to be optimal in how I did them. It was quite fun honestly, there were quite a few interesting stories and such. I ended up with a ton of mats, don't get me wrong; I should have been able to reach T2 without any real issue. But the game decided otherwise.

@@axxurge Fair enough. I'd say use the current events to get the rest you need, it's quite a lot of stuff between the Grand Prix and the Casual Guardian Raids. Both events have a vendor that sells materials, and honing chance items like the clovers and 10%+ bonus books. If you have any cube tickets for your Tier, do those in matchmaking to complete them quickly and those will grant 25 of the Tier 1 clovers for each full completion.

If you click on the star to the left of the dailies in the window you can add it to the favorites and access them from the dropdown menu. Thought I saw you scroll through the daily page to accept them. Saves a bit of time :)

I stopped after doing the same shit on five characters everyday. The story was fun but now it’s a chore. I’m so glad Elden Ring came after cause it cured the fuck out of my boredom. I’m still keeping myself updated cause I loved this game but I hope one day they make endgame more fun.

It's kind of sad that I like so much of what this game is, but I still don't really want to play it anymore because I don't appreciate feeling pressured to log in and do a ton of stuff every single week if I want to play "efficiently". Between that and relying on other people not to suck in raids and such, I think this game finally taught me that I'm just not really an "mmo" guy. Hopefully I'll come back to it if I'm ever just done enjoying a variety of good reasonably-priced games and decide I want to "invest" in my gaming future and play this all day every day. No game has ever felt as punishing to "figure things out on my own and play at my own pace" in as Lost Ark, sadly.

Hey, I feel you. Just a recommendation: If you want to check out an MMO that is the exact opposite of Lost Ark, I recommend Guild Wars 2. It has a beautiful open world, great combat, the best mount system in the genre and much much more. And there you are not pressured by item levels or chance upgrades, because the endgame level (80) can be reached within a few days. And you never have to switch your gear after that. Check it out, if you are interested!

I was super hyped for LA.. I went in blind, and after the first dungeon, I was blown away.. it was intense and the combat was incredible. I thought if it has dungeons like this in the end game this is going to be incredible! I got to the end game and the dungeons are just boring. The game feels like 85% chores and maybe 15% combat. Its a shame, they have the content. Reuse the dungeons you play through in the story. You spend all this time getting up your gearscore, better abilities.. everything focused on your combat level, and then rarely get to use it.

My biggest problem with this game is that it is necessary to make alts to make reasonable progress. If you play only 1 character you will always be behind because game system is built around having them. This is such a bad game design. Game should reward me for trying new classes not punish for not having them.

I had fun from Level 10 all the way to T3. Now for the first time I feel the grind as a F2P player. Really not fun honing with the extremely low honing chances and expensive material costs. I also have to craft upgrades materials now at the stronghold too? Ugh

It is possible with Stronghold upgrade buff for T1 & T2. I have 4 alts in T3 and I’ve only spent under $500 with 488hours gameplay.
