Previously in Lost Ark:
I began my adventure in Arkasia as a Shadowhunter during the 3 day headstart after securing character names on all my alts, The first 30 levels or so I found extremely boring but at around level 30 the game started to get a bit more interesting with some cool questlines, my character unlocking the stronghold and eventually setting sail across the ocean to various other continents, eventually I hit level 50 after hours of super linear mindless questing only to discover I had another few hours of questing to go until I could start the end game...
In this video you'll see my past 2 weeks of Lost Ark progression all the way from T1 endgame all the way to the start of T3

Especially in Tier2 the mmo aspect is just strating with map grouping, knowing the value of gold, doing raids more with group finder in mind and everyone at least knows how to play his class (and has proper engravings). I just dropped into tier 3 and now the real grind can begin. But im absolutely open to it - but will play more relaxed than the way to tier 3. At least: Stuff I do now matters. So gear matters while you where almost everytime outgeared in T1/T2 for the stuff. I will really miss my 2x tier 3 engraves. But so it begin again. And my gold twinks can relax now a bit. :)

Yeah, Peon is right, levelling up to 30 so far is very linear & boring. Mrs & I are super-shlomos (not quote lvl 25!), exclusively duoing a Gunslinger + Soulfist. Combat is getting better, and some of the mini-dungeons were hella fun, but questing is generally same ol same ol. Hopefully we get past it soon & to end-game this year lol!

If you get your main to T2, your stronghold can research an ability to make honing T1 on your alts require less mats and higher chance to succeeding.

@@syzpj627 820 is when you officially hit tier 2. Once that is achieved just go into your stronghold and go into the research lab. Scroll all the way to the bottom and there should be two options for Tier 1 honing and XP requirements reduction. Research them right away before you even start upgrading your alts gear. it’s a 20% boost to your success chance which is a ton. This can be done again for Tier 2 alts once that character reaches tier 3.

There are still ton of more contents not yet released in Western regions. Hope you play long enough to try Abyssal raids and finally Legion raids. which can be called true endgame :)

There are stronghold upgrades that help your alts (less materials needed, higher honing chance etc.). Also if you climb the tower on a 2nd character you will get tons of materials instead of cards and other rewards.

Really enjoyed your review. As a long time korean server player, I am very happy you are enjoying the game as I have been watching your video for a long time and really enjoy your youtube contents. Current NA's version of lost ark is only about 20% of what you will be getting in future updates. The huge success of Lost Ark in Korea started as they added legion commander raids and south vern continent. Once those updates hit, you will be able to experience seriously epic raids. I hope you have fun playing my favorite MMO in the world.

Cool to hear from an actual korean, i like the games that comes from Korea, it's a shame that many don't get released in EU/US I haven't started playing Lost Ark yet, but will shortly, and i think ill be maining the same class as Peon Sorceress :D she looked very fun, i looked at a few "what class should i pick!" vids but none of them really stood out when it came to what class to pick, peons gfameplay of sorc was a dealbreaker tho :)

I am, like you, having an absolute blast playing this game. The dungeon at the end of Rohendel was the most fun dungeon I have played in a game in quite some time. I'm guessing you figured eventually in the Abyss dungeon with the orbs that you don't DPS the orbs? Just wait for the boss the teleport to you and he will destory them himself.

OOF... The game really does have a HUGE Tutorial Gap on Guardian Raids: The HUGE number of people that first few WEEKS that didn't even BRING Dungeon Pots with them was STAGGERING. So many 'harder than they should be' GRs because the game fails to really make you understand that there are TWO types of Pots...

This game is definitely a good game. The pretty graphics and the sophistication of the details are amazing. You won't find graphic fragmentation in a myriad of places. It's also good because it's a game that can be played to the end even in f2p. It is said that there are many people who enjoy endgames through f2p even in kor suv, the hometown of this game. In fact, when I played the game myself, the p2w element is not bad either. Expensive ingredients are available in small quantities at the Marie Shop but at reasonable prices. I've seen articles saying that this game always amazingly updates the quality of the game as much as it makes money. A game to look forward to in the future.

In my opinion it's too streamlined making it too easy and boring. Bosses should have mechanics and so on even during leveling.

I can agree on this - it is a similar thing with what I felt towards PoE's earlygame, in which it really doesnt matter what you do, it's just a heavy grind without proper lategame impact nor does it impact lategame skill-development

In my personal opinion PoE requires a bit more from you before reaching end-game just slapping on whatever you find without a build in mind won't get you all the way there. Lost ark on the other hand, just equip the highest iLvl and use whatever skill you want. There is no way you won't at least get to vern.

The leveling was absolutely boring AF... but once I got past 35 and then when I got to the actual endgame it became soooooo good! the guardian raids, chaos dungeons, abyssal dungeons, etc are so exciting and every time I unlock a new boss or stage, it gives me that super adrenaline rush! I haven't really gotten into the islands yet, or any of the ocean content but I cant wait to get into that also and see where I progress to! The combat is outstanding and it never feels like its lacking, especially with skill customization. So far I have not felt any need to buy anything or being pushed to actually spend $ which I love regardless of the p2w people complain about (t2 atm and no push to buy). Graphically its bright, vibrant and the areas are really varied so you're never feeling stuck with one style of colour and background to run around in (that mini village you shrink into was sick). The boss fights throughout the story (50+ and some lower) can get pretty hard but it makes it feel so rewarding to beat them that way. I have tons of hours in lost ark now and I'm so glad to see you enjoying it just as much!

For me it was because there was no part of the leveling where I WASN'T bored, aside from a few scattered moments here and there where I got to blow up a large group of enemies or tried out a new skill. Forgettable story, yawn-inducing voice acting, meaningless questing all suck, but the real problem is that the quest mechanics do nothing to show off what the endgame is like. Run 50 yards away from the quest giver, one/two shot a few groups of mobs, turn in, repeat. Endgame may be amazing but you can't fault people for being bored right out of the gate when the first few hours quickly turn into a slog. That's the studio's fault for not showcasing what their game is really like.

Glad a lot of people like the game, they've been grinding T3 and I was afraid they'd quit because part of the real fun I found was not only the bosses but exploring. Sitting at 900+ Mokoko seeds and 30+ Island hearts at 1090, didn't spend a dime for it and didn't funnel anything from any alt. I'm just, playing while also playing another game.

@@maiiwiththedrip1764 You can play the game with a single character, if you don't care to be "the highest item level" etc and you just want to take it slow and experience the game, you can definitely do that with a single character. Obviously have multiple alts to feed materials is a benefit and you can squeeze a couple extra upgrades per day if you utilize all your alt slots, but again if you just want to play the game for what it is, you can easily do that with a single character. You have nothing to lose except your own time as it's f2p, like peon said just play past the story and i'm sure you'll find something in the end-game you will enjoy.

The game to me feels like top down bdo looking combat but with real PVE and I personally don't call this game pay2win because what are you winning? There's no unbalanced gear open world pvp like in BDO at all. Your paying to progress faster and to unlock things faster your not really paying to win. Now of course way later on there might be a huge grind gate to move farther and I imagine that's when people will start to quit and get upset by the rates and rng on things given you can just buy progression but by that point I think people would've already gotten lots of good free content from the game. Idk I think I will be playing awhile but as soon as it becomes to repetitive I will prob drop it. But playing this game side by side with FFXIV has been great so far.

This may be the only time that I've ever disagreed with one of your game impressions. Truly I've been enjoying this game basically from level one I mean some of the quests... a lot of the quests are your standard go fetch this, hell one quest had me carving freaking pumpkins after becoming the Kings night. But the entire Luterra quest line and the whole siege of Castle Luterra I mean damn, I'm here for this. The game feels like playing through final fantasy story but with BDO combat.

I tried the game in the beta and uninstalled in 40 minutes. Thought the game was just not for me despite me liking Diablo, Grim Dawn and generally others in the genre. The game also ran pretty poorly on DX9 which thank fuck was changed to DX11 on launch. Currently I'm only at level 37 I think and loving it. The combat is the best in the genre and the gameplay in general is top notch and the graphics are really cool. Haven't even touched end game content and I can tell this is probably the best ARPG I've played.

upgrading 1040 to 1100 is such a pain in the ass....can't imagine that on t3....3 days, 4k gold and I only managed to upgrade a fuking helmet from +14 to +15 which is absurd

The game itself isn't too bad, what killed it for me is just the fundamentals of xp gain. Why is it only questing that nets you xp? What made me think about it was me turning in a quest to notice the popup say "+x COMBAT xp". Why the heck am i getting COMBAT xp for pressing G. This game is already a press G simulator, why can't i just go out of my way and kill stuff if i wanted to level up? And why do you get xp for turning in the quest instead of killing the things? Essentially you're just locked and forced into "finishing the story" which is pretty MEH to begin with (it's an ACTION rpg, not story rpg) which adds even more linearity to the whole process. Might aswell grant people max level off the bat cause it seems like the devs themselves know how linear it is and if the "best part" really is the endgame which seems to be the focus on why even bother with "story" or "levelling"? Most people aren't even gonna make it there, including me cause if the journey to the "best part" isn't even remotely decent, why should i believe the "best part" is decent?

This is painful to watch haha. Doing all the mechanics wrong. For the final boss of that dungeon, you dont want to kill the orbs. Stand near them, the boss teleports to you and hits them and the orb hits the boss. Do this with 4 orbs and he wont one shot you. If you get to T2 on a character, you can do a research in your stronghold to make gearing for alts 20% easier. You get 20% higher success rate and they cost 20% less materials.

"The game starts at ..." Well, then you'll loose a lot of players. Because if the thing you're doing is boring as hell, and I played since day 1 pre-release, it shows who will be easily blinded by the stuff Lost Ark offers. Sure, the animations are nice and the impact is very good. Thats it. If the fun begins at T3 "Where the real challenge waits!" there are definitively design flaws over all places. Story is subjective though... I didn't like it and I never felt any attachement to the world, charakters or anything at all. The over-sexualized content is a eye-sore since I kinda like variety with the option "if you wanna go 'sexy' well do it" I think there's porn for that. Worst part, when you see how the sexualizing goes, is the child-class-character coming to Lost Ark... Am I the only one getting 'child-liker'-vibes with the obvious bs "bro, she's 3000 years old, its okay!". All the end-game content is neat and there is no pay to win. You can't pay a single dime to win any pve-content and even if you can do 'pay to win'... well... what you get from it? Nothing? Because PvP is completely set in stone with its system and thats the perfect way of doing it. Skill matters, not equipment. I was blinded by 'oooh, shiny' too but the game really got boring very very quickly with so much grind even I, liking grind to the bones, grew bored of it. If you're not rushing, make sure to make your dailies guys(also accept weeklies early), buy mats from the chaos/guild weekly. Remember there's no need to rush. You don't need to be end of t3 by end of next week. This game really rewards you for taking it slower when it comes to those moments where you'd end up getting gated. Passing through t1 a week later will have you have enough mats to not get completeld screwed by rng. If you rush you not only get burned out cuz u just run from island to island without enjoying yourself, but you will also might up with not having enough mats to actually push through and be forced to wait for next weeks reset etc. Do a ghost ship, a open world raid, check an abyss run and login next day for an hour for dailies and thats it. Focus on having fun first, the endcontent will come who knows when

I disagree about the journey from 1-50 being the worst part of the game. It's actually quite enjoyable and not just for the story content. It's fun to explore each region for the Adventurer's tome, do the dungeons, kill world bosses and progress your character by unlocking new abilities. I noticed you only had 21 Mokoko seeds by the time you reached end game which leads me to believe you did nothing but quest your way to 50 and skip over everything else. I wouldn't have enjoyed leveling that way. So don't knock the game because of how you chose to play it.

Chaos Dungeons and Guardian Raids are the most fun things in the game and they are the reason I'm still playing after having a 1300+ Paladin and 1200+ Shadow Hunter and Bard 😀 I had the exact same feeling. The game feels like 2 completely different games, pre-Vern and post-Vern.

Out of the first 15 guardians, only like 3 to 4 are somewhat interesting/demanding. Everyone else is just a punching bag. Well, Chaos dungeons are just the quick way of getting mats. Nothing more. Abyss dungeons are fun, as long as you and/or your team are not perfect in it. It is like a dance where you need to follow a set move set to be victorious. Little to no dynamic events happening. If you know what to do, well ... where is the excitement?

Put 60h into it as a Berserker and... well, i left. 1) I am certainly not a story player but i tend to play those with a decent degree of "efficency". Meaning, i wanna do all side stuff along the way since i do not like backtracking if i can avoid it. Because of this, i used the interaktive map to grab every mob, seed, lookout,... along the way. Which resulted in 40h of leveling from lv0-50 which was the absolut worst experiance i had in over a decade. Best part was, as i hit lv50, ive been told the continent i was in (Stern as its capital) was the wrong one and i needed to get to Vern. So i did, just to notice that i could not enter a sincle "end game mechanic" as my gearscore was to low. If guild mates wouldnt have told me to just upgrade some stuff i would have ended up clearing another continent before getting my first 302 set (was around 30% into lv50 at that point). 2) Once that was all done i basicly cleared all T1, where the whole Alt stuff started. IDK, something about that was completly offputting, not to mention the upgrade system which makes BDO´s progression looking like a casual dream (as well as the need to upgrade multible chars so, multible times of the same rng insanity). 3) Openworld, PvP and "Endgame". Its fun, tho dungeons in general tend to get me bored rly quick and i have absolutly no desire to replay raids over and over again. PVP feel great, Island PVP was fun as well. Lots of stuff to do, tho the hundrets of currencies seem like an unnecessary burden noone needed. 4) Item shop, well here is where the real fun starts i guess. While i do not mind treating games like a Sub, Lost Arks cashshop is insane. While it basicly only effects others within your group, in GvG and island PVP, its completly messed up what you can achieve by swipeing a card. If you think BDO is bad, then you are in for a treat. Especially with its millions of sub systems... Long story short. Yes its decent. For sure try it out, it has a lot to offer either way. It feels like a well polished Mobile Game which throws small but shiney things in your face every 2 mins which kind of wants you to keep on playing. Content is good and plenty to choose from for both, long and short term goals. That said, its P2W aspect is completly broken, If you want to "compeat" in any way then good luck to you. The gap between a F2P and P2W player in here was the worst ive seen in a long time for a non mobile game.

What? You legit think bdo upgrade is easier than lost ark? WHAT LMFAO. your items legit can get deleted in BDO. LA's upgrade system is MILES easier than bdos. Also, what do you mean the "cash shop is insane" the only thing worth actually buying in the shop is Mari's shop (which is the most f2p feature ever btw) you legit just transfer gold into crystals if you wanna buy stuff in maris. This isn't hard either, as you can easily make thousands of gold a day if you know what you are doing, which translates into a hell of a lot of crystals. Also, I can tell you are legitimately clueless by saying "gap between f2p and paid player is huge". This is just straight up not true, as I am a 1329 ilvl player already in the start of t3 content without paying. I got all of my crystals by farming gold and transferring (which is extremely easy btw, got 60$ in crystals alone just today). The only thing in the game that is legitimately P2W is pushing 1400gs+, which is not required for any of the content, and from what KR players have told me, it's a small DPS boost of 2-5% for the ppl that do manage to spend the tens of thousands of dollars to push into insane GS numbers.

​@@ToadMagic uhm, yes with the current content is not as insane as its gonna become unless we do get massivly altered rates. Why is the Upgrade system in LA worse you ask? Let me tell you why. Sooner or later, when we get accses to more content, again assumeing it doesnt differ to much from other regions, its all about your upgrade and less about your base gear. Why is that you might ask. Because there is an immense difference between +20 and +25 (bit under 50% in raw power) which btw are as low as a 0,25% chance at its base and a F2P player is absolutly daily / weekly caped on how many attempts he gets while a P2W player is basicly not. Also keep in mind, a very early game set at +25 WILL outperform the very end game set at +20. Yes it wont be BiS, but it doesnt need to be either. Lets not even start about the funny stones we get to polish, pets, costumes etc. as those are a whole topic on its own. Then there is the whole Stronghold topic as well, where a credit card can save you months of F2P progress in nearly an instant if you want to. So, if you look at other regions, with there current amount of content, would need over !!!!3 years!!!! of consistent upgrade mat farm and months of consistent progression to tackle said stages of endgame, a P2W player needes just a couple days (also, this does NOT include gearing up a single alt to actualy beeing able to farm content you need). Now tell me how is this system better then BDO, where you at least have the option to buy / 100% upgrade your gear no matter what at your own pace without time locks. Then there are all the sub systems which you simply will not manage to complet in any reasonable amount of time compared to a swiper. Keep in mind, those absolutly translate directly into power. Be it flat permanent stats up or up to % bonuses like crit chance via cards. All in all, LA layers RNG over RNG over RNG where every step along the way, a credit card WILL help you. In short, unless they drasticly change the requirements to progress, the difference will become insane. If that gap is to much for you or not, well thats for everyone individualy to decide. But i repeat it once more, I personaly still think its a decent game for what it is and i do recommend that people should try it out.

We will see how much it changes once we get accses to all the content other regions have. I kind of doubt they reduce it by that much of the very very last raids etc as well but we will see. Given BDO´s current market, there is absolutly no need to blow up anything. BiS gear is getting sold regularly and PEN gear is the new norm which you even get via quests. If you want to, you can 100% play it without any form of RNG in terms of gear (besides maybe 3 or 4 certain items which i think dont rly exist at PEN yet outside of a handfull of people). While it may take weeks to get there, so does it in Lost Ark. Very little difference.

Once you get your main to ilvl 802, an upgrade on your stronghold will appear where it will take 20% less resources to hone to tier 2. And 20% success rate boost to hone to tier 2. I don't recommend doing the knowledge transfer unless you want to save 1 hour. I will only skip story quests, you get no gear. But with the stronghold upgrades, getting alts to 802 will be way more easier.

Getting main character to level 50 and complete the MSQ to North Vern is pain in the ass but after that it is like a butter on hot pancake because you can obtain 2 vern passes to your ults and not to mention with the new character that just got released and it came with feiton pass too.. if you still have 3 more ults, just do the power knowledge with cost of gold, I know this is gonna be hurt for some people but also try to get your main up to tier 3 first and then farm materials from there and sell the materials for gold and use the gold for your ults like power knowledge.
