Thanks for showing part of my city. Unfortunatelly it don' t keep many monuments. The best thing in Albacete is the nice quality of life: Albacete is the oerfect size to live in, we can go on foot almost everywhere, it' very safety, it's not expensive, there're a lot of cultural offer and comerce, it' s quite near the beach, Madrid, Andalucía ...And the people is friendly, I think so.

Hi, thanks for coming around and show Albacete on your channel, early hours of a November Sunday morning probably not the best to capture the real vibe of the city though :) Albacete is Known as "el Nueva York de La Mancha" after a poem written by Azorín, late years of s. XIX due to its high buildings and grade of development for those years. Of Course is just a funny anecdote and "the albaceteñ@s" take it that way Again, thanks for visiting :)

Great video! I just wanted to clearify that the building you said was town hall isn't anymore, it was at somepoint (it is a small museum now), but the town hall is currently located between the cathedral and El Museo de la Cuchillería. The Casino Primitivo isn't actually a casino, it used to be a place were people from the upper classes would play cards but now it is more of a place which you can book to have events there. Fun fact! It was called the New York of la Mancha because it was one of the first cities in Spain on being electrified so people were able to spot Albacete from far away when they were travelling by train, while the rest of the land was completely dark.

I recommend you to visit La Pulgosa, a very big park in the outskirts of the city. Besides, you should try the typical dishes of Albacete cuisine, such as atascaburras, ajo de mataero, pisto manchego and gazpacho manchego (that has nothing to do with the Andalusian gazpacho). Unfortunately there are not many historical buildings in the city, but you can see many Liberty style buildings on Ancha street. Being such a flat city, it is very comfortable to walk and run. In the centre of the city is La Zona (nightlife area, party zone), where there are many bars. People tend to go out in the afternoon to drink some "cañas" (half pint of beer), later they have lunch in a restaurant and after that coffee and "cubatas" (alcoholic beverages). The party continues during the evening and at 9 or so, Albacete people have dinner. Later, people continue to drink "cubatas". The fiesta starts at 1 pm and ends very late in the evening.

Southern France is literally at 10 minutes from the valley, so you can have a very nice trip if you decide to go around the French mediterranean as well. In case you decide to go, check the weather before going! Not in Barcelona, but the "Valle de Aran"'s weather, there was a very heavy snowstorm when we were there and we had to turn back since the car we had wasn't suitable for that. We spent around 1500 euros for 6 days, which isn't bad. I recommend "CENTAURO RENT A CAR", quite cheap I've got to say, at least from Madrid.

As I understand it the city has historical links to the international Brigades arriving in Spain during the civil war. Are there any monuments commemorating this. Regards

@@robert111k So you think Franco, Hitler and Mussolini were just mis understood ? I hate all violence and often post the logo NO TO WAR. But you do seem to have a twisted view of European history.

@@robert111k Lets not forget Pinochet in Chile, or Saddam Hussien in Iraq and many others. One dictators evil's does not lesson the evils of others. The Brigades were not simply Communists or Socialists they were a mixed bunch united to fight Fascism. Unless you are a fan of Franco, Hitler and Mussolini and a Fascists I fail to get your logic. All war is evil and it is better that it never happens. But sometimes in history it is not a choice unless you would have preferred to live and an authoritarian ruler. My own belief is that the whole system from all sides has become corrupted and that there has never been a benevolent leader of any political persuasion.

@@robert111k I was right I was not talking to a logical person. Keep on believe all that right wing B*llshit. Franco was not a Fascist ONLY A FASCIST COULD BE BLINKERED ENOUGH TO SAY THAT. Next you will be telling Hitler and Mussolini were just mis understood. Check your info from neutral sources. You say he was not political and yet he abolished free and fair elections. Imprisoned those with views alternative to his own. No one was allowed to challenge his power. THAT IS A DICTATOR !!!!!!!!!! Guernica what was that a fun day out ! No it was murder and just one example of how evil your hero Franco really was to those who did not follow his doctrine For your info Hitler (Francos Ally) was inti socialist and anti communist and put many to death in concentration camps. As I said keep on reading your right wing propaganda or try neutral sources but I think i know what you will do. Tusell view the 1936 election as a victory for Frente Popular. There have been attempts by the ‘revisionists’ to question the result, with the usual contorted and manipulated arguments one expects from such sources. This rewriting of history has been seen off by Preston and others. Remarkably, the revisionists overlook one of the key features of the FP victory - that the centre-left contested the election as an electoral alliance which the Right did not and therefore had no chance of achieving a parliamentary majority given the closeness of the vote. The revisionist argument is based on amalgamating the votes for all the Right contestants, which would not have worked under the electoral system in place and the Right at the time were perfectly well aware of that That there was some shady dealing at the margins, as Enrique and Martin indicated, is undoubtedly true. But it was not significant to materially alter the result. Tusell certainly doesn’t suggest that. The revisionist claim on this is the equivalent of Trump discounting the California presidential vote on the grounds that there may have been some illegal voting, and therefore claiming that he won the popular vote. As with all revisionist arguments it doesn’t stack up, even discounting the attempted electoral frauds that the Right perpetrated On your point over whether the election result was the reason why the uprising in July occured, the answer is emphatically “No”, though it was certainly a key catalyst. The oligarchical conspiracy to overthrow the Republic began immediately on the fall of the monarchy. Senior church figures were discussing it on the day the Republic was declared, before the King had even left the country. They didn’t even wait for the promulgation of the Republican constitution - that mereñy confirmed their intransigent opposition. As Martin has pointed out Sanjurjado’s ‘pronunciamiento’ occurred less than a year after the fall of the monarchy. The oligarchy had an unrivalled position under the Cánovas system: a free hand for latifundistas, financiers, factory owners, monarchists, church and military officers and manufactured elections - ‘caciquismo’. The Republic was declared with the wide backing of all thise excluded by the Cánovas system, outside of the oligarchy, middle class (and highly prestigious) bourguois Radicals like Azaña, populists like Lerroux, Catalan elites, Basque conservatives, plus (and it’s a very notable plus) the support of notable Conservatives like Maura and Alcalá Zamora, including key elements of the military. The Republican constitution, although written by the Socialists and full of utopian clauses, ushered in a liberal democratic republican regime as the legitimate legal authority. The oligarchy had no credible legal answer to that. It crystalised the opposition of the oligarchy because it set up a functional democracratic legitimacy with real popular representation. The church’s fears were confirmed with the secularisation of the state and education and the recognition of women’s rights, divorce, birth control, civil marriage. The programme of the first ‘bienio’ was modest and limited given the resources available. The ‘Bienio Negro’ stopped all that before it had really begun. But the real agenda of the Rught was the overthrow of the Republic and its replacement by a corporatist state on a quasi- fascist model. That they were not sufficiently strong enough to do so at the time led to the concerted effort to destabilise and undermine Republican legality with the time honoured use of ‘pistoleros’ and paid mobs, including Falangistas to provoke violence. The 1936 election was the last chance of the ‘peaceful’ take over of the state promised by Gil Robles. But there was never a doubt about what the goal was - overthrow of the Republic and the establishment of an authoritarian regime. The only discussion was over it would be achieved at the ballot box or at the point of the pistol. The whole myth of an illegitamate Republic, the Asturian ‘coup’, fraudulent elections, the supposed ‘Communist’ control of the Republic, anticlerical mass murder, that Spain was ‘not ready for democracy’ was all a completely manufactured smoke screen to cover the reality that the oligarchy was absolutely committed to overthrow the legitimate Republican order, liberal democracy, the (very modest) reform programme of the 1932 and 1936 Republican governments in order to restore the ‘traditional’ oligarchical order of power, wealth and influence that they had under the Cánovas system
