Yes, Frankie Albano did have a couple 45 rpm discs (videos for them are right here on YT) prior to publishing his deck in 1968. His color choices were based on the coloring directions laid out by Paul Foster Case. :)

Yes, the colors on this deck are supposedly the intended colors. Thank you for watching and commenting. ~ Marilyn

Your voice is so soothing. ❤️ I loved this comparison video. I wasn’t expecting there to be such a big colour difference! I think I’m leaning towards the Albino Waite.

What a kind remark. Thank you for commenting and for watching. They are a good pair to view side by side. :)

I have the Albano Waite tarot and I love it. I love how the coloring is supposed to be metaphysically accurate. I especially like the back of the cards too lol.

@@demolitionFM I like it best of all the RWS too, it's the most consistent. And I agree, the backs are really beautiful. Thank you for watching and commenting, and Happy New Year!

Excellent. I've wondered what he (Frankie) meant, and now I see that the colors ARE truer. Thank you for this.

Frankie Albano was, to my knowledge, the only person ever to acknowledge the spiritual/mystical significance of color in Tarot. Patricia Coleman Smith, I'm quite sure, provided only the line work, the images. In fact, when Albano was working on his deck in the latter sixties, you could still obtain the Rider Waite deck as black line on white card stock. It was from these plain cards that Frankie Albano formed his accurate color tone deck. I purchased this deck as my very first in May, 1970. Even if the cards were produced in watercolors in 1909 by P.C.S., they would have been your typical trees/grass are green, sky is light blue, water is darker blue, wood is brown, etc. THEN, just like Beatrix Potter with her bunny books, when they went to the (London?) printers, the watercolors of the illustrations would have been badly approximated by the printing inks of the publisher/printers. Still, I do suspect that these cards might have been simply line work when sent to the printers. Not true of Ms. Potter, she was in fact a very competent water colorist (not an easy medium in which to work!).

@MrFullService Thank you very much for your great insights and since I've created this video, I learned some of what you said, but a lot of what you said, I hadn't known. I can't swear to it, but I think this might have been my first RWCS deck (sometime in the late 70s). I definitely noticed that it was different from my friend's deck which had very different colors. And great point that PCS would have used typical colors. I hadn't thought of the color choices she might have made. I remember reading that PCS wrote to someone that the deck would be printed, probably very badly, with color. I also remember reading that Albano used very specific colors and that rainbow in Temperance felt very personal. I think it might be my favorite WCS designed deck. Thank you very much for watching and adding to the discussion. I appreciate that very much. ~ Marilyn
